Speed Auto Care in Monmouth County

We dropped off our U-haul rental at this place one day prior to our end of contract and we had a terrible experience here with the drop-off. Since it was a Sunday, there was no one at the place which was expected, we parked the car at their parking at took the U-haul keys with us as we were confused with the Key Drop off box. An hour later a guy from Speed Auto Care called us and spoke to us very rudely as to why did we take the keys with us. We explained to him that we didnt feel safe to leave in the car as nobody was in the place. He also told us in a very rude and discomforting way that we threw garbage around in the car which was also not true. We threw the garbage outside. After an hour we returned to give the keys and there was still nobody, we tried calling but it would go to voice mail. We decided to return the keys first thing next morning(as that was our return dateand we did that.Later we noticed a charge of $75 by U-haul and Speed auto care, most of which were invalid and illogical expenses like Speed Autocare had to clean the car completely as we left it very dirty, returned late, left a gatorade bottle in the holder box...and more. We had left a mobile holder in the car by mistake, which we also did not find when we went back to return the keys. There was no way of communication with this place as we kept calling and it would always go straight to voicemail. Apparently the representative had to make a new key made for the car which is absurd and i dont know why. He knew we were coming back to give the key, and we did but nobody was there.Super rude, wouldnt listen to what we had to say and extremely bad experience.

Called in to get a quote on changing all 4 brake pads. He got all of my personal info then after telling him the exact make, model, and year of my car he wouldn’t give a quote. Ke kept repeating it can be anywhere from $69 and up depending on the parts i need and saying “can i get you to come in tomorrow?” Even that didn’t make sense because i told him i would like the brakes and rotors changed on all sides. Other issues can be addressed after you look at it. After i said i would like the quote over the phone he hung up on me. Very suspicious be careful.

I took my car here foolishly twice. The first time they damaged my key fob and my air-conditioning. The second time they kept car two full days and did nothing. Horrible service and terrible management.

My car overheated so I had it towed to a repair shop who diagnosed the problem as a blown head gasket costing $2500. I then had it towed to Speed for a second opinion and after doing the diagnosis told me the thermostat had rusted shut causing the overheating. They fixed the problem along with other necessary repairs at a reasonable cost. They are professional, knowledgeable, honest, and I would not hesitate to use them for all my repairs on any of the 4 vehicles I own

Rented a U-Haul from this facility and was over charged by almost $50 (47.97 to be exact). When I called to have the over charge adjusted I was told that I would have to wait for "Kevin" to come in and change it. After not hearing back from Kevin for a day I called back and was told "there is no one by the name of Kevin who works here". I had to call U-haul at the corporate level to have this taken care of. While I cant speak to this facilities ability to do work to your car I can 100% say that they can not be trusted with U-Haul rentals. Go someplace else unless you want to risk being overcharged.

Having often avoided shops, especially any chains and depending on reliable private mechanics or friends, Speed is definitely the place to go for an honest, detailed analysis of whatever you need, and the best route to take cost wise. Carlos and his team will go out of their way to save you money and recommend the best options for whatever situation your vehicles in. Their also enthusiastic with bigger jobs, performance cars & challenging projects with the experience and knowledge to do it right. With having to return to fix the same problems or parts many times with other mechanics, ivfound myself coming here more often in the past few years more than anywhere else.

My wifes SUV was having some problems, and Speed took care of it in a very timely manner, which really helped us out. Prices were reasonable, and they were very helpful.

Like many others, I researched hundreds of reviews looking for honest and decent mechanics in the area. Carlos at Speed Auto Care has a reputation for being completely transparent and very fair with his prices! I used him for a brake project and fuel system issue - instead of throwing out a quick estimate with little information, he asked to look at the car free of charge & explained everything to me in the simplest of terms! He was able to do all my repairs the same day and breakdown the cost of parts and labors making sure to work within a reasonable budget! I’m happy to say I’ve found my go to mechanic & shop - I won’t waste my time getting estimates anywhere else - I trust Carlos & Speed Auto will always do the job right!

Carlos at Speed Auto is the best mechanic I’ve ever used. He’s very knowledgeable and only does the work that you need and never tries to up sell you.If you need an honest and forthright mechanic Carlos and his staff of mechanics are number one.Plus they also rent U-Haul vans and trucks.

They do excellent work. Carlos will explain the issues with your vehicle and help you decide the best course of action. An added benefit is that they also rent U-Haul truck and vans.

Since I have moved here they are the only ones I can honestly trust with my car .And that is very hard to say when it comes to my car , cause to me its my second child.I have recommended them to a few friends , and they all have come back thanking me .They are very honest , and fairly priced ! Once they do the job , you never have to go back with the same problem .They are not the kind of guys that make you feel your in some kind of danger if you dont get it done now ! They will give you an estimate of how long before it will cause any issues.Trust them ... they are good , honest men .
