Texas Lunch in Pike County

Picked up an order of hamburgers today. The owner graciously said they were on him as we were there in the past and the place was closed due to an employee emergency that we were not aware of. My mother-in-law was with us and had not had Texas Lunch in 20 years and was dying to get lunch there that day. Today she enjoyed her burger as well as I enjoyed my cheeseburger. They were delicious as where the fries Thank you Texas Lunch for making my 90-year-old mother-in-law happy. Fantastic place for lunch. Be sure to stop there !

There is not one bad thing to say about Texas Lunch! Even this picture doesn’t do it justice. The food is absolutely delicious in its own Texas Lunch, unmistakable way. Fresh ingredients, unbelievable flavors and all at a price you can’t find elsewhere. We ordered the TL burger with all of the fixings, chicken tenders, the Texas Dog, onion rings and fries. Everything came out hot and delicious. The fries, onion rings and tenders were crisped to perfection and the burgers and dog was the best we’ve had in a long time. The restaurant itself was immaculate and the servers are some of the friendliest people. We enjoyed it thoroughly and can’t wait to go back.

Great local hotdog joint. Bottled beer, or a yoohoo, makes washing down those delicious dogs even more enjoyable. Only drawback is, as a local one noticed the food (mainly their signature sauceisnt at all what it used to be.

The hot dog was DELICIOUS as were the fries and onion rings !!! Our waitress was the sweetest and had such a big beautiful smile 😊

I was coming through town today and stopped in just a few minutes prior to closing as I was feeling nostalgic. I was greeted with great energy, even though it was closing time. I told the worker that I used to always get Texas Lunch when I was a kid visiting my grandmother in town. She threw in an extra everything dog for me on the house and it was great. The sauce is different than I remember, not bad, just different, taste was great. She also threw in a Yoohoo as well, it really made My day because as a kid my Grandmother always made sure I had a yoohoo, and I didn’t remember that until she offered it to me. Hometown places like this that really make somewhere feel like home. Thanks for making my day. Hope to stop through real soon again.

Nice people nice place unfortunately food wasnt good the sauce they use on there hotdogs is unedible and gross I had to throw them out 🤮

Food and service is good.. super expensive for hot dogs and French fries...way expensive!

The hot dogs are.great the problem is the service. They say open to 5pm on a Saturday but are closed before 4pm. Also they stop answering the phones hour and a half before they close so less work they have to do. Shame, they havea good product.

I remember eating here when I was a kid. The special sauce is sooo good on the fries! I wish it was vegetarian but unfortunately it contains beef. I hope in the future this restaurant can have vegetarian sauce options, maybe a burger patty!

Always come here whenever Im back in town, never disappoints. Old timey feels. Decent prices. Just wish they had the onion sauce :)

One word: YUM! First time customers get a free dog with everything, how awesome is that!? Their Texas wiener sauce is to die for and they have the most delicious crispy fries. Give it a try, great food and great price! (Staff was so welcoming too!)

Out of curiosity I stopped in to try the place. Great staff, friendly, efficient. The food AWESOME!!. The texas sause is delicious. Great hot dog, burger, & the fries with cheese & sauce...to die for. Since it was my first time the hot dog was on the house. Best dinning experience Ive had in a long time. Highly recommend by me. Loved it!!!

Just happened to be passing though town and wanted a quick snack. Stopped in and was not disappointed. The everything hot dog and cheeseburger were delicious. The burger was a little crispy around the edges which make to so good. You cant beat the prices, burger for less $5?! The service was also great. The waitress and owner were both increasably nice. Would definitely stop in again next time were in the area.

Sloppy, overpriced, and generic food, nothing like Texas Lunch used to be. Its a cheap restaurant in a vintage suit.3.95% extra for paying with anything other than cash on already overpriced food was insulting especially with a 3 dollar fee dial up ATM on site.I grew up eating here, I try to still come in once a year to give it a shot. The secret sauce is water down and bland in comparison to when the original owners where here. The patties are average sized, the buns are cheap, and the cheese is American, this burger costs north of $6.50 then add almost a dollar for sauce.I wish I could love this place but it seems every year there are more decisions made towards increasing profit instead of quality.

Your food is great I always get hot dogs and cheese fries. Your cheese fries are the bomb! My only complaint is I wish you were open later as I work until 5.

I was raised with eating here. I got 24 hot dogs with there sause with everything. And Im living in fl and on vacaction.

The waitress was very friendly and patient. The hot dog sauce is crazy good! Definitely a great place to go for a quick tasty lunch. And they offer birch beer! Cant wait to go back.

It was my first time dining in the restaurant. My son n daughterinlaw comes here every Saturday. The place was very clean. The tables seating was seperated.. cossey. Dining. The staff very friendly .food very good .the hotdogs. .ohh boy were so good. N also the french fries. My granddaughter loved the children nuggets. I will be going back n suggest everyone give them a try n support out local restaurants.

Stopped here the other day, ate my dogs in the car. Chili dogs with cheese werent bad at all. Im only giving 4 stars because they forgot to put napkins in my bag lol.Other than that, Ill be stopping by again.

Took the little one there to carry in the family tradition. She loved it. Awe the burgers and the onion rings were great was her response.

The sauce was a little different thats because the waitresses added stuff to it.so the sauce will probably be different every time you go. the reason I know this because the waitresses were talking about it. Spent $20 on a hamburger,hot dog,t fries and two drinks a little expensive in my book. The food felt kind of cheap to me. Why cant the cook use fresh ingredients like potatoes and make his own hamburger patties. To the owner, So your waitress ripped me off. They also added something to the sauce I heard them say it. I am not a liar. Your hamburgers or not freshly made they are frozen. Your quality is all nothing but Frozen items. Real Cooks cook from fresh ingredients.

I adore this place! They offer high class meals, they have a rich menu, The cook in that restaurant is a real authority in the kitchen, I enjoy a lot trying all their dishes. The food is always of high qualtity, the service towards the customers is very good too. I go often to this restaurant and I not even once was unsatisfied. Highly recommended.

Really good Texas wieners. The hot dogs may not be disbarred but they taste really good.the restaurant is clean and the staff are nice and friendly people.

Stopped here on a whim for lunch with 2 kids under 4yrs old. Looks are deceiving. My wife was skeptical. We gave it a shot and were not disappointed. The place looks dated, Ill give you that but the food was great, the price was fair and the staff was friendly and quick with service. Menu is a bit limited but Id still go back.

Love this place, been coming here since a little boy. Authentic sauce is mild but tasty, definitely get the hot dogs "all the way" style. These are great reheated for lunch as well. Keep everything the same owner and staff of Texas Lunch, we appreciate your product.

Havent been there for 40 years since Jimmy had it. Lots of memories of the old days. Still a decent dog but didnt taste like my memory of it. Worth the stop though.

Cliche hole in the wall, so you know the food and service are good.I had the hotdog and hamburger with the works. The hamburger is on the smaller size so make sure you order two. The works is a wet style sorta of like a chilli, really good definitely worth a try.

Texas Lunch is a Port Jervis institution! Nothing fancy, just good food served fast(ish). After a day of hiking locally, nothing satisfies like a couple of chili cheese dogs loaded, french fries & rings. Highly recommended!

Nice owners and staff, I’ll be back at least once a week! Food is delicious, not the healthiest choices but we all need a good juicy burger a few times a month... or more! This stuff is addicting!

Good hot dogs havent gotten anything else here and they have yoohoo my favorite cant get pricey but totally worth it. One of my favorite spots

Delicious as always , pricey as always and service great as always. Hot dog sauce was a little bland from last time I was there . The burgers and dogs were delightful as they always have been . Red onion sauce was on point and delicious. It is absolutely wonderful that they have started taking credit cards since last time I visited . Would definitely recommend going here and at least giving it a try.

Weve been coming here for over 10 years now & the food is still amazing everytime! Its become a family tradition! Plus a great place to go with your love when playing hooky from work! lol!

Chili Dogs are delicious especially when you order with loaded fries. Friendly staff and a beautiful server.

I remember the hotdogs from long ago. Now with the new owners the sauce which is famous is different. Its thicker and doesnt taste the same something is different and not in the good way. Prices are outrageous !

I honestly cant remember if this is close to the original sauce or not, send to me it is, but what it is missing is history. It has been purchased by some millennials I believe who are trying to preserve a piece of history but are making it too generic. I remember Jimmy lining dogs up his arm in the steamy window on pike street! This crew needs to start making this their history, be authentic and the crowd will come. Send to me they already have a great product, but packaging needs some work. I will still go there for my fix though. The burgers and dogs are good and the staff is very friendly, almost too friendly. Great lunch spot

Incredibly good hot dogs, super fast and friendly service, great pricing and plenty of room inside if you choose to eat in. Dont cheat yourself by merely passing here. Be sure to stop in! 👍

Although the hot dog size has decreased and the meat sauce is noticeably more watery than it used to be, this place is still pretty decent. Since I was a kid, Ive been coming here to get "2 with everything" and a Yoohoo. Translation: 2 hotdogs with meat sauce, onions, and mustard on them. This place sells hot dogs, burgers, fries, things like that. Nothing fancy, but they do what they do pretty well. If you come to Port Jervis, this is a local favorite spot to eat. Not as great as it used to be, but still pretty good.
