Temple Canyon Trailhead in Fremont County
Typical canyon trailhead loves me to have closure I needed for me and my David its for us my dearest departed Husband Rey David Meza-Robles who passed on March 26 2021 gone almost a year God bless him and may he rest in peace
MoreVery nice trail. Places to camp. Pavilions with benches and bbq pits. I think the trails need better markings and directions.
MoreThis is Colorado’s high mountain desert at its best crazy switch bags deep canyons multiple different rock formations going right through the middle of Temple Canyon is grape Creek a wonderful creek to fission stop and have a picnic next to camp for the weekend by when the water is high enough you can ride it all the way to the Arkansas river there also is an old Indian story why it’s called Temple Canyon there was two Indian tribes that came together to marry his son and a daughter of both chiefs they ended up fighting and to stop the fight the daughter went to the top of the temple and sacrificed herself by walking to the top of the temple and she jumped sacrificing her self so everyone else would stop killing each other some people think that this was a very sacred place I believe it still is no if you come here on the weekends there’s a good chance you can catch a group of kids partying on the top of the canyon if you come here during the week there’s a good chance you might be the only one fishing but no matter what temple canyon will always be a special place to many of us locals but we always ask please pick up after yourself your mom doesn’t follow behind you in the woods so neither should we please keep our beautiful state clean maybe pick up a piece of trash on your way out but somebody else might’ve forgot if everybody does their part places like this will stay beautiful forever
MoreTook a walk down redemption trail to check out the hidden slot canyon definitely cool half mile walk from the trail head on this three point something mile trail
MoreReally cool desert scenery. I wouldnt hike it in the summer, it gets way too hot.
MoreDidnt get very far down the trail as I wandered up and down the dry creek bed. It was fascinating and I came across the rock tower (as seen in the photosat one of the creek forks. If anyone can add insight into what that is, that would be much appreciated.
MoreRedemption trail goes down into the canyon across and back up. Room for 10 to 15 cars
MoreThis was a wonderfully clean, awesome hike. Be ready. Going in is a hard hike down, then you go through a stream, then coming back is the opposite. A hard hike up. Bring water, good shoes, and time to rest if needed. But seeing the temple is so worth it. One of the most beautiful hikes and the Temple will take your breath away! Can’t wait to go again.
MoreVery nice trails close to town pay attention though you can miss the trail on the way out
MoreGood place to get away but make sure you dont go where your vehicle isnt meant to go
MoreJust a spot in the road to pull off and put your vehicle while you ride
Love the views. And the trails are great.
