St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church in Ocean County

Fr. Bob gives great homilies and the people welcomed me so I chose it as my new Church.

Very lovely parish. Unfortunately The priest is very negative and only talks about how the parish is basically going to close bc there’s no priests. Although it’s important info I don’t think it’s necessary to end a lovely homily from the deacon w a note about that and then follow up w MORE negative at the end of mass. People come to mass to receive and be refreshed not drained. Disappointing bc the parishioners are so lovely

Quite and peaceful.

One of the most beautiful churches Ive had the pleasure to practice my faith. Im out of town for a couple of weeks. I will be back Wednesday, Saturday,and Sunday.

Warm and welcoming Church. We have a great pastor,Father Bob, so easy to talk to and always ready to help you. The entire staff is a pleasure to work with.

My Niece and Nephew where Baptised here. The Bishop was so sweet and knowledgeable, he was welcoming and made us feel at home, even saying its OK for the Babies to cry as he doesnt feel disturbed or interfered by thier lovely sounds. It was a mixed Family of Italians and Nigerians at the beautiful House of God and I loved every bit of it ❤️

This is our church and we are a family.

My parents attended and supported St Luke’s Church for many years. My father just recently passed away and the mass was arranged to be held at the church. Father Bob was assigned as our priest for the ceremony.We had a minor request to let my sister eulogize my dad. It was a two to three minute speech and was already prepared. Both the person we spoke to on the phone and Father Bob himself in person outright refused. When we spoke to Fr Bob at the wake personally to request that he allow it, he not only refused but was extremely rude to my family in front of my grieving mother. He attitude was uncalled for. Rather than offer succor for a parishioner’s time of grief, Fr Bob chose to come across as uncaring and ornery.It was truly a disappointment in a sensitive time of need.

St. Lukes is my church - has been my parents church and I believe the greatest church around. Father Bob is a special priest and man. His vision of how we should spend our days sharing our love where it is needed for the good of everyone, especially in the current times is heartwarming.(not to mention, his love of animals, which I share, makes him Great!)The church is blessed with a staff, especially Kathy, the administrator and wonder woman, is the reason for the beautiful services that you will see when you attend this fine church.

Worst experience I have had today at my grandmothers funeral. My children have not been to church since the start of the pandemic, so they were unsure if they should take there masks off to take the eucharist, as they have 2 people in there lives who are immunosuppressed and have been taught to be very careful. My 11 year son is also autistic, so this was additionally confusing for him. Immediately following the service, as we were congregating with family for the procession, the priest noticed 2 of my children were still holding the Eucharist. Instead of gently reminding the what should be done, he proceeded to loudly confront & humiliate them in front of there entire extended family. Telling them that they didn’t belong sitting in church followed by demanding they hand back and physically snatching the eucharist directly out of there hands. If this wasn’t enough he proceeded to make a public announcement to everyone at the service, pointing out my children while shouting if anyone else had not taken it yet, they needed to hand them over. I understand how the eucharist should be taken, but I would hope the a man of faith would have chosen the path of understanding, especially during these confusing times. Speaking quietly to them instead of shouting, purposefully calling them out to everyone in attendance at there great grandmothers funeral. This is the first funeral they have ever attended, add on top of that the confusion with masks and the pandemic, have a heart. I believe a church should be a place of embracing and forgiveness, obviously this is not one. This priest chose to add ridicule and shame to one of the hardest days my young children have yet to face, and very well may have turned them away from the path of faith because of it.

First time since March. It was nice to go back and see everyone obeying the rules. I was surprised & glad to see a lot of the older people. Was nice to see familiar faces

This church is absolutely gorgeous. Everyone is so caring and welcoming.

Great church. It is a large modern church. It was my first time here. Everyone was friendly and appeared happy to be there. It has two big screens on the side of the alter with all the prayers, hymns, gospel and prompts for the mass. The pews suround the alter in a semi circle so it is easy to see the alter. The pews are comfortably padded as are the kneelers. The priest gave a meaningful homily which was easy to hear and understand. I was very impressed. I was very happy to be there. I will definitely be going back.

Music too loud, sermon too long.

The 10am choir mass is truly incredible every Sunday (ok, I might be biased since Im the flutist!The beautiful music (with music on the TV screensreally adds that special feeling to the gorgeous building, great leaders and kind members. My husband and I got married here in 2017 and love coming back every week to recharge our batteries with Father Bob, Deacon Bob and words of encouragement in these trying times. I love St. Lukes!
