Stopped by here since I was attending an event in the area. Round Again had a vast array of media: CDs, albums, DVDs, etc. And just about every genre you can imagine. A large feat from a small store. The owner lets everyone roam about without hovering over them, yet is available for questions at a moments notice. Service you just cant get at large superstores. The prices are comparable if not lower than similar stores.
Good service nice TVs for the game the cobb salad was not tasty at all
Owner is the most self-important individual I’ve met in this state and will antagonize anyone who isn’t stuck in the ‘70s with him.
Never again. Owner agreed to sell me an album. I showed up during posted business hours to complete the transaction. Store was closed. Next day they were open, I contacted the owner and was told he sold the record to someone else, even after we had an oral contract to sell to me. Had the store been open as scheduled when I went, the deal would have been completed. Owner did not offer any recompense or even an apology for either being closed during business hours OR for selling the item out from under me. I will NEVER give him another chance to earn my business because of his sleazy business practices. There are plenty of better record stores in Providence with friendly, ethical owners like Music Research Library or Olympic Records (just down the street from this place). I recommend taking your business to them instead...I certainly will be doing so!
Super friendly, helpful owner and great prices! Fantastic jazz and R&B selection
Ive known Steve probably 30yrs ,bought sold trade, never had a issue hes. Businessman. If hes been in business this long.i give him credit .its not a easy business. Ill be in again soon.
Havent been there yet but if the owner turns off the flakey entitled spritzers then I will frequent his establishment whenever I get the chance.
Small but well stocked and organized. Good selection of new and used Jazz, Blues, Rock and Pop. Nice place to dig through a few crates and grab whatever might catch your eye. Super nice owner/operator.
Providence has better record stores with nicer owners that deserve your patronage instead.
I like this store because the male clerk up front plays good music to sing along to when you are there and he is frequently singing himself.
Great selection of music from all genres, big jazz selection, owner on site, friendly, made a turntable recommendation
Very cool record store!
The most amazing record shop I have ever visited. The owner is an awesome person and I am so glad that I met him today. I went to get some vinyl for my friend back home in Dhaka, Bangladesh and am truly grateful to my brother who took me to Round Again Records. This place is teeming with gems of yesteryears and I believe you will definitely find what you are looking for and more! I hope I can come back again to Providence and visit the shop just to spend time and chat with the wonderful owner and listen to some music on the jukebox 😁
Went in looking for cassette tapes which they didnt have. But poked around a bit and found some gems
Great shop and very knowledgeable and helpful. I don’t know why there’s a bunch of reviews saying the owner is rude, I’ve only had great experience where he is very helpful and knowledgeable. All I can say is be respectful and you will receive respect back and understand it’s an old school shop (primarily jazz, blues, and classic rock)
Just going to throw this out there--as far as Im concerned, if you are the proprietor of a bookstore or a record store, it is your not only your right, but your RESPONSIBILITY to be grump, a curmudgeon, a belligerent old bridge-troll. If you want bubbly customer service, go buy your records at Urban Outfitters.
Shop has a good selection of records and some are priced fairly. However the owner is just miserable. Maybe if you’re over the age of 50 he might be polite?
went in here with my boyfriend and felt VERY unwelcomed as soon as we stepped foot. the owner sighed at us as if we were unwanted and would get up and fix the position of the vinyls anytime we sifted through them, even though we were very gentle and careful. my boyfriend had accidentally dropped a collection of 45’s in a box, helping pick them up and the owner groaned at him took the 45’s from him and started fixing it himself muttering words under his breath that i knew were fired at my VERY apologetic boyfriend. he had asked the owner a question politely to which he gave a loud no, multiple times, then mocked the way my boyfriend wanted to know if apple pay was welcome. gave a very disrespectful send off too, just an “ok. BYE.” very petty. will not be going here again, the only good thing was finding a brand new version of a day at the races on vinyl for cheap.
Very rude owner after my husband and my kids and neighbors daughter went there today... told my husband to hurry up and purchase what he wanted so my Husband left cause he felt very unwanted there .... maybe he shouldn’t own a store if he can’t be polite to his customers
Owner is a curmudgeon. Sometimes has some decent records at a decent price.
Small quiet place. Had a good collection of vinyl.
Fun, community focused shop with the weekend hang in full display. Excellent jazz section, lots to view and love. Recommended.
Great little shop with an eclectic collection.
Best record store EVER
The person working there is extremely rude and unwelcoming. Definitely never going back
Great spot. Have been shopping here for years! Steve is terrific!
All kinds of music on disks, vinyl and a bunch of other stuff. 👍
Been shopping here for 20 yrs.Best selection and pricing on lps.No junk lps to sift through looking for gems. All categorized, easy to find records that are all near mint or sealed.
Lots of choices
Great records priced right
Rude owner who didn’t like the way I flipped through the LPs (!)Walked out. Plenty of other places to find records.
Great selection and prices. A great place for music lovers.
Went in once and was appalled at the open rudeness of the owner. I have no interest in spending money at a place where the owner is that obnoxious. It’s a wonder he’s still in business.
Called to sell a rock record collection and had me come down . Drove 15 miles to have him thumb through and say not interested without really looking at them. No offer and these were Beatles, Floyd, type albums . Some sell on eBay 200 plus. Anyway he waisted my time
Best for music. Always has been a great store for the past 30+years. Well worth checking out either on line or store visit.
Good prices, great guy..very happy with the business
Ok, let me say that the owner has always been cordial to me. He does have a dry sense of humor and may come off as being curt to those who get their feelings hurt easily. The man is there, and has been there for 38 years, to sell records in great condition, at fair prices. There are a few "touchy feely puppies and rainbows" record stores close by, and in the greater Providence area. You can stick to those if thats your cup of tea, or may be a bit thin skinned. Its ok you wont be judged :They have records too, many of the same and the price is sometimes DOUBLE that of Round Again. Also, some of the conditions of those wouldnt even be allowed in his store. Every time I walk in, hes hard at work CLEANING his used records on a record cleaning machine. When I buy from there, all I have to do is a quick dry dusting with an anti static brush and cue it up. Just about every other place I get my used wax from, I have to do a thorough wet cleaning on my own machine before I even consider playing it. Very often, I find used records in stores, and from dealers, that just got visually looked at and plopped out for sale. Some of these "Vinyl Vipers" get records for next to nothing and sometimes free, and just rush them out to sell. I feel 100% CONFIDENT with EVERY used record I buy from Round Again. These negative reviews that say hes overpriced are just plain BS. Thats unless they are buying junk for a buck or two at thrift stores, or the flea. My guess is they got mad the red carpet wasnt rolled out for them when they walked in the door. This guy knows the business and if something is priced "high" its for a darn good reason. Be brave, visit, and see for yourself, or not... More for me :)
Great prices, great selection of records I havent seen anywhere else. The owner didnt bother me at all. Way better prices than a certain shop on College Hill.
Often rude. Probably good selection.
Steve is a great guy with one of the longest running stores in the area for 25+ years, you will see that he lets go of good music for a good price. A lot of locals and visitors might not understand his dry character and witty responses to some customers who usually ask stupid questions or act just stupid, in the "stupid" world we live in now.. Its all about the learning experience and true passion to listen to music...if you are looking for a "treatment" instead of record shopping, go to Newbury Comics and enjoy your day. Round Again Records always caters to the real listener.
Used buy stereo equipment from Round Again in the 90s. My Philips turntable lasted 25+ years (used)! Lets not forget record store owners are trying just as hard,to locate the vinyl you want....Learn from your elders dont blast them. Round Again is Small but big on quality.
If you dont like this store or feel the owners rude, its probably because you dont belong in there. The owner knows his music & is actually a very polite & good hearted man. Most importantly he has an ear & eye for good music. There a great selection of Rock music along with an even better selection of well priced obscure jazz LPs. Ive found gems in this store, stuff that people would fight over in bigger cities. Definitely one of the select stores I like to go digging for good records.
Owner is a dick
The owner of this store takes supreme pride in every aspect of the business, his humor is "dry" and some people just dont "get it" so they resort to unfair descriptions of his personality. His business is his life and he wants everyone to appreciate how important music is in any format! He is as important to the preservation of rare music in Providence as the Independent Man is to the Rhode Island State House. Steve Capaldi
Owner was extremely arrogant and rude. I would suggest that everyone take their business elsewhere.
The owner gave a lot of attitude when i was checking to make sure the records where in good condition
The owner is extremely rude and unfriendly. The records are overpriced for the selection
The owner is a jerk and the records are overpriced and not impressive.
The owner is extremely rude and belligerent. I have never had anyone talk to me disrespectfully the way he did.
Round Again is, for me, the best record store in Rhode Island. Plenty of genres available and Steve is very picky about the condition of what he will sell. The great majority of records there are priced within anybodys budget. There are also interesting collectables coming and going. If you go here and leave unsatisfied, you just arent into records. As to the negative reviews, if you want touchy feely, go get therapy.
