I was there with my family on 8/2/21. My uncle went to use the restroom and a guy was in there sleeping. When we left the same guy was asleep on the bench outside the front door. RESPONSE TO OWNER: Yes, we got the information we came in for but I didnt feel very safe while we were there.

First time in the building as the Welcome Center. Was in it before when it was a store called Kenricks. Very nice now. Several historic things on the walls and some in display cases. Went there to take the civil service test. Note next time make sure that there are no other people in the next room only blocked off by a thin divider wall. There were some people in the other room doing some work of some kind for CAO and were a bit noisy. Not too good when you are trying to take a timed civil service test. Not a knock on the folks working but one on whomever did the scheduling.

Very awesome Welcome Center! Staff were kind and helpful.Came here first for info on the Murals before looking around and it was also interesting for the little showcases of history along the hallway of this place and seeing the history of Portsmouth in the photos and antiques before seeing them lifesized painted on the floodwalls, also many pamphlets and snacks to buy inside too.

Back in June. The lady at the welcome center was so very helpful in my search. Later she sent me a letter with a postcard I was looking for. She was so sweet.
