The home itself is nice as the owners seem to be themselves. (Only communicated by phone and email Record rains upstream and a grown up river bank by the home prevented us from being able to fish by the house. We left three nights of rent money on the table because of poor fishing opportunities and little else to do. Contacted the owners and a fishing guide that we used to try and find a river dock to fish from with no luck. Visited all of the communities around half hour away and the junk/antique stores for things to do. All of the fishing guides locally were busy because of the poor fishing conditions so we only got four hours to fish in which we did well with the guides assistance. I had contacted the owners by email about the rains and the water levels the week before leaving for Arkansas (ten hour driveand was told all was well. However, at that point they had not released the spillway gates on the dam which occurred three days before our arrival. The water was up to the third step on the stairs going down to the river with no bank to stand on. Compare this with the stairway picture provided here on Google and imagine the water on the stairs. It wasnt that the fishing was poor....we couldnt even get a line in the water. The area is pretty nice as are most of the people we met. The local towns are dying with about one of three businesses being shuttered. If you cant fish, there isnt much else to do without a good drive in front of you. I paid over $1,200 and my family stayed for four nights of a seven night annual vacation. No partial refund was offered for our lost nights. I waited two weeks to see if an offer would be made before reviewing. I did not ask for one. The owners lived up to their part in providing a pretty clean home by the river. I called the owner to see if she could locate us another place to fish nearby without us trespassing, but, she couldnt think of anywhere. If we had been able to fish AT ALL by the home this review would have probably been graded higher because we would have stayed our entire vacation. It wasnt an excellent or even a good vacation stay. It was average at best.If I went back to the Bull Shoals area I would consider staying here again, but, for only a two to four night stay reserving only a week or less before to assure that the river water levels would be alright. A person can only watch so much cable TV while on vacation.
Spent a week at Riverside Vacation Homes and enjoyed it. Beautiful views off the deck watched deer in the yard squirrels in the trees lots of birds. Trout fishing out the back door or drive a half mile into the state park to fish. Very nice accommodations we will be back.
