Prairie Vista Vet Hospital & Supply in Reno County

They got my dog in late on a Friday afternoon as a new patient when she was acting sick. I was so relieved to not have to wait until Saturday or later, or drive to Wichita to an emergency vet. Dr. Harder diagnosed her without any problem, and sent us on our way. Ive switched vets to start going here. Highly recommend.

Veterinary in Wichita is ridiculous. On price and the way they treat your animal... so Ill go 75 miles to a place where treat my animal like it was there own.....not butcher like Wichita like Wichita veterinary...150 miles is wroth going round trip for my pet...

Taken my dog there for emergency services and they were amazing and surprisingly cheap! Ive also taken my cat to get declawed and they were very helpful and knowledgeable and answered any questions I had even after regular hours! Will continue to be our regular vet.

I had several questions Regarding my large and small animals got to speek with a veterinarian directly it was nice to get answers.Theyre a bit costly but I suppose every veterinarian clinic is.

I’ve been coming here for over 20 years. This last week I Called on Monday and couldn’t get in until Friday for a sick call. Maybe need another vet ? The care is awesome, staff could be friendlier.

Prairie Vista doctors really care about their patients. They are not quick to order a bunch of expensive tests but try to find other solutions first. They listen to your concerns. Im so happy we chose this place for our fur babies.

The vet that treated my dog for a ear infection was seriously the nicest guy ever! My dog gets scared at vet visits and he sat on the ground with my dog making him comfortable and not so scared plus my dogs ear infection that has been around for months on and off is clearing up fast Best vet Ive been to and prices were great

"Hero" is defined as "a person who is admired for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities." The Avengers are great, but when our cat (Guswas on the brink of death, my family needed a real-life hero to save him. Thats why were so thankful for Prairie Vista and Dr. David Harder!We found Gus in a semi-conscious state due to hypoglycemia and started treating him at home, while at the same time calling the Prairie Vista after-hours emergency number. Dr. Harder called back immediately. We discussed what we were already doing to try and help him, and had a plan to get him through the night. Later that night, home treatment was no longer working, and we called the after-hours number again. Dr. Harder called back (again super fast, despite being the middle of the night), and we made a plan to meet at the clinic. Ill spare you the sad details, but on my frantic drive there, I was monitoring poor Gus and thought hed literally just died in my car.When we arrived at the clinic, Gus stirred a little bit, and I thought surely they would just be putting him to sleep because he seemed like he was so far gone. I was devastated. But to my incredible surprise, Dr. Harder started working on him… and brought him back from the brink of death! After some serious TLC from the good doctor over the next 24 hours, Gus made a full recovery.I cant promise you a similar result since every situation has its own unique circumstances, but to us, Dr. Harder is a miracle man! And no matter the final outcome, his kindness, compassion, responsiveness, and of course care for our cat, were outstanding.

When I found a tiny kitten last year they worked him in and have provided him very hood care. I recently took in another kitten and he is receiving excellent care as well.Very friendly group of care providers.

Love this vet clinic they saved my Chihuahuas life in 2010 when she had a pup stuck in birth canal all though I did loose 2 out of 4 pups (by no fault of Prairie Vistamy Chihuahua lived as did 2 of the pups. Love Prairie Vista and recommend them as much as I can.

Called to get some pricing and you could hardly hear the gal on the phone. You could just tell she wasnt happy to be answering phones. Just no personality at all. Didnt even say her name. Also had to ask about availability. And was told I would have to drop him off on Monday and pick up Wednesday. Gave no reasoning why until being asked. Ive had many animals over the years fixed and never had to leave them that long. The whole phone call had me questioning how they would care for my pet from the lack of care from this one girl. I used to go here all the time and service was great! I doubt I will in the future.

My dog injured herself playing, and Dr. Schmitz explained all options for treatment in terms I could understand.This was my first visit, but they will be my full-time veterinarian now. The prices are reasonable and appointments times are avaliable to fit my schedule. The staff is friendly and warm. A fabulous experience all the way around!

I think Prairie Vista Vet Hospital is wonderful! Dr. Harders treatment plan saved the life of my beloved boy, "Brodie." The Drs are down to earth, provide excellent care, and are qualified & determined to meet your pets needs. The gals at the desk are knowledgeable, helpful, kind and patient. The prices are very reasonable to boot! Highly regarded and recommended by this mama of fur kids! 😍

Dont expect cheap prices or thorough exams apparently. Asked a few questions, looked at my dogs newly lactating and painful area, said she had infection and needed antibiotics answered a couple quick questions and sent us out.

This place was awesome. My beardie (bearded dragonhad gotten attacked. Called all vets in a the area. They either wanted me to drive further then what was necessary. But when I called them they were friendly, understand able. Not to mention when I had got there the staff was super friendly and the vet seemed genuine interested in what had happened. Along with answering any question that I might have had.

Ive been taking my pets to Prairie Vista for 16 years. I love the drs and staff. They dont try to upsell you things that you dont need and take excellent care of my pets.

I had a very old very sick dog that I had to put down. Doctor Schmitz was very compassionate and caring and sympathetic. I have used Prairie Vista for years and will continue to use them because of their caring staff

Can not say enough good things about the front staff of this hospital. I called Monday morning after our Great Dane passed at home on Saturday night, and all the places opened Sunday could not take her due to her size. We have recently moved from Texas and don’t have a vet set up yet, but Dakota at the front desk was awesome in answering my questions and getting us set up to bring Grace in. She and another tech met my husband and I out back at the hospital and let us know how very sorry they were for our loss, and that they were so glad they could help us during this difficult time. We have two other dogs at home, and after this experience I will 100% be setting them up to come in for future visits. Thank y’all again!!!

I have been with prairie vista for years. They have all been so nice and treat my fur babies like.gold. I wont go to anyone else. Love them

We have used this facility for two injury issues and heart worm treatment.The first time was a leg injury to one dog. They didn’t call us like they said they would.Last week, we had a dog injured in a dog fight. Immediately took her in. They kept her overnight. Never got a phone call. The next day, I called them. They claimed not to have my new number, although I remember clearly standing at the counter and giving it to them. Oddly, the vet called me that evening. Since they claim not to have my new number, it must have been a miracle.My injured dog is at another vets office now in very bad shape. She was sent home by PVAH, with an infection that was not properly treated. I was told to give her sponge baths, which I was doing. She has a huge gash in her throat. The vet who is trying to save her life now, called it sluffing. We had no care instructions sent home with our dog. We were rushed out of the room when we took her in. No one warned us about the possibility of the infection blowing a hole in her neck. They either missed it altogether, as the area was not shaved like her other wounds or rushed through the treatment. Either way, they sent her home with a dangerous infection which my dogs is now fighting.I will never take another animal there again. I spoke to someone just this morning who also had a dog die under their care while in surgery.

Our pets were very spoiled at our old house. It’s been an adjustment since moving and having to find a new vet. My animals are my four legged children and I flip out when they are sick or hurt.Dog fight resulting in injury. It was extremely terrifying to everyone at home.The office saw her on an emergency basis. She spent the night so she could be watched while on IV meds. We were rushed out of the room which is very traumatic for my dogs. Due to a contact number issue, we didn’t get any follow up call. Cant hold that against anyone. The vets are good. The desk staff I haven’t really decided yet. A couple seem compassionate but not all.

Love the staff here. Took dog in for sono. Very quick and easy. Priceing is fair. They help you take care of your fur babies without killing the wallet. Got there number to call if I had any questions or need help any time day or night. Now I dont feel like I will be going at this alone.

My puppy tore his ACL, and they fixed him up marvelously! After paying for surgery, his after care checkups are included in the price, so you dont have to pay for every single checkup afterwards . Everyone is so helpful!

Had to put my brothers cat down. Place was kind of noisy whats lots of people coming and going. But once Dr David Harder came in to do what needed done it was as good as could be expected. Dr b Harder was great with the family and took all the time we needed even though it was past closing time. He didnt rush us. Him and his staff gave us all of the support a person could ask for, right down to the cremation questions and process. I will consider bringing my pets here from now on.

The absolute best Veterinarian in town!! We love all of the doctor s here. They are kind and compassionate, and realistic with you. They do whatever it takes to make sure your animal is well taken care of, and that you are well informed.

Good service and staff but they dont mind spending your money. $42 for a office visit is kind of high. Especially when Ive been to another vet that was $12. 2 trips in 3 weeks, about $450 for guess work when they couldnt figure out what was wrong with my big guy. 5 prescriptions total.

Long story short, I went in a few days ago to help locate a friends missing dog. The ladies Im the front were very helpful and very kind. They gave us other suggestions where we could look. I did not see or have any interaction with the vet. The only interaction we had was with the front desk. The lobby was clean and pleasant smelling though.

They were very helpful and ready to help when our vet was unavailable. Although their treatment of our problem was a little aggressive. And we had to change the treatment. But not having seen our dog before I think they did as good as could be expected. Both vets and help were nice to work with, they listened and shared information.
