Clean Library! Friendly Staff...
Its an excellent place with tons of books, videos, more. There is a play area for the kids, computers for kids and adults, and several areas to study.
Im super disappointed with this location. I have always assumed that the libraries are for the community but apparently its for businesses to push their products and services. I planned on staying at the libary all day and due to inflation I couldnt afford to take 4 people out to eat. I brought a sack lunch. Just as we were finishing eating in the unopened Cafe eating area. I was told, that you cant bring out side food. That you have to buy the food that the unopened Cafe will provide...at a cost that I cant afford. I than asked if I could eat in the lobby on the tables out there, but that isnt allowed either not becauseyou cant eat there but becasue the business. I was told you can eat outside as the winter months are upon us and it will be freezing, and she wants me to take my kids outside and eat becasue we didnt buy lunch. It felt like a slap in the face. So now once a week I have to decide if I have the extra money for gas or the extra money to take 4 people out to eat or simply starve until we get home in the late afternoon. Becasue the libary is more worried about making money and not serving the community.
I wasnt there. My mom lives across the street from the library.
This library is great! Very nice, open, and well taken care of. Everyone needs to take advantage of their local libraries and the southwest branch is a great one.
Beware! I’ve been a library patron for over 40 years. I have never had to pay for a library book being “damaged”. Since moving I have had to pay for 3 books in about a year. The first one was legit rain damaged, my son dropped it as he was putting it in the book drop and it landed in a puddle. I completely own that one. But, after that it seems like my account was flagged. The next book had a wrinkled page and some “water damage” at the top about an inch down. This didn’t impede the ability to read the book at all and I put it between some books on the shelf and it’s good as new. No more wrinkled page. When I asked for clarification why the other books I had checked out that had spine damage I was told that was considered “normal wear and tear”. We have been checking each book meticulously since then and when I show them the damage before I check out it seems very subjective to whomever is checking the books. This third time it was because the bottom edge of the cover was wrinkled. I honestly don’t know if it was from my child or not. But, we take extremely good care of books. We teach our children to treat others property carefully. I could understand if it had been ripped, written on, or other serious damage that prevented someone from being able to read the book. There is a lot of life in these books and hundreds of kids could still read them. Unfortunately, having to continue to deal with the possibility of being charged for books every time we checkout is just not worth it. They try to offer kids activities but if the primary purpose of reading books is not met, I can’t support a library like that. We will be trying another branch from now on.
The staff, for the most part, are welcoming and very helpful! I am disappointed that there are no study rooms, though. They have tables encompassed by glass walls that dont have a door or a ceiling. I was able to find some comfy chairs close by the magazines to study, so it wasnt that big of a deal, but I still wish there were some nice study rooms for patrons to utilize.
We love our visits here. We usually stop by once a week. Sometimes the staff is very polite and sometimes they are not. My boy love their selections and my daughter loves the toys.
I love the library! They have it all........ books, movies, audiobooks, toys, study rooms, computers and printers. Im there most weeks getting new media : Staff are patient and very helpful. They have special events such as childrens story time, ESL classes, movie nights, etc.Only wish they had board games available for rent.
We love coming to this library as often as we can. Discovery time for kids is wonderful and my 2yr old daughter and I look forward to seeing Mrs. Heidi each week. You can tell how much she cares about the children. The Weber County Library system is phenomenal of itself, but Im glad we live the closest to the SW branch. A very nice facility with a lot of natural light which Im a big fan. They always have some sort of programming happening for a wide range of interests and we love looking at the different art installations that change monthly. I only wish they had a space for people to eat food they bring themselves. It would make things easier for my husband when he studies here in the afternoons.
Such a fantastic library. The staff is amazing and the collection is really awesome. I found everything I needed easily. The building itself is amazing architecture too.
Love the new place and they have game night on Wednesday 4 to 5. My granddaughter and I have a great time
Awesome awesome awesome library! Nice and quiet and modern place to relax, read a book, do some work and sip good coffee. Awesome! Architects really did an amazing job. Big shoutout to the cafe worker working alone W evenings, you are awesome!
The kids area is amazing and my son loves to go and play with the different hands on items that are available. The building magnetic shapes and the large Lego toys are his favorite. And I dont need to worry about if they are clean because I have seen them cleaning the toys after they have been used.
I love this library. From the little café to the graphic novel section to the dozens of computers, there is simply a huge selection at this library. If you have little ones make sure to look at the movies and toys they have available to check out as well.
Its so awesome, you the staff is super helpful.way better than David county.
Huge, modern space; well lit with so many seating options. The architects did a wonderful job designing this library. The staff is super friendly.
The staff is attentive, has a positive attitude and helpful. I really like this branch.
The people who work there are very helpful and pleasant. I enjoy the experience.
Modern and sophisticated architecture. The main racks are well lit with skylights and a glass curtain overlooking a lawn. A great gallery showcases local artists and a cafe serves - somebody.Ample public computers, teen computer lounge, and at the end of the day a hassle free and intuitive self checkout.Negatives, signs for restrooms are hidden and the text/contrast is not ADA compliant, a disappointment but not a surprise in Utah. The library is situated on a beautifully landscaped lawn but is completely divorced from the adjacent parks, school and office campus. Landscaping and grading aggressively discourage pedestrian flow from the community, and the orientation of the entrances is towards large parking lots that empty into busy artery road. The one side of the building to hug the adjacent school is cut off with chain link fence and no pedestrian sidewalks. The giant lawn is hidden from the public way and barriers between it and recreation parks make it an attractive waste of lawn care.I cant believe Im reviewing a modern public building with such potential wrecked by poor site planning.
Great library with activities for the young, story time, cafe, computer access, and great selection of books, movies and reference.
There is a lot happening here at the library. Fitness classes, art displays, a great research section, and of course, books, CDs, audio books, and DVDs too. There was also a large book sale on the lawn today. There is a coffee shop in the building with a small selection of pastries and snacks.
A great library and very high tech. Tons of shelves and a kids section with tablets and computers. In between two adult sections there are many computers. There are tons of movies you can borrow too. The staff is all super helpful.
Lots of amenities, but beware when borrowing books. I’ve been a patron of libraries for nearly forty years and never paid for a book. Over the last three months, I have paid around $100 to replace “damaged” books that ranged from a nearly invisible smudge on a single page to a minor damage on a spine from when I dropped one. It got to the point where I had to examine every book, page by page, my kids and I wanted to check it in advance so as not to be charged for somebody else’s negligence. We decided it was no longer worth our time and have since begun using a different library.
Everyone here was so helpful helping me get my library card set up and finding the book I was looking for. There was also many selections of books to choose from.
Very nice library. Big selection of books and modern check-out system.
Free black and white printing. Lots of areas to study, read, or have quiet space. There is also a notary and free scanning.
One of the coolest libraries Ive had the pleasure to look through. Its higher tech than normal for a library and all of the staff was super helpful. They have a cafe, tons of room to work or read, its nice to be in there instead of how libraries can sometimes be a bit stuffy. And theyre handling covid pretty well
This is a fabulous library with a wonderful staff. Our young son decided that for Christmas he’d like to buy some Wings of Fire books for the library because he noticed they seemed to always be on hold. He loves that series and wants all kids to be able to read it. He just received the nicest thank you note from the library manager Phoebe Carter. She was so kind in her note and he immediately decided he wanted to hang it on his wall. Thank you Phoebe, you never know what’s going to make an impression on a young person and you certainly did. He won’t forget it. Books are his favorite thing and his favorite place is this library - so to receive a note from the manager was amazing❤️
Nice and clean library. Staff working there are always welcoming and friendly. They stop what they are doing to assist!! Keep up the good work!!!👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Several individuals tried to go to the library at 1:30pm Sunday September 6,2020, and they were closed for no apparent reason. Google and the library sign at the entrance stated it should be open 1-5pm, but it was not. Very disappointed that the library did not put up a notice on the building. Labor day is not until tomorrow, and the sign only says it is closed on the 7th, not the whole weekend. If the library is going to be closed Sundays or weekends near holidays, the library needs to update their signs on the building. If I cant trust the library to be open when they say they are, I wont risk using the library and late fee charges because of the library has random closings or doesnt update their actual open hours and dates.
The best library around. New building, fantastic staff, great technology, and a wonderful little snack shack as well. All-in-all its the best library experience around.
The Southwest branch is a great Library. They have a great selection of books for children and adults. It is always really clean and organized. It is perfect for a person with social anxiety because no one will bother you and you can check out your books on your own. It can be hard to speak with a staff member, so if you need to do something like pay fees, get a library card, or check out a book (because the self check out can be trickybe prepared to be there for a little while.
The staff is always friendly and helpful. They have a huge selection of books, DVDs, CDs, etc. This location is always exceptionally clean, as long as weve been coming here, not just during covid-19 times.
I loved Roy library great employees and staff member serving great books and movies too. Also computers that we can used for school look up informations.
The discovery program is pretty fun for my children and there are 2-3 people who work there that are really kind and caring. But I’ve found that almost everyone I’ve interacted with at the front desk is rude and short with me. Maybe it’s just me/my perspective but that’s been my experience.
Love this location! Yummy smells from the bake shop! Quiet with plenty of seating. Great library!
So my overall experience at this library has been pleasant, besides the fact that the 2 occasions Ive brought a soda drink from maverick Ive been confronted that no outside food/drinks allowed and was even told I was warned once by another librarian. Since than I have abide to their rules yet every time I come here which is at least 5-7 days a week I consistently see people bringing fast food in and eating as well as bringing their own food from home and also people bringing in soda beverages from maverick, MC Donald, etc and they are never approached or asked to participate in this apparent rule. Please explain to me why they would pick and choose who they want to enforce this rule against. Also as I type this, a women is eating subway within 10 feet of the same librarian whos name is Jason who told me that specific rule, that walks around like the library security intent on enforcing rules rather than a helpful hand willing to assist you.
Library is decent but many of the staff are not friendly nor welcoming. The main library has friendly and helpful staff. I was disappointed with the Roy branch.
Has a great variety of books and movies. Love all te family friendly older movies they have. It’s a great place to study—fast WiFi, snack bar, tables. I also love all their pamphlets with book recommendations for elementary grade levels and other genres, such as multicultural children’s books they recommend, all with the call number on them. So helpful for finding books for me and my kids!
The library is no longer the library that I once knew, it has more or less become an exclusive glorified computer club/internet cafe with a few books. The process in which requires signing up for and reactivating a library card is by far more frustrating than dealing with the DMV. I remember when your library card never expired, now it expires every 2-3 months, and its important that you live in Weber county otherwise they dont give a damn about your situation. I have never left a library empty-handed and enraged before today, so I will avoid this one at all costs.
This is a nice library, but when I went to sign up for a card, the girl at the desk told me I only needed an ID to get one. So I went out to my car and got my ID, came back in and she told me I also needed another proof of my legal name... should have told me that before I went out to my car with 3 kids and came back. I probably won’t come back. Would give zero stars if I could!
Great selection of books. Usually have what Im looking for. Great staff. The work the put in to build this library is outstanding. Thank you also for building it closer to my home since I dont drive. I usually go there everyday as home away from home to find peace and quiet.
We have now been to the remodeled north and main branches and even though they are closer, the southwest branch is still our favorite because it’s open and spacious. The kids section is open and spacious and the junior chapter books and books on cd are aligned in a square which make for easy viewing and selection. The other branches the shelves are far too blocked in and kids cannot reach the titles!
I have gone here occasionally it has a very nice location next to about 3schools with a good amount of space inside. plus it has a place to get food inside if you get hungry. after school it can be nice to go there and bring some money to get food relax and do homework.
Brand new clean building with plenty to do for the whole family in. My four-year-old loves running up and down all of the displays that have been put into interactively help kids get excited about reading. They have a why its range to select from and its in a brand new building. They also show art exhibits and movies at this location on certain nights. You can rent old films on DVD hear such as Casablanca and Citizen Kane. Its a good cheap family night to go have fun for everybody.
I love this place! We go weekly and never get tired of it. They have such a wide selection of books, audiobooks, movies and cds. If the item you are looking for isnt at their library they get it from other libraries, which means an almost unlimited amount of what anyone could ask for. Checking out and returning is convenient and easy. The staff has always been pleasant to visit with and knowledgeable when we have questions. The building, itself, is amazing and kept immaculate. I dont have one bad thing to speak of about this library!
I work here quite often. The windows are so nice. It feels like the entire back of the building is windows. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Easy to find what Im looking for. I highly recommend you support your local library.
We absolutely adore this library! So much to do, so many books. The kids area is top notch. I love the checkout and check in. Pretty much everything about it is awesome.
Great for kids and families. The library has a large kids section with a play area where it seems moms are always getting together for play dates. The selection is fabulous and the check in and out process easy and quick. The library often has amazing activities going on for people of all interests and ages. It has many study areas for those of a more academic and professional nature also. There is a decent cafe, probably the least amazing part but it is nice to be able to get some food. The bathrooms are always in excellent cleanliness. I only wish it opened earlier in the day
