Wednesday Evening when we went everything was Very Good. ( Decided to go to Skaets after Visitation at Elliot Mortuary). Thursday we went to Skaets after attending Funeral at Memorial Park Cemetery of Hutchinson Ks.😎🙏✝️ . During both visits to Skaets the Service and Food was Very Good. ✅😎👍

We had a fantastic breakfast and very fresh coffee. Waitress was so wonderful keeping cups refilled and getting anything needed. We will be eating here often. We told all our friends and they went there after us and thanked us for letting them Know about this hidden gem!

Always friendly Employees and with patience to wait on them and the food is well worth your money and time and share laughter watch things break or hear them break and you get to watch cooks make your meal always busy but a very welcoming at home atmosphere

Waitresses are so nice,they always go the extra mile to make sure you are taken care of. Our favorite one is Bobby, she is always smiling!! Food is delicious and the prices are reasonable. We give an A+ to Skaets Restaurant.

Busy on Saturday morning but our group of 5 were able to sit down quickly for early lunch. Service was quick and chicken dried steak was really good.

Food Safety. If this is an issue dont sit and watch the cooks. No hair or beard covers. Didnt change gloves after touching meat before touching or other items. Then was touching food barehanded and not washing. That being said... the food was exceptional. Love the burgers and fries.

Love this place. Home style food, decent prices. You will need time though. It is not a fast paced place.

We love Skaets for the delicious breakfast (like french toast or biscuits and gravyand lunch, the Moon burger is terrific. Or the meatloaf. Or anything, really. The owners and staff are so nice and the customers are all in their happy spot, just like me!

Nice old style diner. Its usually crowded when we go. Very affordable food.

I would definitely recommend to go eat here and there pancakes are the BOMB!!

It is a Wednesday evening, no specials, and it is packed. There are the regulars and maybe some like me who is reliving a time when I would come here as a kid as part of going to the State Fair. The service is good, but what can you expect with a packed place. I sat at the counter and watched them do their magic. It is there to see. Whether you "Moon it" or just get a breakfast at any time they are open, Or treat yourself to a steak, you probably cant go wrongI would come back here any time to enjoy it.

Ive been around since 1947 and Skates has been around since 1949. I still enjoy going there anytime Im in Hutch.

The food is delicious and Im a regular there, but after this last time I dont know if Im going back. Ive found hair in my food multiple times, and this time when I finally brought the issue up to the staff. she kinda shrugged it off but told me Id be getting a discount. When I went to go pay for my 22 dollar meal they applied a 1 or 2 dollar discount. Great food but service could use some work.

The longest fries known to man, possibly a reminisce of nuclear fallout.. the food was ehh, Ive had better at the local soup kitchen.. however they were very kind to mail my lost cellphone that i left on the table, so for this I salute your long fries and tasteless omelet..

What a great place, my favorite restaurant in Kansas. Warm, friendly staff and great food and atmosphere. Our waitress was just awesome and so was everyone else. Coffee was hot and fresh, plenty of it. If I lived in Hutch, I would eat three meals a day here. We will be back, thank you!

It was fairly busy. But it was nighttime and we were served almost immediately. The food was great! And the prices were very reasonable for the amount of food that you received.

Breakfast was delicious. I ordered the all meat omelet and it came with hashbrowns that were cooked to perfection and my choice of bread, I chose an English muffin. The omelet was cheesy and so good. The service was amazing as well. They were fast and friendly and kept coffee and water filled throughout the meal even though they were very busy. I will be going again next time Im in town!!

The food was good, I love their fries and the jalapeno ketchup. The server did a nice job, her and another young boy seemed to be taking care of the place. They did a good job. The guy didnt even get mad when he was sweeping an area and just as it was almost clean a kid spilled skittles everywhere. He just smiled and got a cup for the rest of the candy then cleaned it up. I found this commendable because I know everyone there had to be exhausted. We visited the last day of the fair at almost nine. Everyone in Hutchinson was exhausted. Very GOOD place to dine or carry out. It has been in same location since the 1940s next to the Kansas State Fairgrounds. I worked as a night cook in the 80s during high school, not a lot has changed since then except for faces and prices. I recommend the "Moon Burger" and the Hamburger Steak dinner with crispy homemade fries. Mom.

This is the place for breakfast on hutch. What you want, plus a little. Gets packed fast. Good prices, great food. Chicken fried steak for breakfast is the way to go.

Not a bad little diner at all. My first time here and the good and service were both very good. They offer the full menu all day which is really nice and the staff was courteous and right on top of refills. The food came out in a proper made-from-scratch time and was hot and very tasty, exactly as ordered.

We ordered a moon burger medium rare and a cheeseburger medium rare. We had the young Asian server, and not only did our food arrive cold but also well done. We both told her our food was over cooked and cold but she did not respond. Another server got us fresh hot fries. But a older lady with short gray hair came over to bus our table of our half eaten food that we were finished with, she wanted to know if we wanted a box. When we said no and again complained and showed her our gray dry burgers she informed us that they were not over cooked even though that had zero pink much less red in them, she proceeded to argue with us about our cold over cooked food. This disgusting mess cost 25.00 including a tip to a waitress that couldn’t be bothered to check and see if our food was ready and let it sit there and get cold. If we had wanted cold over cooked burgers and fries we could have got that at McDonald’s for half the amount.Ultimately we live local and almost never eat here. Apparently last night we needed an expensive reminder of why we don’t eat there. Unless you want cold mediocre food at high prices avoid this place

I Absolutely Love LOVE to eat at Skaets in Hutchinson, Ks. When we attended the Awesome State Fair in Kansas, we always make sure that we Eat at Skaets. If we plan it right, when on the West side of the Fair Grounds, we will walk to the Northwest side of the Fair Grounds and walk to Skaets to eat. Its Usually Really Hot during the Fair so its nice to be able to go sit down at a Nice Clean Place Cool Down. The little Mom & Pops Restaurant is Awesome in Service, Excellent Old Fashion Food and you can cool down as well. Its so good that I would drive 2 hours just to go eat there.

I came here with my Grammy a lot when I was younger and she was still with us. The food is still as amazing as it was back then. Plus they have awesome waitresses on the bottom half. It does bite cause they are not open on Mondays, but still amazing.

Food is good as can be expected for a mom and pop cafe. The service is ok could be better tho. Called ahead to make reservations but they do. It accept reservations. When we got there from driving from Salina for Mother’s Day we had to stand for 15-20 minutes. No big deal unless you got someone that can’t stand for a long period of time, there is no waiting area as this is a small cafe

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!! Sunday mornings are my favorite, the staff knows you by name and always friendly. Im all about girl power so I think its awesome how the main cooks are 2 older ladies. Service is always great no matter how busy they are!!

Someone told us to try their chef salad because Skaets has the best salad in town. So we ordered to-go and they were very good. They are your basic iceberg lettuce with tomatoes, eggs, onions, cheese and meat. I would definitely recommend going here if you want a salad that isn’t overpriced or filled with different kinds of lettuce. We also ordered a chicken fried steak meal and a short stack of hot cakes. All very good!

Eat like a local! This iconic restaurant is great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Try their pancake recipe that is unchanged since the 1960s. If you are there during lunch or dinner then the Moon Burger should be on your list. Say hello to the proprietors, Karen or Donna, while you are there.

Very nice mom and pop restaurant. Good atmosphere. I to get all the way to the bottom before it was good, save some bread youll want to get the very last bit. MOON IT!

Best place in town for breakfast, by far! I try to eat here a time or two when Im in down for a visit. Customer service is great. Food is outstanding. Its small and not great for large groups.

GOOD home style cooked FOOD.*Chicken & Noodles on Tuesdays**Ham & Beans on Wednesdays*Kind and efficient wait staff. Clean And those fellows cooking in the evening can really push some food out. Sometimes its like dinner and a show. Woohoo.☺I would like to give them 5 stars but theyre a bit expensive so I gladly give this kitchen"4 1/2 STARS"
