River Jacks Cafe Berri in Berri and Barmera

Saw this beautiful cafe and thought what a perfect spot to stop and have a late lunch. I wish I didn’t stop there. From the moment we walked in we were told that we had to hurry up and make a choice as the kitchen was closing, the lady serving us was extremely rude. I observed her with another customer who was enquiring about what’s on there menu and the same thing. The guy ended up leaving due to the unfriendly nature of the staff. We ordered wedges as to not be too much of a bother and were extremely disappointed. They were served uncooked, raw potato couldn’t even eat them. We left all that we ordered and left the place extremely dissatisfied.

Lovely coffee and food. Always the best place to stop off on your way through Berri. Such a beautiful view on the river!

Beautiful place and service, unfortunately myself and my family did not enjoy the beef burger at all. Looked like dog food and taste was disgusting. We had originally ordered chicken burgers and were told they no longer had any. None of us finished the burgers. All we got was an apology, no refund nor offered something else.

Friendly relaxed vibe with funky table and couch seating inside and typical deck seating outside. Cheerful staff who are efficient and helpful.

Pretty view and friendly staff. Coffee was nice and the cakes seem a bit stale. Ordered a milkshake, got milk with flavouring with no ice cream added to it and not even cold. They took it back and brought it back after a while, in the same glass with a lot of spills over it. Such a shame for such a lovely little place

The vegie burgers are divine, that being said Im not even a vegetarian lol

Staff friendly, but that’s it :( Had banana milkshakes plus a take away scone with jam and cream. Have had better milk shakes, it was ok. The scone was dry, jam nice as for the cream was runny not thickened at all . I placed jam on the scones and the cream just ran all over the place. Lucky we had been out on the grassed area. We had cream running all over our fingers and hands, then had to find a place to wash up. Why, would you not thicken the cream ?

While away in Berri I heard about a little gem on the Murray called the River Jacks Cafe. Up early on my first day I went for breakfast and wow what an experience!!! The staff were warm, friendly, funny and had great banter.The breakfast I was served was beyond perfect (Eggs Benedict), a merit to the kitchen staff who are obviously very skilled in there culinary abilities... it must be said it was flawless.And the elixir for the early starter, The coffee, oh the coffee!... As I sat down to read the paper, the aromas from the barrister brought me awake and moments later the smiling waitress brought over my Cappuccino which was delicious and had a velvety texture, you could almost say it was decadent.I would say this picturesque cafe has a five star rating, I enjoyed it that much I visited every morning and was consistently impressed... but hey dont take my word for it, Next time your in Berri swing past, say hi and meet the team..... I promise you it makes for a memorable dining experience.

Great food and service, like that they had a wooden game to play, would like to see more of this. Though tables mostly dirty and seagulls are a huge problem not very friendly.

Cool looking cafe in an excellent location. View was great and coffee was good. The day had been ok but as we got to the Cafe late in the arvo it had gotten quite cool so that tempered our enthusiasm for sitting there. But I would go back on Amory warmer day and know it would be good.

This is one of the worst lunches we have had in a while. Ordered the charcoal chicken and got ‘bin chicken’ chicken was oven cooked, tough, dry and served with extras. Lungs, liver, feathers and neck. Not good

It was about the only place open in Berri for breakfast and the reviews were a mixed bag but i thought id take a punt. I was greeted almost immediately by friendly staff, they were busy which gave me time to read the menu. I ordered a large coffee and bacon, eggs with mushroom added and was not disappointed. The serving was large and delicious, the eggs were a little milky but thats how i prefer them so winning there. the young lad running tables was courteous and professional. coffee great.

Good place for a small lunch or coffee and cake.The place is very cute inside with a couch to relax and a nice view of the riverThe kitchen closes pretty early so be aware otherwise coffee and drinks is until 4pm.You can sear outside too.Friendly staff overall good experience.

Cafe is at a perfect location alongside Murray river. This is definitely a sight to behold. Cheerful and polite staff. I ordered Omelette(eggs, spinach and feta cheesein the breakfast, so delicious, fresh and perfect temperature. I have never had this yummy omelette before. Thank you!

Have just had lunch here and was very happy with food, coffee and service. We will definitely return when in the area again. We had the chicken burger and the chicken caesar salad. Excellent!!

Me and my Partner visited for breakfast. A nice setting overlooking the river, nice spot to go out with friends. I got a Mocha and my partner got a strawberry smoothie. I orded the Greek Scrambled Eggs with Bacon and my partner ordered the spinach and Mushroom croissant. For how busy it was the food and drinks came out quite quick. The mocha wasnt the greatest, the smoothie was decent and the croissant was average. The Greek eggs were quite good when eaten with the toast and bacon but on their own were quite runny and the feta tasted cheap. Could have been worse but could have been better 🤷‍♂️

Coffee was hot, food was good ,let you take dogs .would you believe my husband said to much chicken in burger

Delicious fish & chips and very generous serving size. Lovely coffee too.

Frozen food. I ordered fish and chip and it was the last meal to come out. Soon as I went on eat the fish I found it was still party frozen inside. They re cooked the same fish till it was almost burnt. This is one place I wouldnt be taken friends to eat.

Wife and i had the steak sandwich and fish and chips.Steak sandwich was really nice, but would have been nicer if the steak was in strips. Fish and chips was a huge serve.

Lunch Friday 1/04/2022Chicken burger , in burger bun , almost black when served ,surely cook ,chef ,could see and replace what he was offering .Other 3 meals supplied were acceptable ,we ate inside ,with multiple flies in attendance , as wind was quite cool and blustery outside .Table we sat at was quite sticky on top ,I presume it was wiped down after last-use but do not know for certain, looking at member of staff doing that job he was far than tidy in appearance.Watching staff refilling drinks refrigerator , I wonder how often stock is rotated as new stock was placed in front of drinks already on shelf.All in all a rather disappointing experience which we will not be in a hurry to visit again

Beautiful place for a coffee, quick bite or a bigger meal. Awesome to watch the world go by relaxing by the river!

Nice food with friendly staff and lovely views over the river

Nice Riverside cafe. Breakfast menu was enticing and delicious. Wish I was hungry enough to try more. Coffee was great. Food took just over 10mins to arrive which was very good considering how busy they were. Prices also reasonable.

Set right on the Riverbank gives one a great view and ambience of a beautiful town of Berri. Whilst service can be a little on the slow side doesnt really detract from the feed you get. Food wise the serving size is quite reasonable and well priced. The Chicken Burger signature was quite tasty. Everyone at table did enjoy their food. If youre staying or just cruising past Berri, definitely stop by and try River Jacks out.

Awesome bacon roll and good coffee right on the banks of the river. Food was hot and the scenery relaxing. Good start before making our way back to Adelaide.

Dont waste your time here.1. What service? We pre booked and when we arrived a waitress told us she would show us to our table. This waitress disappeared out the rear of the cafe and never came back. A second waitress pointed us to our table and said that she would come with menus and then never did.2. Poor customer skills? We spoke to staff on numerous occasions when we booked, found our table and asked for menus, to learn when we ordered that they forgot to tell us that half of their menu was missing due to supplies not being delivered.3. Went fishing. It took 45 minutes to cook a fish and chips and a bowl of chips. Asked at 35 minutes if our meals were still coming to be told it was being plated up. 10 minutes later it came out. I counted, there was 5 small tables and werent even busy4. Oil Oil and more Oil. If you want food (inc saladcovered in oil and soggy then enjoy. It was that bad that I would have said that my fish was re-heated from the day before but I know that the Cafe was closed the day before so who knows what the chef did.5.What Flavor. The fish and chips was flavorless. The only flavor came from the tarte sauce.Simply, dont eat here. If you want a nice view, go to the Pike River Wine Centre and share a pizza.

This place is located on a beautiful part of the Murray.The inside of the cafe looked messy and outdated.Crispy chips!!, what a joke, they were soggy within two minutes. The salad was disgusting. The fish was good.The steak sandwich wasnt a sandwich, it was a porterhouse steak (Nice meatin a burger bun with fat and gristle.Lucky seagulls enjoyed the food.We were very disappointed as this cafe is advertised in the River Time as a place to eat.

Will never go back! Terrible service (asked for the food for the six of us to be served together but there was almost a 40-minute gap between the first one and the last served despite the fact that our brekky orders were very similar and could’ve been cooked all at once!), average food (watery poached eggs, tasteless, too much sauce on everything, unfriendly lady taking orders), the only plus was the location, nice riverside view.

Cute ambience and cafe by the river! However, food was ok - steak sandwich was quite disappointing as the steak was dry and the bun was rock hard. We also ordered the salmon with Asian greens and lacked a bit of flavour, the bamboo shoots were a miss for me inside the noodle dish.

Disappointed. Ordered bacon and eggs on toast (quantity was good), with mushrooms, tomato and hash brown as add ons. At 10.15am was told they had run out of hash browns (which is a $4.00 add onfor the day- Theres a Woolworths literally 2 minute walk away... Also very disappointed with the extras - pic attached is $6.00 I paid for tomato and mushrooms. Mushrooms werent even sauteed, just dry fried. Were quite tasteless and dry. Shame really as the location is awesome.

Its a nice place by the river just needs a little bit of cleaning. Has ample space to sit out on a good day. Food was fine and didnt have to wait for it too long...so that was nice.

A very cosy cafe located right at the riverfront with serene views of the Murray River. Friendly staff, good coffee and generous serve of delicious food all with reasonable price. Highly recommend when visiting Berri.

We went on public holiday Monday. Charged us extra for almond milk. We asked for two almond lattes, one half strength. When the girl brought it out she said she wasnt sure which was which and that they were probably both half strength. She said she would check but never returned. I think the almond milk was sweetened so the coffee had an odd vanilla flavour.

Great food, great service at reasonable prices. Good coffee too. These are the after photos. Too good to leave any.
