Sante Churrasco Brazilian Style BBQ in Snowy Monaro Regional

Had dinner here on the last night of the ski season, and hadnt dined here for about two years. I was a little disappointed that the Churrasco style BBQ was no longer offered, but that quickly faded when I saw the awesome dishes on offer in the a la carte menu. The Brazilian dish theme lives on in the menu, with at least the quesadillas, fresh salad/salsa style sides, and the "seafood stew" (proper name escapes me). I had the cheese bread, quesadillas, rice and black beans, and pork ribs, whose serving size was fantastic.The best part of the night was the very kind and cheerful young blonde waitress, who was a fellow person who stutters/once stuttered...once wed shared that fact, we had some great chats while I was ordering (and trying to decide!I ordered FAR TOO MUCH for just me, and went home abso full, satisfied, and with dinner in a container for the following night. Three Thumbs up for Sante! Till next year...ciao for now!

Awesome food, friendly staff and great atmosphere

We loved Sante! The service was excellent and the food was fantastic! The waitresses were very friendly and accomodating to serving a family with young children. The meals came out quickly and the food was fresh, delicious and perfectly cooked. We loved it so much that we went there two nights in a row during at 3 night stay at Thredbo. Highly Recommend!! What a little gem. The food is innovative, staff were down to earth and the ambiance was really welcoming.

Food wasn’t too bad but did not meet expectations for the price. 2 out of the 6 steaks came out very blue when medium was ordered. The response from the chef was very poor and didn’t acknowledge our concerns. Left feeling very disappointed. Will not be returning, the pub down the road sells better steaks for half the price and better service.

No water was brought out when we ordered sparkling. Drinks took over 20 minutes to come to the table. One waiter was rude and when i mentioned how long drinks we’re taking asking ‘Are you timing us bro’? Pretty poor experience although the food was good.

Great steaks and awesome service. The pork spare ribs were a little over cooked and more bbq sauce would have been nice.

Party of 6 people during ski season.This review would have been a 4-5 star except the restaurant served us non-wagyu steak when we ordered wagyu. I felt cheated and lied to.We ordered the cauliflower and bread as starters - which were excellent. For the mains we ordered wagyu rump/sirloin steak - which were cooked slightly overcooked (we ordered medium/medium-rare).However the biggest gripe we had was that the steak served did not look like wagyu and certainly did not taste like wagyu, despite the menu. We would have been happy to pay higher prices (given this is Thredbofor normal steak but the deception is what was hurtful.

Simply put the black Angus on the bone is the best steak Ive had that I can remember. Fenominal.

This restaurant was one of the better ones in Thredbo. It has a bit of a Brazillian theme about it. It was casual and the menu had something for everyone. Steaks are their specialty. I had the BBQ pork ribs which were plentiful & excellent. The chips were horrible as they were over-cooked and mostly the ends of the potatoes. Hubby had the Prawn & Blue Cod Moqueca which is a Brazilian fish-based dish with coconut milk, tomato, capsicum, dende and coriander served with Brazilian rice. This was excellent too. Not having eaten the chips left us with plenty of room for churros which they make in the restaurant. Sensational.Lots of families dining here too.

I was very excited to dine in Thredbo, but the experience at Sante was sadly underwhelming. The staff were very friendly and obviously run off their feet, so I dont want to be blaming them.Our starter was nice, but when the starter arrived, one of our mains arrived. That was weird, but we chalked it up to an error and moved on.Then our drinks arrived, and eventually our mains. When you order an expensive steak, you do expect the chef to follow the request for how you want it done. I asked for a medium steak, and it is a marble steak. It arrived undercooked but that was ok. My wife also asked for medium and hers came rare. It wasnt nice and for a $60 piece of meat, you expect it to be a better cut than the one you get at coles or woolies.I asked my wife, would you recommend this place to a friend, and she said no. I wouldnt either, and that makes me sad, as again, the staff were lovely.

It was a very busy night but the team handled well and still gave me a seat on a cold 🥶 night. The staff are friendly and helpful. The meals were served timely considering the full house of guests. Serving is reasonable and tastes is good. I had a main (vegetarian dish), dessert and ginger beer. Thanks team

A good meal and lovely service. You absolutely have to book ahead. Acoustics are a bit loud in winter with the windows and doors shut, might be difficult for anyone who struggles with background noise. Would definitely go back.

The least recommended restaurant for skiing trip.1/ it’s understandable that the cost is above average in snow resorts, but $55-75 for a really unworthy steak??2/ the steak was super chewy; we all ordered medium rare but it’s well done3/ three of us ordered the same, but they somehow put one of the steaks a different one??4/ they charged higher than the price at the menu

DO NOT BOOK IF YOU WANT ANY GOOD EXPERIENCE IN THREDBOWe booked this restaurant for wedding anniversary butThey don’t care about customers.Got a reminder on 21st June and when arrived it’s closed.The notice on the door mentions“we have tried to contact you” didn’t happen.So now we are standing in the freezing night and all other restaurants are fully booked.Worst thing is the only supermarket foodworks closed as well. Just starving

Overpriced meals and poor service. Used to be the go-to place in town when they had the all-you-can-eat, but they have taken it away. Hopefully they can pull it back.

We had an excellent meal tonight! The taste and quality of the food as well as the portions were outstanding.We had the cheese balls (must have), BBQ Ribs and a few different other cuts and a kids meal. Enormous amount (for usand so tasty. The “garnish” was a beautifully dressed portion of delicious green salad. Can’t wait to to return to try more on the menu.The service was exceptional even at a very busy start of service. They fit us in to a free table without a prior booking with a generous smile.Chef and front of house… thank you all for a memorable visit; we will be back!

For the price of the meals we expected a lot better quality, frozen store brought chips and a tiny plain salad does not match the price. Kids nuggets were way too cooked and the desserts were a joke. Service was poor as well.Wish we’d gone elsewhere in Thredbo- anywhere else.

Very good service and a great selection of foods and wine. Excellent food with no complaints from our table of nine. The waitresses are very professional and friendly.

Not a busy night. Forgot one meal from a table of 5. The advertised 380g rump steaks were half that at best. Then the staff sent out some other lumps of meat because my daughters looked a bit small. No mention of mine being the same. The forgotten meal came out and had to be sent back because the steak was cooked very rare not medium. The cuts of meat had been hacked off so were 2cm thick at one end and 5mm at the other, so impossible to cook evenly. All this for $50 a meal. Rubbish value for quality, and plain false advertising for quantity.

Excellent food (had the sirloin with croquette), wonderful wine selection — but the treat was the staff. We were greeted warmly and the gentleman who served us all night was wonderful, accommodating and treated us like old lost friends. Cannot recommend enough, well worth the price.

Dined @ Sante Thredbo 22 December 2020 and was not disappointed! I had the blue cod and prawns. Perfect sized dish for me and extremely tasty. My husband had the rump steak (medium rare cooked to perfection 👌). Huge drinks list, wines, cocktails, spirits. Dessert, well we had to have the churros.Attentive staff, great food, perfect ambience. Highly recommend Sante Thredbo

I had the duck main which was good enough, the sweet potato mash was the highlight. Everyone seemed content with the ribs. Unfortunately, no vegan options for main, but they managed to combine some sides. Recommend a vegan option or two is added.

Generally have the luxury of choosing your own meats off the skewers being walked around the venue however Covid has put that on ice at present. Still great food. You wont be disappointed.

Do yourself a favor and come here for dinner if you’re staying in Thredbo. Great service and the best ribs I’ve had in a long time and I would even dare to say the best I’ve had in Australia. Extremely generous serving size, Meat falling off the bone and an awesome BBQ sauce to compliment it.The sticky date pudding to top it all off was to die for!!I will be coming back here at every opportunity for dinner.

I was in Brazil a few weeks before I came here and this meal was better than I had in Sao Paulo. Everything was seasoned well and the food was amazing. They also have a proper hot chilli sauce to go with it, and the wine we had was very good as well. We ate here twice and it was awesome both times.

Good place to eat in Thredbo. Reasonably priced (compared to some of the other restaurants on the village). Staff are friendly, meats and seafood are plentiful (wait staff come to your table and cut pieces off for you), and the side dishes are a good size and delicious! Drinks menu is quite extensive offering some good local choices. Good for kids who arent picky eaters - unfortunately our little one isnt too keen on meat, so it wasnt a value meal for her. Otherwise it is a great restaurant. We went on a Wednesday night and it wasnt busy at all. No doubt it would be super busy on the weekends!

Service let our experience down. Food was great as always but getting drinks orders wrong and then blaming us for the mix up doesnt make for a pleasant evening. There has also been changes to their fabulous mojitos, we paid $16 for a thimble sized cocktail that was not mixed properly - barely drinkable until we put our forks in them to stir.

Fantastic Food, the manager- Matt was so kind and friendly and hospitable . He ensures top food and top brews to the table as soon as the busy staff can. Despite every seat being filled. Service was never but minutes away from every dish. The food was great tender meat and dessert was amazing. I would recommend this place to eat. We ate till we were almost in a food coma 🤣

A heaven for meat lover. But it has a wide range of sides/vege choices. Kids menu was available. Polenta chips were amazing. Looooooong wine list.

I have never been to a Brazilian restaurant but thanks to Sante churrasco I will look for them whereve I go! I have never had a steak so tender and the accompanying mushroom and potato was incredible. We also tried the vegetarian option which was fantastic. The biggest drink list Ive ever encountered and no shortage of great cocktails. Do yourself a favour and try this place whenever your in Thredbo you will not be disappointed.

Having a Child who is coeliac, eating out is a minefield filled with disappointment. Restaurants either refuse to accommodate, or waitresses roll their eyes, or they advertise gluten free, but when you question them it’s clear they actually have no idea what it means. So this place was a breath of fresh air! The food was great, so much, so yum, but they were also totally accommodating. We love this place thank you so much for an amazing meal.

Brought my family for dinner. The staff were friendly, but when it can to the food service it was few and far between. We kept on being past over 4 or 5 times for food service. When we did get food service is was just the last cuts of meet. If it was just us adults we could handle but having hungry kids to feed before they fall asleep from a day of skiing is not good enough. When we flagged the service with the manager, there was little concern but an off the shelf “sorry” given and a gesture to pay the bill. I won’t be returning.

Just went back and thought the good excellent and the service very good.If you like hearty meat meals this is the place for you.2016Good food and a nice spot to get a protein hit. An extra star for winter dining as they do an all you can eat which is to die for

Our most favourite restaurant ever!Staff are immaculate & cannot be more helpful.The whole experience is just so authentic and the food is just divine!Definitely go on a very hungry stomach as you will have trouble walking out after being so full of delicious food and drink!Ps: the mojitos are bang on and make the experience all the more special! ;)

Three starts is a generous review. Food quality was great, staff were also great and super friendly (excep the maitréd - she had an odd attitude).Problem was they they could not handle the crowd, there were lots of unreasonably long waits and we have to re-order food multiple times, it almost became a joke.Also, please consider rolling your bananas in cinnamon sugar. Would make them so much better. They were good though.
