We have been going to Sandy Creek for about 4 years, we go just as often as we can. Our grandson loves the creek that is right behind the campsites (great sound to wake up to as well). Staff is amazing, you can buy firewood and he delivers to your site. Clean sites, clean restroom w/ shower, electric and dump station. Cant ask for any better.

Very basic. Not a destination park but very well-thought-out and good people. Good access to Stone Mountain state park. Stop to keep the kids busy.

If you are visiting Stone Mountain, Sandy Creek is the perfect place to camp! (Personally checked off all the boxesThe owner was welcoming and kind. The camp sites were spacious, the play area offered things for children of all age’s, there is a beautiful creek that runs through the property, a direct hiking trail into Stone Mountain national forest, and the property is well lit at night. I felt safe when I took my dog out in the middle of the night as well as the entire stay. We booked our next stay before we left.

I absolutely loved this campground. So beautiful and relaxing. The owner was fabulous! Super nice and accommodating, he welcomed me and my dogs with open arms. We loved this site so much we extended our stay…twice! The campsite is super close to Stone Mountain…a short trek from the campground and you’re on the Stone Mountain trails. I would definitely recommend this campground and would love to stay here again.

We just got home from a week at Sandy Creek Family Campground. Could not be any happier with the accommodations. Our camper wasnt making a ton of hot water so we used the camp showers way more than usual. Super clean, and had a nice heater inside. The host was around when you needed, very helpful, and had great stories about his family and how they relate to the history of Stone Mountain. We even hiked right from our campsite into Stone Mountain State Park. We are looking forward to coming back in the summer so we can enjoy the creek that runs right through the property.

We found hidden treasure in the shadow of Stone Mountain State Park. This small RV park has full hookup with very reliable 50-amp service and crystal clean, natural water. Sewer hookup easy to access. There are a number of tent sites along the creek that have access to water and electriity--bring your hose and 50 extension cord. The bth house was clean and accessible; has male and female sides. All of the sites are very spacious and easy in/out, even for big rigs.WiFi was strong and fast enough to stream TV most of the time. Only down side was no/very limited cell service for our provider Verizon. Our puppies certainly enjoyed all of the open spaces in the park as well as the trail which led from the park into the trails at Stone Mountain. They also enjoyed playing in the creek that runs the length of the campground. There is a nice play area with ample playground equipment for all ages. The camp host/owner was very friendly and helpful; led us to our site, and we completed the paperwork and charges in just a few minutes. This is a very family-oriented park. Our host, Barry, makes everyone feel welcome.

Wonderful privately owned Campground. Great for large tent camping events. Creek side tent sites, as well as rv sites with electric and water available, and some full hook up, with two sewer dump/clean out stations. Very friendly owner, and vert accommodating. Hiking trails.

Great little campground, off the beaten path but not to be missed, especially if Stone Mountain is on your to do list! Owner really took the extra time to make sure we were good and enjoying our stay. No problem getting 39’ toy hauler in with plenty of room to enjoy campsite. While it doesn’t come with all the bells and whistles of a resort, for the price it’s a bargain. Kids had activities such as corn hole boards, ladderball toss, hula hoops and more. There’s a creek that borders the campground that’s perfect for the kids. Best of all, you literally walk right into the state park and are within minutes to waterfalls and short distance to the main Stone Mountain loop, lots of small creek crossings , the kids loved. We saw many people with dogs as well! At the end of the day it’s a very quiet and peaceful place to relax. Bathhouse may be a bit outdated but we didn’t have to use.

Owner is really nice and helpful. The location is laid out well with big spots, water/electric hookups work very well. Very quiet location, great for relaxing. Nice little creek for kids to play in. Playground and Cornhole is provided for all campers. Also bathroom/shower house is well kept and clean 👍👍 if you tent camp there are tent sights also available that has a very secluded feel but still in the midst of all the amenities within a very short walk. The campground location is just outside of the Stone Mountain State Park. If you enjoy hiking, there is a trail right from the campground that is available to hike. Within 14 mins from the campsite you will be at the lower falls of the state park and not have to drive. However if you would rather take your vehicle, the drive to the entrance of the park is only a 8/10 min drive away. My wife and I very much enjoyed our stay and will definitely visit again soon! 😁

Tent campers here! We loved all about this campground. Two adults, a 5 year old, and small pup, all enjoyed ourselves! Every evening and morning we were checked on by owner. Huge play around for the kids of all ages to participate, beautiful land and very nice kept up lots for all types of Campers. Also a small river we pitched our tent beside was extremely peaceful and was a plus at night while sleeping to the river sounds. (If you are a tent camper you know and understand the plus of having a riverside campsite100% going back to this campground. Thank you again for having us!

Terrible attitude and flexibility. I called 48 hours prior to reservation and asked to cancel or reschedule. Weather was going to be 100% of rain! Cancellation was okay but offered zero refund! Asked for a reschedule and was told "were booked". As a general statement. No offer or reschedule for a weekend in the future.Go elsewhere. Do not even bother

So glad we found this campground. There is plenty of space for kids to play in the large field or the creek. We hiked a short distance to waterfalls. The bathhouse was clean and stocked. The grounds are kept clean and mowed. The owner was very nice. We are already planning more trips back to this campground.

Big shoutout to Sandy Creek Family Campground in Traphill NC. Beautiful spacious sites right on the creek. The property runs along Stone Mountain State Park and has a short cut trail that takes you straight to Stone Mountain loop. The owner is super helpful and full of stories about the area. The property was formerly a working dairy on Stone Mountain. It was the perfect weekend get away.

Great little family campground at the base of Stone Mountain. WE dropped in on the fly this Memorial Day Weekend and they had a spot open due to someone cancelling. Water and Electric hook ups. Clean bath house, great family vibe. Campsite are close to each other in case thats not your thing, but they were very full this weekend.Very close to Stone Mountain hiking trails. Our only complaint was that it was a little muggy and buggy for our preferences, but we will definately be back in Fall or a little earlier in spring. Barry the owner was super nice and helpful

This relatively new (starting their 5th year of operationindividually owned campground is right next to Stone Mtn State Park. This park has a tun of potential. I am sure, and I hope, the owners continue to make progress to making this a great RV park. They are off to a great start.

What I loved about this place is it is remote and quiet. At night I could see stars like few places Ive been. Its not fancy but simply elegant in natural surroundings. Also, with a little map reading skill you can easily walk to the state park orange and blue dot trails (orange is stone mountain loop, blue is lower and middle fallsand red triangle horse trails. Bring something for your feet to cross 2 streams without bridges...Barry Hutchinson is owner operator and he knows alot about the area and state park history, plus hes super nice. We had our 28 foot travel trailer and used 30amp service...

Quaint little campground with direct access to Stone Mountain, the best state park for hiking. Barry is still developing the campground so many more amenities to come. Tent sites along the creek, camper sites 10 to 15 yards from the creek. Big play area for kids to run and scream without disturbing other campers.

Great campground right outside Stone Mountain State Park. The owner is great. Very easy to work with and goes the extra mile to ensure you have a good experience. Its only a few mins drive into the park and even has trails connecting to the lower falls. The sites are much larger than most other campgrounds and offer plenty of space. They also left a large open field for recreational use over stacking in more sites. I had a great experience here and will be back.

This campground is wonderful! The property was very well taken care of and nice. Also, has a creek flowing through the backside of the grounds; which is nice for the kids to play in or just to sit and listen. Bath houses were clean, and nice hot water. Wifi was awesome throughout our stay. The owner was so kind had many recommendations for the mountain and what to do. Very laid back place, I really enjoyed my stay and will be back. If youre hesitant, dont be! You will not regret it one bit.

Although its lacking in kid friendly activities it makes up in quaint charm. The owner is very friendly and keeps the grounds very clean. Dont expect WiFi if you need it and cellular service is sort of spotty so prepare accordingly. There is a nice hike up to sliding rock so have your hiking shoes on. You have electric and water hookups but you will have to use the sewer dump which is a little awkward but is manageable. Overall its a nice campground.

Spent a weekend here recently. The campground is small but is perfectly situated outside of Stone Mountain State Park. We could walk out of camper and 100 yards away was the beginning of a hiking trail that takes you a short distance to beautiful falls and the park. Theres a big open area in the campgrounds with lots of outdoor games for the kids, simple but clean bathhouse, and Sandy Creek runs behind all the sites. The sites are grass but level-ish and huge. If concrete pads are important to you, Sandy Creek isnt that. The atmosphere is relaxed, not rule-heavy. The owner is super friendly and helpful. This is a place that well return to again!!

This weekend we stayed for the first time with family and friends! What a pleasant surprise! The camper lots were spacious, has a creek running along the back side which allows the kids to have a fun place to explore and play also gives a relaxing sound to fall asleep to! There is a large open field with nets, playset and games for the kids to enjoy on the front side as well. The bathhouse has 2 stalls and 1 shower, very well kept and hot water! Also to note, there are hiking trails right across the street that leads up to stone mountain w/sliding rocks to enjoy! Our family had a great time and the owner was very helpful and had wood to buy if needed. Thank you for a great trip!

Great friendly camp ground with a short trail that intersects with the Stone Mountain loop trail and only 10 minute walk to the lower falls. Sleeping on the ground is much more comfortable than the State park tent pads. Ask the owner about his farm fresh cheese made on site.

My husband and I stayed over Labor Day weekend 2017. The owner Berry is a great down to earth guy who keeps up the park and does a great job. The first pics on the site were nothing like what we saw on our stay. We saw nice green lawns and a play area for the little ones and an area for adults to play horse shoes and bad mitten. We enjoyed taking a nature hike up a nearby trail that led into the state park to several waterfalls. The campsites were very spacious and firewood was available to purchase. And the sites backed up to a creek. Pleanty of nature, great weather and r&r. Worth a return visit for sure.

Wow what a gem! After buying our first travel trailer I researched a bunch on campgrounds in NC and I am SO happy we found this one. The owner is so friendly and helpful, there are tons of outdoor lawn games for the family to play together and it literally takes about a 10 minute hike to get to the lower falls of stone mountain where my kids got to slide down a natural waterslide. We all had so much fun and I cannot wait to come back.

Peaceful, great owner, i could live there. Trails that lead straight to stone mtn trail. Barry is an awesome friendly man and he also has stables to board horses if you want to bring them. Leave campground property and ride to stone mtn horse trail. Clean bath houses and property has creek that goes right behind campsites. You couldnt find a more peaceful , wonderful place to camp. I camped for 7 days with my 2 dogs and in was totally awesome. I didnt want to leave.

Sandy Creek is a great place to camp for quiet nights where the stars shine brightly. We stayed for a week and each day enjoyable. So close to trails and for us, golf courses. Barry keeps the restrooms very clean. Sites are larger than any weve stayed on. Having wi-fi and using a Roku for TV a plus too.

Quiet and beautiful. Tent sites are super well maintained- also spacious. A family could fit three or four tents in some of them. Sites are by a small creek, as the name implies. Friendly caretaker is icing on the cake. Out of three campsites visited on our vacation, this one stands head and shoulders above the rest.

Great campground with easy access to Stone Mountain Falls. Clean facilities. We picked site 12 and erected our tent on a sand bar beside the creek. Secluded and peaceful listening to the gentle waters. A cool breeze flowed thru our tent and kept us comfortably during the night.
