Not sure why the manager was cramping tables from a roped off area into the open area and not just using the seating right where it was. It was like making your family only use half the table. Apart from that every thing else was great.
We stopped in while on a tour. I had the steak pie+ chips/gravy. All were freshly made and very tasty. The wedges were great too. Service quick and air conditioned! It was perfect for lunch.
Yep I also should have read the reviews before dining, such a terrible experience the service was ridiculously bad and the food was below average. Such a shame they are struggling to find good experienced staff.
We had a lovely lunch here with views through trees. A good choice in the menu and nice beers.
Waitress was impatient and refused to change our order even though she hadnt even walked to the kitchen yet.Business tip: consider hiring some staff to help during busy periods.
Food was pretty basic and average. Service again was mediocre, except for the one lady waiting our table whom I wish I had gotten her name. She was lovely and offered us a table outside for an even better view - in which shows off the rainforest beautifully. Overall was an okay lunch but wouldn’t be rushing to get here again anytime soon.
We got burgers and the patty was a wonderful home made mince patty. The chips had a wonderful high end fish and chip style quality.Wonderful view of the rainforest and if you look hard enough you can see the cable cars.
Would leave zero stars if we could. Undercooked burger, hair in an excuse for a caesar salad, rude and pushy waiting staff who answed her mobile phone whilst taking a customers order. Wish we had read reviews before having our day in Kuranda ruined. Do not make the same mistake as us and and avoid it like the plague.
We came here for lunch ten years ago and the meal and service was so poor I argued with the person at the checkout about paying the bill. I wish wish wish I had checked out the reviews on Trip Advisor or Google before going in. We are in Kuranda today and I’m checking out the reviews to see if it’s improved. Looks like it’s still just as bad. Please please avoid if possible. It was such a dampener on our trip up to Kuranda Village last time and this time I am fortunate enough to be able to walk on past!!
Unfortunately we forgot to check the reviews before we went in… $70 for what can only be described as some basic tuck shop food …and that’s not being fair to the tuck shop … very very disappointing 😳
We waited there for 1 and a half hours to get our food. The chips were over cooked. Every single item was overpriced. The staff seemed to be clueless on what they were suppose to be doing. The burger and milkshake were mediocre, and still by far the best things at that restaurant.
The service was disgusting, It was the worst eggs Benedict and coffee I have ever tasted, and it was way overpriced. I spilt my coffee on the way out and not one of the staff asked if I was ok, as the coffee was very hot. The brown curly haired waitress was extremely rude and when I told her my meal was aweful she ignored my complaint, never ever go there, its a terrible place to dine
Shocking experience, we were in the front of the queue, the waitress walked past us and served the couple behind us without acknowledging us. We just walked out, one to avoid.
Ordered 2 cokes and they were expired. Was then overcharged but didn’t realise until we left. Definitely avoid this place.
rude staff plus frozen fish and crinkled oven chips deep fried which was a joke as said barramundi on menu but was definitely birds eye frozen fish.Went here 6 years ago and thats why we went back but has to be new owners as was very disappointing and would not recommend apart from it should be closed down
The view is great and the restaurant was air conditioned, it felt a bit crowded but tables quite organized. The customer service was shockingly terrible for the ambiance the restaurant holds. We had to wait for almost an hour to get our food served, we understand for a fully booked restaurant the wait time would be high, but we were not even served with the drinks until we reminded them for it after half an hour. The butter chicken and the rice was cold as if stale and just re-heated. Pizza was burnt to crisp. The quality of food was very unsatisfactory. Definitely not worth the wait and the cost!
Very rude customer service! The waiting time was long, in addition to it the waitress was extremely unprofessional when we requested for veg options. Suggesting for a veg dish and asking us to try it out was all that was expected. She straight up said you can leave if you don’t want to eat.Such kind of people should NEVER be working in a hospitality industry. Would never recommend anyone here. Spare yourself time and look for other options in Kuranda.
Worst place in Kuranda, rude staff with a bad attitude. Asked for a rainforest view and was told they four seater rainforest seats. The place had a lot of seats and most were empty. The manager eventually agreed to letting us have a four person table. Then a waitress told us we had to move. We began to explain when she said "OK if your gonna throw a tantrum stay thre.We didnt need to eat there after that.
Wish we had read the reviews before coming here. Average food. Overpriced and fairly sure we got overcharged for our meal. Wont be back again.
The views were amazing but the food was so overpriced for what you got. Crocodile sausages, the chips were reheated and I had spaghetti bolonaise which was ordinary, cheesy garlic bread that was soggy. We also had a milkshake each. The total for that was $82. You had to take a slip of paper upto the register to pay and no tax invoice so no idea what we paid for and had to wait in line for 15 minutes to pay. Will never go there again.
* TOURISTS AVOID*What an absolute circus. The young water abruptly said follow me, pointed at a table and said stand here, she continued to clear off another table for us and said now we are outside. Did a dodgy job at cleaning the table and left the previous diners half drunk drink on the table. The menu was basic, extremely over priced. The waiter who took our order (infamous curly Hair lady as per the other reviewswalked over and said what can I get for you. I had to navigate the least expensive thing on the menu for what was actually being served. I decided on the lasagne and chips as that’s the least likely to be messed up and I hadn’t seen a bad review on it. What a mistake. It was an oily mess, and a pathetic serving size. I left hungry. What a tourist trap, they know they will have a constant flow of money with the hundreds of new people each day.
This post is a minus 10. Went to this restaurant today and waited in line for a while. Eventually we got yelled at from across the room seat for 2, we said yes. This rude arrogant lady pointed and said there. So we went and sat down. Waited again then another rude lady came up and asked ask our order, we then said what we would like, then she turned around and said just remember we are busy, nothing else just that they were busy. We sat for another 15 min and still no drinks. I then googled the restaurant and read the comments which now I so wish I should of done that first because I found no good Comme lots about this restaurant. We then got up and left. This is a big reminder to anyone. Google the business first because this place should absolutely not be in business.
Beautiful view. Meal was priced how you’d expect in a tourist spot (18-25 pp)- but it’s too basic to be priced that high. The main staff are rude, the younger help work hard but seem stressed the whole time. We got pie and gravy and the fish and chips.
Awful. Burger (kangaroowas very average, some chips uncooked, rude service and the coffee was shocking. I expect they don’t need good food as the location is perfect for a constant stream of new customers. Avoid it.
I wish I could review in negative for this place. Staff is rude. We ordered 2 coffee and a drink and a garlic bread to start with. But they said we need to order atleast 15$ per person. We had two kids under 5 and they asked to order food worth 15$ for them too. When we said ok, give us time to think what more they asked no order at that moment. They dont have options for vegan food at all plus staff is super rude. I would advise dont go here at all.
Worse fish and chips I have ever had. Fish definitely frozen and reheated and chips the same. Badly presented, no lemon, no salad just one piece of fish and chips with a pot of tartare sauce and one of tomato sauce.
I have dined here twice in the past 2 years and I have to say the service is lacking majorly. When complimented and thanked the staff member for her patience all I got back was a retort of how long she’d been serving for 25yrs. Not necessary at all and it went downhill from there. For an area that depends on the tourism industry, when informed that the service is poor and the side of chips (12 in totalfor $3.95 is extremely overpriced even for Kuranda. We won’t be back again.
Beyond disappointing. Over priced for such low quality food. Took forever to get served and waitress was lacking any sort of customer service skills. Multiple other customers walked out while we waited, and we regret not following their lead.
Shocking service. Very rude staff especially the lady on the front desk where you pay. The lady came with my tea and dropped the jug, spilling milk all over my bag. She very quickly tried to wipe it up with a dry piece of paper towel leaving half the milk still on it then walked away. Didn’t like it when we only ordered drinks however after the service we received glad we did. Went elsewhere for food. Lots of other cafes in town that have better service. The only thing good about this place is the view!
only saw the worst ever! reviews after we ordered, so we buckled up for the ride. Ordered wraps, 1 chicken and 1 smashed avocado. They were good. The chips were good too, hot and crunchy. Service was good, quick and polite; waitress moved the hanging windows so we were out of the breeze. So far 4 starsMy mugachino wasnt great, too milky as if they just added milk only to get the bigger size.On checkout unannounced charges added (not a public holidayand no copy of receipt offered like anywhere else. Thats 1 star.So on average say 3 stars.
Don’t bother…Bar staff were lovely but the wait staff were rude, took their time to seat us, asked us to get our own menus but then pushed us out of the way and told us to move while we grabbed our own menus. She then made sarcastic comments and let other people in before us although we were waiting first. We walked out and went to the much better Thai restaurant 10 steps away xx
Ive never had such a poor experience in my life. Complete waste of money. $66 for a cocktail that might as well have just been juice, the worst iced coffee Ive ever had and two burgers that could only be described as heartbreaking. Curly haired waitress couldnt care less about providing service.
Extremely overpriced very average food compared to establishments 200m up the road, keep walking! AVOID or you will regret it. Curly haired lady curt and cant even manage to smile at the patrons they are extorting.
Not surprised the rating for this restaurant is so low. Our waitress was EXTREMELY rude. No people skills what so ever! No smiles. Only 1 heavy meal, vegan option that was mostly rice and over priced. My mother was placed under a hanging plant that dripped on her. And my coffee was burnt.I brought my visiting mum and grandmother here to show off Kuranda and our lunch was the most disappointing thing of their holiday. Its not even a rainforest view! Theres a bush tree, foreign tree and a weed!
Yeah, nah mate. Went with a group, no one is happy with this place. Very unfriendly staff, an hour wait for food, expensive and average quality. One star is for the bolognaise which was actually delicious, the steak was blue even though we ordered medium. I’m nicknamed ‘The Fang’ and even I couldn’t stomach it’s bland moo’ing horror. Obviously relies on unwitting tourists for business, and not repeat customers as after reading a lot of these other reviews we have learnt our lesson to check before hand.
Took almost half an hour after we were seated to be served, then another 25 minutes for warm, overpriced bottles of beer. The people sitting next to us were seated, served and provided with drinks within 15 minutes. Unsure if serving staff are being overworked or just if there is a poor attitude. Not holding out hope for the food to redeem the experience
Stayed for lunch… felt like we had dinner. Don’t come here if you are hungry. You will be waiting for a long time. Ordered medium steak and I think it was still mooing on the plate. Curley haired waitress was abrupt. Do yourself a favour and go to one of the many other fabulous restaurants during your stay at Kuranda.
Zero stars. All drinks excessively overpriced. While restaurant was clean and tidy, staff were about as polite as you could be with a gun held to their heads.Chips over cooked though the kangaroo burger was tasty enough not to take it straight back and walk away
If I could give zero stars I would. Over price, over cooked. Seafood basket was of frozen ingredients for 33$ I have had way better from the corner fish and ship shop. They couldnt even cook chip they were that hard and dry. Save your money the pub at the train line 1000% better.
We visited Kuranda and had our day ruined by the attitude of the person at the payment counter at this establishment. We made it clear when we entered that we wanted only two coffees. We were served two of the worst coffees we have tasted in a long time and we drink coffee EVERY day. We left without drinking it.When we tried to pay, the ZeroPeoplesSkills-man at the desk said that the minimum payment was $20 if we wanted to use a credit card. He was unwavering and put his hand out towards me and asked for me to hand him my credit card. There was no sign that said minimum charge. The person who served us didn’t mention it.We paid cash and left.On the brighter side, a lovely lady came out and apologised and tried her very best to placate us, but it was too late. I’d like to sincerely thank her. She should be in charge!I would give this place a miss until they get a person with some courtesy on the payment counter.
The views from the air-conditioned deck were beautiful, and the waitress was lovely. The only thing letting this place down was the food. It took a while to come out, which while the restaurant wasnt busy, I understand that quality food takes time to prepare so I wasnt too fussed... until the food came out. The food certainly wasnt the worst Ive had, it was edible, but it was really bland - it tasted like it was pre-cooked, frozen, and then reheated. I dont usually complain, but when youre being charged $25 or so for a meal, you would expect it to taste reasonably better than it did. The portion sizes were also smaller than youd expect from such a price point. My friend ordered a pie, and he unfortunately couldnt eat the whole thing, probably would have gotten a better one from the bakery across the road for half the price. Also, pretty sure we were overcharged a few dollars. Such a shame really, everything else about the place is lovely :(
The food was supermarket food I had a burger there was no dressing in it. Very expensive the price of a 4 star restaurant. It looks family run and could be the issue here. Will definitely not return. 1 star for the lovely lady who serviced us. after the curly haired lady was rude when she took our drink order. Beware Im pretty sure they are over charging and ripping people off when you start to go down that road its over. DO NOT GO HERE.
Nice respite in an air-conditioned restaurant on a very hot day. Rainforest views were stunning. Service was quick, portions were generous. Croc sausages were a lovely surprise. Drinks were so refreshing. Had no issues with the service, appreciating how busy they were with all the tourists.
Positives: The view was great. The restaurant was well spread out and not crowded.Things to work on: Customer Service- the waitress was quite pushy, trying to get us to order more food. Having staff check to see how the meals while being eaten would be nice too.Ice Chocolate- Presentation was sloppy as the it was made with chocolate syrup on the bottom, a scoop of ice cream with milk on top. The drink was not mixed and the ice cream was leaking on the side of the glass.
This place was...fine. The menu was very fairly wide ranging and had heaps of options like burgers, pizza, pasta, curry, sweets and cakes, fish and chips and some "Aussie" options like kangaroo and crocodile. Food service was quick and they have local beer on the menu. It was quite expensive for what it was though and there are plenty of better food options around. The food felt pre-cooked and just reheated. Its a nice atmosphere on the outside verandah. The leafy outlook is very pleasant.
This was an all around terrible experience. It started with the grumpy woman that sat us. After that lovely experience, it took quite some time before anyone bothered to take our drink order. During this time we noticed at least two tables leave from lack of service.Once we were able to order, we had to wait quite some time for our food to arrive. When it arrived, the only thing on my plate that didnt taste microwaved was the salad. The steak was dry and rubbery and mostly just grey on the inside. Not what I would have expected for a medium rare T-bone. The chips tasted like left over from yesterday heated to like warm in the microwave.None of the other meals we received were any better. Even our small child that only wanted plain rice was left disappointed. The food was definitely not worth the wait.
The waitress smiled and were very friendly, im not sure what people are saying about them saying they arent smiling, they ere very happy and friendly today! Food was really good! Coffee was nice and hot aswellFood - 7/10Service - 7/10
Gordon Ramseys next project - this place has great potential!Went to this place for the rainforest views and food, but only the views are worth the trip - just. The restaurants menu is overwhelming huge, and the variety is unnecessary. Food is ok, however smaller than normal portions and overpriced. Water glasses mini sized and all patrons got up multiple times for refills. The furniture is old, like the rest of the building. Tab was left at the table for you to bring to the cashier at the end of your meal.. Staff seemed tired, but did the best they could.Focus on the location, simplify the menu and update the decor and youre on to something good!
I actually liked the menu selection. A good range of simple options such as brekky, sandwiches, pizzas, grills/doorstops, burgers, Aussie meats, snacks (such as nachos, wedges, sconesand more. Plus the restaurant was very big and nicely decorated with plants etc.Unfortunately the food was a bit pricey and the staff were not the most welcoming. We felt a bit rushed (even though the place was almost entirely emptybecause we got asked for our order 3 times when we werent ready (having to send them away each time). The first time was literally right after we were seated, before wed even picked up a menu. Then again only 3 minutes later when one member of the family hadnt even had time to get back from the bathroom (so still hadnt seen the menu). By the 3rd time we just felt rushed and guilty for their impatience. Ive never had this happen anywhere else.
Nice food and great prices - fast attentive service and helpful staff. Burgers are nice! Only complaint would be that everything is very simple (for example, your burger is literally a meat patty on a woolworths burger bun(not even butteredand some melted cheese on top
