Covid it not that bad any more and they have all the sit with sign on we cant sit it ridiculous we need sit outside on the floor they having empty sits then they take mad long long time to call people for everrrr
This place is wonderful! I got married so needed a name change, I sent all my paperwork in via mail and a couple days later my documents returned and then shortly after my new card came! Such an easy process. Thank you so much!
Family member. has been trying to get her ss card ,been going through hell for over 8 months ,still no card! Redo everything and still no card, calling them and talking to them is like talking to a brick wall!
This office is just like every other building full of lazy, overpaid government employees
I did online and drop my ID off with the Application and still didn’t get my social security card… it’s been 2 and a half months… and they are very disrespectful when talking on the phone
People with autism get denied
Servicio al cliente es horrible no son profesionales y no te saben explicar bien y no digitan tu solicitud no hacen bien su trabajo
Staff were very helpful in helping me get a complicated problem resolved. My case had been sent to an out of state office and they did nothing. The Reading office resolved it.
My mom has been trying to schedule an appointment for my brother to get his social security card replacement, he cant do it through the "my social security account" because he doesnt have a drivers license or photo ID so he needs to go in person. The lady on the phone who speaks Spanish keeps telling my mom to schedule an appointment online but nowhere on the SSA website does it have where you can schedule an appointment, it has to be by phone. SO frustrated with the Reading, PA office because of this lie and not wanting to give my mom an appointment.
Original documents need to be submitted in order to do a name change. OK, fine. Wife did that. Social security card comes in the mail and her name is misspelled. OK, mistakes do happen. She resubmits AGAIN. Today her social security card comes in the mail. Her name is mispelled AGAIN, the SAME way as before and her original documents are nowhere to be found. Two months of living life without an ID and these people just dont know how to do their job. These are documents that we need in order to be identified and you guys dont even respect that.
I always had a good exsprience years ago I had issue with a security guard and the head supervisor came out and address it perfessonaly .Every time I called the workers were helpful one lady go out her way to try to help me reset password for the Soical Security App . Im sure they have rude callers as well Speally now short staff all the calls coming In we got be mindful Cov 19 has have effects on us all still is one way are another I,m sure we all have been irritated I also like that the staff is down to earth I think they all do a great job honestly .
Great to visit with an appointment.
Trying to have a name change done due to marriage. This was such a circus and still is. Without going into too much detail, the customer service was poor with an attitude and that also applies to their call service. I hope I never have to work with these folks again.
Due to Covid, all original documents must be mailed to Social Security for marriage name changes. I received my new social security card in the mail, but my original documents were not returned with the receipt, as the letter told me they would. On Monday, I called the office a total of 5 times. I was transferred to an answering machine during one call, I was disconnected after 20 minutes of being on hold for 3 of the calls, and then I finally got to talk to someone who is still working from home due to Covid. She informed me that she had to text her office supervisor about the issue. She has yet to call me back. Im angry that my original documents are missing, that I cant get in touch with anyone about the issue, and that Im going to have to pay to replace them so I can continue with my name change. One of the workers told me I could send in my drivers license or passport as a form of ID. Im so glad that I opted to get a medical document signed by my doctor as my form of ID instead!!
The EMPLOYEES get paid way too much… Idc if they make 2$ an hour they don’t earn it. They answer with an attitude & tell you sorry can’t help EVERY TIME then hang up on you! Who trains these Bihhes? Cause they have no clue how to do their Jobs! I been calling about the same prob for OVER A YEAR & they can’t help so today I called the schuylkill co office and they solved my problem right away and were so polite and professional. Reading office is the prob!
None of the representatives know what’s going on. Every time you call you’ll get a complete different answer for the same issue. They won’t contact you if there is anything wrong with your paperwork. Very unorganized and unprofessional. I ask how long it would take for my card the response was “beats me that’s not my job”.
This’s one of the worst places !!!!I asked for a copy of my S.S card in January 04 2021 is been almost 5 months already without any luck I was keeping calling and they tell me the my card will arrive soon ...,. Today i just called and this lady told me that I need to submit all over again!!!!! What a horrible service..... !!!!!!!
Very unprofessional, lazy and liars.
Bad very bad customer services.
I called this office and my questions were answered efficiently by the most polite and helpful worker of any government office I have called in the last six months! Amazingly pleasant.
The worst service
We are in the middle of a pandemic and I understand mistakes happen. I need a copy of my son’s social security who is special needs by the way, I sent the first request two months later I’m being told the office made a mistake and never actually completed it even though I received a letter along with my paperwork return back to me. Everyone I talk to either transfer me to a voicemail or promise a call back that I never receive. Finally someone told me I would have to mail the form and my son’s information again which I would have to pay a second time. You can’t speak to a supervisor nor can someone confirm anything. All they can say is submit your paperwork and hope they don’t mess it up. During a pandemic you would think more pride to better serve people would be the approach instead of what I was told happen which was a “brain fart.” Please do better at this office.
Was flat out lied To by one of their staff. Because of the lie I was told I re applied to a job but cant be offered it because no SS card. If I wasnt lied to two weeks ago I could of just got a birth certificate and used that instead of a SS card. Was funny when I called back was told I had to either send medical records or my ID no photocopy of it. Dont know about other people getting a Dr appointment but for me it takes months. Dont know what fantasy world they live in where they think you can just walk in and walk out with them. The best part was being told nobody ever told me they would be sending one out. Guess I just imagine all of that and the hour long call to them last Monday. Its funny theirs a pandemic going on and what do they do to help? Make sure you cant get a job.
Horrible experience, unprofessional costumer service
ssa.gov says I can call Monday thru Friday until midnight. When I called, they told me the office was closed and there is no one to speak to. (9:00 PMThey should update their website.
I had a really great experience at this office. Went mid morning on a Monday for a new Social Security card. It helped that I had printed out my application and filled it out ahead of time. Also you want to have all your certified documents ready. The woman that helped me was polite and helpful.
Idk everyone hates them, so now I do.
Good part of visit lady who help me was very helpful and polite. Only down side on this day they only had so many windows open with employees helping people. And it took awhile before number was called to be helped.
Our wait to be seen was relatively short considering we didnt have an appointment. Check-in is was easy, there is a small computerized check-in stand right as you walk into the waiting area. The instructions to use it are easy to follow. The employee that helped us was able to answer all of our questions and explain the process that is needed for my mother to apply for her retirement benefits. We do have to make an appointmnet go back one more time to finish everything up but it was a relatively painless process. One star taken off the rating due to the parking situation. It would have been nice to have a sign telling you where to park. The small lot at the building is blocked off due to construction, so you have to park either along the street (meteredor in the parking garage that is used for the theater across the street (pay per hour).
Not sure why this office has so many bad reviews. I didn’t have an appointment and was still seen within ten minutes. The person I dealt with was super friendly and helpful.
You have to wait for 30 minutes every time you call to speak to a real agent. And they don’t solve your problem just hurry up to hang up. Really impatient.
Wait moved along faster than I thought. The rep who helped me was nice and friendly and knowledgeable.
Bien
I think the government should launch an investigation on this branch and clean house. Nobody there wants to do there job. At the end of the week they will gladly accept the tax payers money??? On 3/5/19 I called four times. they hung up on me twice. Two times said they would call back, never did. This has been going since 2/28/19. Just trying to get help filling for medicare part B. May as well talk to the cat, she could probably help me better!!!!!!!!!!! At least she wouldnt hang up on me.
No one wants to help you. I take pride in my work. Why dont they?
It is close at 12:00on Wednesday
If I could give a zero I would! Our local SSI Office is beyond horrible! I have had so many bad experiences each and darn near almost every time I have had to deal with them to date that even text space of twenty reviews would not cover all I had to say! 😬😠😡🤬
Should be a zero star! This place is rediculous. Very rude staff. We got there a little early around 7:45 lady at front desk told us we couldn’t go up until 8:30. We went to wait in the foyer because is 25 degrees out and she comes out and makes us go outside.
They terminated my sons benefits due to a phone conference for income verification that was terminated on their behalf I have spent the last three months written appeals called left messages for supervisors and workers and NOONE has called me back ...mailed anything or at knowledged any of my correspondence!? How can a state office operate like that ? as a business owner I find this disgraceful and a waste of taxpayers money! I am completely outraged and frustrated at this point in time my son has been without his benefits since the beginning of October and I see no end to this. I suppose I will have to just continue to file a whole new application for his Social Security benefits. Beyond ridiculous
The Reading Pa. social security office should be rated a 0 Star. I went to the office for a name change, they screwed my benefit payments up and sent them to a bank that I have never had an account. When I complained they made it seem like I did something wrong, which I haven’t. I mentioned that rent was due and I needed my benefits, they told me they would print me a check, after waiting 3 hours, I was told they can’t print me a check and I would have to go to the bank and discuss it with them. First off, I already did that and the bank referred me back to Social Security. So I’ve been playing the run-around game for a couple of days and still “Do Not” have my benefits. Secondly, I am appalled that Social Security would send a persons benefits out and not know exactly where they are!!! The Reading Pa office is horrible at handling business. I suggest if you live in Reading Pa, be safe and handle your business in Harrisburg Pa..
I have to wait 1 hr on the phone to talk to someone and wait that time for nothing because they dont pick up
There is a wait here, but they keep getting better at that over the years. At places like this you just got to learn patients.
Cant get to talk to real person. Automated keeps hanging up on you after going thru questions, representatives are busy good bye. Have to keep calling back. Waste of time.Husbands first deposit should have been on the 8th of this month, it went mia. Someone put an extra digit in our acct number. So now we have to eat the overdraft fees from the bank because it will take a week to get the money. It can only happen to us. Bah!
I had trouble finding the office as there was semi-chaos due to road construction, and no sign on or near the building. I finally saw "201", which was the street address. As soon as I came off the elevator, a bilingual guard ushered me to a display where I answered a few questions and received a numbered ticket. The waiting room was 3 quaters full, and I waited about 35 minutes until my number came up. A very pleasant woman took care of my issue and I was done in ten minutes. Overall, the experience was good. There was clearly a process in place and they were friendly and efficient. If there was some signage, I would hag e rated them 5 stars.
This place is terrible. The people that work here are lazy and dont want to do their job correctly. I constantly have to make calls to get them to handle my case correctly, and no matter how many times I call it never gets taken care of. The wait time is ridiculous. They need to train these people to do their job correctly theres no reason why something so simple takes so long to fix. Im filing a complaint and Im contacting congress about this office because something needs to be done.
Always very loud.... security guard seems to have more knowledge than the workers behind the windows there is not enough seating the bathroom is horrible.... the workers seemed to bothered by the clients they know nothing and rarely talk unless they are asked a question which usually they dont know nothing......
I just spoke to an agent he was rude, loud and not helpful because he wouldnt listen to any of the questions I had. Instead he carried on a conversation with himself I repeatedly had to tell him that his responses had nothing to do with the questions asked.
They are terribly slow and never call you back
Awful, awful, awful. Why must you wait hours for a name change on your social security card? ?
Dont know really..but it seems that it will be a place that i will have to frequent frequently
