Pousada Mosteiro Amares in Terras de Bouro
Privilege
MorePousada Mosteiro de Amares is magical. My husband and I hosted our wedding celebrations there in August 2022, after two COVID-related postponements. Throughout that time, the hotel - specifically Graca and Joana - continued to be incredibly supportive, ensuring us that despite the delays the wedding would go ahead and they would do everything possible to make it magical! And they really did - the weekend could not have gone more smoothly. All of our guests continued commenting on the beauty of the venue, the professionalism of the staff, the tastiness of the food and overall amazing time they had. Could not recommend this Pousada more - for a holiday or for a wedding!
MoreMajestic diningroom, I picture my wedding in this marvellous place. I liked the lounge-playlist during dinner and breakfast. (@hotel: tell me, what playlist was this?Serene Pool area, marble bathroom, just a lovely place
MoreThis is an absolute jem. We booked a couple of days during a rainy spring time and this is definitely a place to recharge energies away from city life. Although the monastery external look, the rooms have an outstanding architecture, fusing old and new. Lovely breakfast and dinner should also be tried. This is definitely part of my list, of favorite hotels in Portugal.
MoreThe most amazing hotel I have ever stayed in!
Unglaublich nettes Personal, Essen allgemeiner Standard.
MoreAbsolutely incredible experience. The hotel was beautiful, rooms were beautiful, food was delicious, and staff was incredible. We were so happy with our stay here. It was perfect. The front desk staff was so nice and Tiago was so helpful with our bags. We loved the entire waitstaff! We ate dinner at the restaurant 3 times in a row and each dining experience was better than the next. Also the breakfast was amazing too! Do yourself a favor and book this hotel!!
MoreVery nice Pousada frendly staf and a butifull place
We had a great weekend, celebrating the wedding of my lovely brother. Very nice place, lovely rooms and staff. 😍
MoreFunSleep
This hotel is a stunningly beautiful and peaceful location to spend a night or two. It’s spacious halls and grounds are especially nice for city folk who are used to noise and smaller spaces. It was quite breathtaking both day and night.
MoreSplendid accommodation and a great staff.Pros:- Staying in the old monastery has been a unique experience.- The interior is decorated very minimalistic, resulting in a tranquil and relaxing atmosfeer.- Diet preferences (my wife has a gluten allergy and Im a vegetarianwere no problem for both breakfast and diner (we did request this during booking). Without us even mentioning it, the staff already prepared everything each time we ate in the restaurant. Great service!- There are great hiking trails nearby (in Penada Geres NP).- Our room was quiet during the nights. We never heard anything from neighboring rooms. (Visited in Oktober).- The bar area contains plenty secluded spaces for an after diner drink and some relaxation.- Breakfast is ample with many additional options.Cons- The bar isnt staffed continuously and its very unclear how to let the staff know you want to order a drink or snack. There is no instruction, bell or some other means to get their attention. The same goes for the terras area.- Turning on the bathroom lights will also lit the rest of the room because there is a window separating the bathroom from the rest.
MoreWonderful architecture. However its clearly understaffed and the breakfast is disappointing. Also the WiFi is quite slow in all areas of the hotel.
MoreIf you are looking for a special hotel, with peace, tranquillity and relaxing atmosphere, this is the place to be. A very historic building with modern comfort made or stay a lasting memory, also because our son got married there. Served breakfast and good restaurant are available as well, like swimming pool and great view. Enjoy 😎🤩
MoreSmall things that matter but the hotel fails at:- no plant based milk for coffee at the bar- only one bar man to serve all the hotel guests, who are busy ordering drinks and coffee- the bar is far away from the pool and you have to carry drinks for you family all by yourself- the towels for the pool are not by the pool where it is most logical for them to be. They are at the reception - 200m away from the pool- the hotel never answered our messages through booking.com- very poor wi-fi - doesn’t reach to the pool, where you’ve planned to listen to your favorite music or read your online magazine- also equally looong waiting time at breakfast, as again only ONE waitress is here to serve all the guests :/
Moreamazing
Ainda bem!
MoreThere are literally several death traps waiting for you. I broke my nose there in one of the windows. No signaling whatsoever. At least one elderly person has died there. Accidents are frequent according to management. No hospitals nearby. You have been warned
MoreSuper sober, authentic design
Impressive Pousada nicely refurbished by Eduardo Souto de Moura. Even the furniture has been specifically designed for this Pousada, located in an old monastery with lush and beautiful gardens. Huge fireplace perfect to lounge around. The restaurant serves excellent food, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The Terras de Bouro area is such an amazing place, with great landscapes and lakes. Definitely this is a “place to go” if you want to relax, recharge batteries and enjoy nature. Congratulations for such a nice Pousada!
MoreA beautiful building, and amazing dining room. Excellent service with a good choice of food & wine. Some of our party really enjoyed their food, the Pork & Chestnuts was a bit dry for my taste. Fantastic choice of Portuguese desserts, which you helped yourself too - yum, shame plates werent bigger! Not cheap, but great experience.
MoreEnjoyed staying here very quiet used to be a Monastery
Beautifully restored, rooms with marvelous views, delicious traditional cusine, good service, pricey but worth it.
MoreAmazing Pousada
Gorgeous hotel. Incredible wedding venue.
It was amazing, fabulous venue for a wedding, staff food accommodation everything top class
MoreStunning Hotel
Around by the nature. The hotel is calm and quiet and very spacious. Very good for the mental rest. ☺️
MoreBeautiful renovated monastery and church. Lots of arches within. Extremely atmospheric. Gorgeous courtyard with 4 little stoney fountains and arched terraces. The dining are was superb especially the are back of the room beside the large old fireplaces. I think it was an old bell tower of some sorts. There is a lift and lots of steps to entrance. The pool is lovely and you feel very much in the country side. You reach the pool ,which is outdoor , descending quite a few stone steps. Its very private. The staff were pleasant. We had only breakfast there and it was excellent. I think the beautiful dining room added to the food !! We got a delicious Pizza in a little bar, with out side plastic seating , just a few minutes drive from Amares village. Its on a corner and pizza was excellent and cheap . The village is small and hilly but nice to walk around. You can get great photos of the Pousada from high up in the village.
MoreWonderfull
Awesome place, in a ancient monastery, great views. The service is very good. Calm.
MoreWe had a great stay in the pousada. The building is beautiful and all the environment is great for relax and enjoy a bit of the north of portugal.
MoreExcellent ambient
Perfect place, would not change a thing!!
Fantastic in all respects
This hotel is amazing! From the rooms, to the views and grounds, to the incredible staff and customer service (the Assistant GM, Nuno, is fabulous), the food...everything was completely sublime. I had a fantastic stay and cant wait to go back!
MorePriktzer prize winning architect manages retrofit of beautiful mosteiro on the hill. Very serene, peaceful atmosphere with lots of public spaces to sit, pray, read. Simple rooms, nice pool, great restaurant, friendly, attentive staff.
MoreA reasonably good hotel but too expensive for what it is. Baby cot had no mattress, window leaked water during rainstorm, lights went out and there was no elevator working, breakfast was good but not great.
MoreA very quiet place to go at the weekend!
Awesome for staying in.
Romantic, sensitively and tastefully restored - cloisters and corridors take you back to medieval times - if youve dreamed of experiencing life 500 years or so ago but want 20th C comfort and service - this is the place for you.Portuguese warmth and kindness, authentic monastic aspects, amazing food and rooms, contemplative and calming rooms with good original art, huge breakfasts and dripping with atmosphere. Set right at base of national park too. Pool is secluded, garden charming ... never wanted to leave ... you can even roam the monastery at night, watching the owl hunt from the top of the church and pretending youre in your own medieval mystery.
MoreThe room was cleaned after 5pm. Other is perfect - the room, breakfast and staff.
MoreQuality. Great staff.
Stunning hotel in a restored monastery.Great food served in the old stone kitchen now a restaurant. The local village and landscape created the perfect backdrop for our holiday.
