Nice selection of wine. The surrounding attractions definitely add to the theme. The wine is reasonably priced and doesnt taste bad. They do have taste testing so that you can find a wine you like. They do offer military discounts for purchases
Amazing flavor with a lovely staff. The ladies were full of information and even had a back area where they were giving samples Oztoberfestfor you to try before you buy. Everything tasted so amazing and we ended up buying two different bottles. We even found out they ship online and were really excited because we think we found our new favorite winery. I highly recommend checking this place out. Even if you dont like wine, youll love the chocolates and the decor.
Great hospitality. Good selection of wines and craft chocolates. Just a really fun experience.
Bought a bottle of Witch Gone Good wine today. It is advertised as a Moscato sweet wine. This wine has to be the least sweet wine I have ever purchased. We have bought this wine in the past and was pleased, but not this bottle.
Very friendly and we had fun and lots of laughs. She was very helpful asking and answering questions. Thank you
Really excellent wines! Tasting was fun and the staff was great. Wamego is a great little stop and this winery is a must.
The lady working was awesome, very helpful and knowledgeable about wines. Helped us out a lot and would definitely come here again.
I absolutely love Oz Winery! Sue was the best...very kind and knowledgeable about the wines. I ended up buying two bottles. This was my second visit....this Iowan will be back again. Thank you for brightening my day!
Took my son for his first wine tasting and it was great. Good wine, great atmosphere and the staff was extremely pleasant and easy going
Sampled a few wonderful choices. I got 2 bottles and the melting witch is so delicious 😋
First time there visiting from California. The ladies there were great, very helpful and friendly 👍
We had a great time trying a flight of wine. Fraidy Cat and Squished Witch were our favorites. There are enough varieties of wine that everybody can find something they like. It was also just a fun experience and they have a bunch of gifts and treats for sale up front too. We ended up buying two bottles of wine and will definitely be back to try more.
Received a bottle of Oz wine from my secret Santa and OMG what a treat! Beautiful color and such a joy to drink! Will definately make a trip to visit and taste more delicious wines! Thank you!
If you havent already, go down to Oz Winery and check out their wonderful delicious wines! The labels are all OZ themed and fun to look at. The ladies down there sure know their stuff about wine 🍷 It will not disappoint, I promise. They also have yummy assorted chocolates to purchase to pair with your wine. Squished Witch is one of their best sweeter reds. Drunken Munchkin is a dryer red and delicious! Poppy Fields and Home are 2 of my favorite whites. ❤
Worth the detour...We happened upon this out-of-the-way winery in Kansas, in none other than OZ! Not kidding! Totally worth going out of your way. They have daily tastings of their selection in stock, called Flights! So not kidding! What a hoot! All of their wines are named after the movie of course… Munchkins, Monkeys, Toto, Poppies, Emerald City, and other “witchy” names – you understand! An enormous selection of all kinds of wine! The labels could be sold as artwork by themselves – soooooo cute! We took a couple of bottles home with us, and really pondered just how much I enjoyed it. So, I searched for their website - yep, easy to find – and bought a case. No problem shipping anywhere! And the packaging was nothing short of magical, custom, and well-engineered. Check out the pic! Yes, they have souvenirs – shirts, hats and lots of stuff. I now have a new favorite wine!
Very good variety of wines, all very good. You get two free tastings and we also bought a couple flights. They also have cheese, chocolate and crackers to enhance the tasting experience. Our helper was very educated on the wines and a great host. We have seen the signs on the highway forever and I am so glad we finally made the decision to stop. Will probably join the wine club too so we can enjoy at home.
Wine was alright and the chocolates were good. Staff was a little rude and snapped at one of my friends. For the area and the small amount of space, it’s decent for KS
Good variety of wines so theres something for everyone. Delicious local treats and friendly staff. We stop in every trip through Kansas and its worth the short detour.
Super cute place, super cute town, the ladies were friendly and upbeat. If we pass through again, Ill definitely be back and do a tasting ( couldnt as I was driving)
What a great place to taste wine. The wine was fantastic as well. Cool old building.
Was hoping for a better selection of wines .Were told the they will have more next weekend.
Lots of fun and hostess was so knowledgeable and kind. The wine was good and fun names related to the wizard of oz. Well worth the trip.
Super fun winery. The lady who helped us with the wine was helpful and fun and friendly. We only tried the dry reds, but liked all of them. The wine bottle labels are all fun spins on the Oz story. The bottle art could each tell their own stories. We got one bottle to enjoy at the winery and two to go.Fun, friendly place to stop if youre in the area....
Poor tasting wine. The notes were not very strong or well pronounced of anything.. Very disappointed with my experience at the Oz winery, However, excellent customer service and yummy chocolate!
Very friendly and welcoming. Wine was decent.
We were driving back to Denver and saw the signs for Oz Winery, and had to stop. What a wonderful place. I felt like we had stepped into the movie. It was quaint and cute with Wizard of Oz decor throughout the store. But more than that, the wine was delicious! We had a small tasting and purchased two bottles. I would encourage everyone, if you are in Kansas, to stop at Oz Winery. You will be very happy.
In addition to a wide variety of wines, there were a variety of Knick knacks and art for sale. The store and tasting room were very clean and they have a pleasant staff. The wines have whimsical names and labels which will make great conversation pieces.
The place is perfect going of a theme of the wizard of OZ all there bottles have a unique name/label based of it like Squished Witch. They are all different types of table wines not aged they all still have a unique delicious taste. They have a free limited tasting perfect for me as we came into town as a day trip. Seems like it would also be a fun place to just sit and have a glass with maybe some of there artisan cheese or chocolate. Bottle prices are reasonable with the quality of the blend and the creative oz theme. If I’m ever back in town will be back though definitely at some point will order online from this local small business.
Enjoyable experience. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We were offered several samples to taste along with cheese and crackers. The novelty names of the wines kept the spirit of the Oz theme! Pricing was reasonable. Purchased for myself as souvenirs and gifts for friends.
The hostess was very friendly and explained which grapes were used for each wine. The problem is that we are used to tasting wine from wine glasses, not from plastic thimbles. The quality to price ratio for these wines seems unfavorable for the buyer. The novelty factor and cute lables work well for this winery. The wine was mediocre, and we can buy a better Merlot for $22.
Disagree with previous reviewer. Service was excellent. Very friendly staff that was happy to make conversation with us. And though we are not veterans/military, we were asked more than once, in order to receive additional savings.Wine was sweeter than I prefer. Similar to fruit wine. Interesting to try the Kansas native grape varietals. Whites were better than reds. Similar Oz charm as the museum.
Cute wine place, wine is super tasty, but service is very poor. If you look middle class or lower class, do not waste your time because they will actively ignore you. Pro tip: dress for your wallet.Young milspouses and college women are not welcome here. I would not recommend a younger bride having her bachlorette event here. It is obvious the little desire to have this customer base inside the store.Seasoned mil spouses and older couples will get better treatment here.
Nice winery with excellent courteous service. Open everyday for wine tasting and chocolates. Only reason it didnt recieve a 5th star was due to blush wines being out of stock. We will definitely stop again when we pass through.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff and delicious wine. The tasting prices are reasonable, so you can try as many as you like without feeling guilty. The cherry on top is that THEY SHIP!The only reason I gave four stars is due to the lack of variety (maybe 13 wines total). This may have just been due to the time of year, but I did not inquire.
Ive always loved going here. I get about 4-8 bottles every year from here...I really should get more! They are friendly and professional. My fiance and I like to go here while on a little day date sometimes. Wine is delicious, as always. Ive never been disappointed.
Visited a couple weeks ago while staying in Topeka for a Nationals Dog .Show. Staff were very friendly and the chocolates were great too. I ordered wine after I was home in California.
Great place! Cute cute cute souvenirs! The lady who helped us was knowledgeable and very nice. It was getting a little busy with three separate groups on there, and we never felt forgotten. We thought it was well worth the detour.
Such a fun little stop between kansas city and denver. Totally worth the detour. Wish we had time to explore the downtown a little more. Seemed like a really great little city.
Very good wine, we got three bottles after our tasting. Kinda pricy though as if you do the tasting and buy wine they still charge you for the tasting. They also have cheese and souvenirs for sale but no cheese tasting.
The gal who helped me was extremely knowledgeable. The wine is good but i spent more on 3 bottles of their wine than i do for 6 bottles at most any other winery. But i guess its a novelty thing 😊
Would have loved to properly try this as we saw the signs the whole way on the interstate. Pulled off and just as the phone was connecting to an extension for a person the cell service clunked out, so we drove all the way to get here (10 miles off I-70 each wayonly to find they were closed on one of the busiest travel days of the year. Basing my rating on lack of hours posted on their website (much of the functionality if their site wasnt working, including the "about us" taband lack of a closure notice on their automated phone system, both are simple fixes. Will possibly try again on it way back through.
We love going to the Oz Winery! Cute little store, great wine pairings and the staff is super knowledgeable and friendly! I would recommend stopping by to try the wine if you’re in the area!
The wines are great and the service was wonderful! I went to a wine tasting party there and loved all the wines and pairings! The staff was also very knowledgeable, they were able to answer any questions we had. Would definitely recommend!
This is an absolutely darling little winery! My husband and I visited with the intent of purchasing a couple of bottles to take home so we could have a little Oz in Florida - we ended up spending about an hour there and buying more that a couple of bottles! 😁 I’m truly shocked by some of the lesser reviews saying that this isn’t a “true winery” but I guess that should be expected from anyone that would refer to the ones working there as simply a waitress. Our sommelier, Brooke, was simply amazing. She was very knowledgeable about each wine, even explaining about the grapes used. We tasted several of the wines and Brooke was very thoughtful in including some butterscotch chips with a dessert wine we tried so as to bring out the flavors of the wine. She helped us in choosing several bottles without being pushy or basing the choices on her personal taste preferences. We had a lovely time, the ambience is fun and homey, the chocolates are AMAZING and all of the cute little Oz souvenirs are just the sort of thing you want to take home after visiting such a nice place. Thank you for the wonderful, Friendly and helpful time. If we’re ever in Kansas, we’ll definitely stop in again!
This is a fun and enjoyable place! The atmosphere is awesome but also so is there customer service. I was planning a surprise visit for my boyfriend so I had a few question. Theyre great with responding quickly to emails and addressing any questions or concerns. When we arrived (an hour 1.5 early), the staff was so welcoming and actually excited we showed up so early. That gave us more time to enjoy everything. The wine selection is nice and everything is tasty. I will visit again but Ill also be ordering the squished witch online.
So as a disclaimer, Wizard of Oz is a childhood favorite. The movie was one I had to watch two if not three times a day. Needless to say, my folks got tired of it. So not only did I throughly enjoy the theme of the winery but the wines themselves exceeded expectations! Weither its just to pop in for a tasting, or you treat yourself with the full experience of the food pairing (in which I did and the customer service was fantastic), and weither or not you are a die hard fan of franchise, you will be full of chuckles of each name of the bottles. Oh and the meatballs, delicious with every bite!
Cute themed winery! They have very creative labels, and the wine was good too. They have a large variety of wines, from sweets to dry; reds, blushes and whites. They offer two 1 oz pours for free. Then they have flights for tasting: three 2 oz tastings for $8. The tasting room is small but sweet and quant. The wine is a little overpriced per bottle ($20-$25 a bottle), but a great place to visit!
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, took the time to ask about our preferences before suggesting wines. Each person 21 & over gets 2 one oz tastes of wine. We ordered a flight of 2 oz of each of 5 wines so that we could try a few more. We also had some local cheese and some candy, had a nice relaxing time enjoying the food, wine and atmosphere. The wine was very good, and we took home 3 bottles.
Not a true winery... tourist trap, over priced, and the 1st place I truly did not like most of the wines! I love all varieties...red and white. Small place and not the place to hang out with your friends. The wine waitresses were not friendly at all. So many other great wineries to visit. Same your time and go to some others in the area.
Great little winery, with some very tasty wines! Staff was very friendly, and helpful. Will stop there again anytime we are traveling by on I-70!
