Thank you to everyone concerned for making the Uni open day a great experiece.
The Arts Centre at Aberystwyth University is up and running again, as of June 2021.There was a grand reopening on Monday 21st June 2021 when the newly refurbished reception and cafe area was made open to the public again. The usual attractions of theatre, film and live music events have returned and information is available on the Aberystwyth Arts Centre websiteThere is a really good selection of films to see with the usual magnificent views over Aberystwyth from the cafe tables.Well worth a visit again !
Good university.
It has not been a pleasant experience. I had deposited my seat booking fee of GBP 5000, but couldnt get the CAS letter. After which, I requested for the refund through mails to the University, but they rarely respond my mails. Its been more than a month now, still not much update on my refund. Ive tried every possible way to get my money back, but Im left with this last choice i.e giving my review here. I shall update if the university responds and update me on my refund.
Excellent open day at the University. Well organised, the yellow T shirt gang were so professional and it was a treat having live music from the solo performers.
Looks good. Only went for an open day.Everyone was very helpful.
Ive literally just moved in today. Seems alright. Check back on this review in 3-4 years when I can give you a more accurate response.
i was looking for a uni in 2020 and they outed me as trans to my parents before never using my chosen name again. kinda not a vibe. if youre trans and looking for a uni dont go here
Comfortable accommodation lovely location with beautiful views
Stayed at Fferm Penglais studio room. The room was well designed but the bed was the most uncomfortable EVER, and the bedding was cheap and very nasty.
Great uni, wonderful placeHighly recommendedJust been to our daughters graduation and it was lovely.Just rather a lot of steps as it is very hilly!
It’s a very satisfying school with great learning environment
Lovely campus
Very worst. This college is promoting the students to take the exams from online helpers. Students are paying the funds to the online exam helpers to take thier own exams . College is not taking actions against them . Even i have mailed them with all the proofs and chats of the student along with the payment what they paid to the helpers . But still no action is taken . Its too horrible
Open day with my daughter at the university today Everybody was so helpful..friendly and inviting. She is starting her nurse training in September. The 3 year course looks absolutely fantastic!!. Im sure she will be extremely happy and successful in her studies with the lecturers support. They were amazing , very approachable...motivated and extremely kniwledgeable!!.
Went to a concert, had a great evening of entertainment from Robert Plant and his excellent band.
Helpful and friendly staff and student ambassadors made our visit a real pleasure.
Was there for the open day. The International Politics building was superb. I love the flexibility of the course and it is clear they listen to the students.
Lovely university. Great town and place.
Always good, but the rock shop in town was closed.
The university itself is incredible. Great facilities and amazing teachers. A good student union and shop with fair prices, other places such as Ibers also have good deals. The accommodation is a bit hit-and-miss so go for Fferm Penglais if you can. Getting up the hill can be a struggle but its all worth it. The weather in the town is very capricious but it doesnt take away from this excellent center of education.
Dropped eldest off 5 days ago. Facilities are good and well maintained the view to the sea is brilliant as you pull out of campus. Weather was grey but it was warm.
Excellent communication got the key and the rooms are basic but nice
I think itll be a good time for my daughter study
Lovely campus nearby some natural reserves.
University tour. As a parent viewing with a potential student, we were taken on the tour by an existing student who was very friendly and knowledgeable.Covid friendly tour which greatly impressed.Great place.
A lovely green campus although accommodation could be an issue for some
Nice spacious rooms with double beds.
Hilly, and lots of gyms in various locations near accommodation as well as the pool complex. No excuse for unfit students, they can all live very healthy lives with good sea air!
Lovely area/environment havent been able to experience the buildings yet
Education for students. Toilets for the passerby. Decent food for visitors.
My daughter is in Rosser halls here. Loves it. Accommodation sort any problems they have very quickly.
As a previous student and employee, dont come here. I paid £9000 to receive a completely different course than I paid for, to not be allowed to sit assesments (no computor/internet and took until beyond the deadlines for these to be providedand to lose my job without notice. The university has no qualms with breaking legally binding tenancy contracts and refused to refund my deposit, as well as many others, within the agreed period. Online provision did not come close to the advertised course content, despite this refunds were not offered.Staff members are terribly unhelpful, with even my tutor rarely answering emails. Security staff are often rude and incompetent.Do not trust statistics such as the National Student Survey - this survey only includes graduates and doesnt allow drop outs, including those the university failed, to have a vote and as such is not representative of the true student experience. This itself serves to highlight the Universities perogative - profit over education. As a staff member I can say that the majority of my coworkers had various qualms with both the university and its various supervisors and their decisions. I was also aware of coworkers who frequently drank alcohol during their shift - a very concerning trend given the supposed professional nature of Aberystwyth University, but understandable given the incompetence of management (HR, supervisors etc). An even more serious trend was drug use, something that was also common. Staff members often, and in fact usually, failed to adhere to the universities guidance regarding cleaning even during the ongoing pandemic. The university often failed to ensure that correct PPE was available for staff, such as suitable gloves.Overall the university promises a lot, but fails to provide anything close to a value for money experience. It seems to function based on attracting customers, and their money, then disregarding them once they are here. Do not attend AU if you value your time, money and health.
Awesome student accomodation, very nice spec rooms and the common rooms are so grand its amazing
Great atmosphere, a very beautiful location; picturesque. A must-visit university.
Aberystwyth University is a great but terrible place, It has spacious but small dorm rooms for students. the weather is formitable but calming. Its always either cold or hot and sometimes warm. It rains and snows alot bit it is occasionally like the desert. the professors easy to talk to and super helpful with practice but they were only avalible during the summer and during vacations so I couldnt speak to them during the acidemic year. The students are super involved on campus but club day there was no one on the campus, just some old dusty flyers. I think its a great school you should attend and its also the worst school in the world.
Not a bad place to stay, the only quibble I had was the Tamed Da restraunt, where the server was using the scrambled egg ladle to move the bacon and sausage around he plate but still told me it was vegetarian.
Lovely University steeped in history.... Low crime town ideal for students.
My parents and I attended the July open day and were thoroughly impressed by the university.Everyone who was helping out was happy and enthusiastic about the university. The facilities were clean, well presented and everything that is needed was within walking distance, with plenty of people to ask for help if necessary. The accomodation was nice, although the rooms in rosser were quite small. The accomodation that is off of the main campus is nicer, but comes with a higher price tag (although still not that expensive). The only thing I wasnt a fan of during the day was how many steps there were and how hilly the university was (although obviously this cant be helped).
Youve always got to appreciate the welsh universities - out in the great outdoors, with scenery that can only take your breath away. High standard of teaching, in a city small enough you can walk from one side to the other in a single day. A refreshing sea salt breeze flowing through the town, making you feel alive each and every day...... still, too bad it isnt Bangor University ;)
Nice Campus, but its a good climb up the hill in cold, wind and rain that day. Taxi!
I studied computer science at this uni but needed more grounding to study so reverted to an NV Q in business Administration and achieved NVQ level 111 admin.I studied an MBA Administration Management postgraduate study.I studied a online course in business entrepreneurship and achieved a BA in business entripreneurship.I then moved to uni of glamorgan to study a BSC in law. Worked 1st and 2nd year but did not finish the course.I was VP accommodation officer in the private sector on the students union
Fantastic university. Excellent facilities. Wonderful staff. Great student support.
Amazing University! The international admissions department is simply a dream! Marian is extremely knowledgeable and professional. She makes the stress of applying just melt away. Prof. Ryszard Piotrowicz is simply brilliant. I cannot wait to pursue my doctoral degree in Law here. An added bonus is the beautiful location of this university. Its like something out of a fairytale book--quite literally the closest thing to heaven. Recommend this university 100%.
Visited for a 2 days experience. We were wimpy and took a bus to the top. Props to the bus tho, it basically climbed mount Everest. Upon exiting the bus, attach oxygen masks for high altitude and enter the University. Providing you have not yet passed out you can enjoy all of what the university has to offer. IGN rates canteen food as 5/-3 however heres a tip. Go to your room then phone up a pizza from the local takeaway. Unfortunately the delivery guy couldnt do parkour and so I actually had to leave my room, so thats 0.5/1000 on ign. Upon actually receiving the pizza however it was pretty good so you should attend Aber just for that reason.P.s: probably a gyarados in the sea.
Went here for food, was very good. Gave me two yorkshire puddings which I appreciated.
A very Great place to be..Great facilities and wonderful people. The environment supports academic growth so perfectly.
Beautiful campus, excellent facilities and some very good shops/cafes on site.
Lovely Campus with some nice food outlets too. Ta Med for decent lunches and dinners along with coffee and cakes. Arts Centre for all you entertainment needs and more coffee cake and food. Ta med Bach for coffee and cake and Brynamlwg for sit down meals.Love the wildflower verges and campus walks and of course the views out over Aberystwyth... If Carlsberg made University Campuses.....
