Pretty good steaks, cooked as ordered, Id definitely eat there again!
Food was excellent, service could not have been better. Super choice- chicken fries were fork tender, green beans were seasoned just perfect. We’ll be back !
Great food and friendly staff!
Perfect steak, amazing fried mushrooms, and fast & friendly service. I drove 73 miles one way just to eat here with high recommendations and cant wait to make the journey again. Well worth it!
Staff was friendly and the service was nice. The food was not great. Neither of us got the steaks we ordered and my husband ordered a rare steak but it came out well done. They corrected his steak for doneness but he wound up with an entirely different cut from what he ordered.
Great food and service. KC Strip was tasty!!
Cook cant tell one steak from another I ordered a ribeye medium rare came out well done wife order a strip and got a ribeye my second steak was a kc strip. Should of never made top 10 for steak houses in ks. I think Applebees makes a better steak. But the waitresses we really nice
Fantastic service. Great steak.
Great Steak and TatoesNuff said
Nice atmosphere with friendly and helpful staff. Food was excellent.
Service was great. Food was fantastic
Food was good, our waitress was very nice and made sure we had drinks. We received appetizers not long after we ordered. However it took extremely long to receive our food. My kiddo was getting very upset because she was hungry. The waitress was nice enough to get her food brought out little earlier. Once food had come out, one of our friends food was missing her melted cheese. They explained they ran out of the canned cheese and didnt want to open another that late in the night.. we had voiced our issue to the waitress and she was able to get her cheese sauce. It was good food and great waitress.. just disappointed in dinner food service time and the comment about the cheese.
Place use to be amazing but alot has changed and the quality of food and the time it takes u to receive it are terrible
Food was alright but not like before. Service is great.
My dad and I choose a place each week to ride our Harleys and try a new restaurant. The Lumberyard Steakhouse is a cozy restaurant and bar. Our two waitresses were outstanding. One was dressed as a pumpkin. The food was great and the desserts were very tasty. A friendly atmosphere. I recommend this place highly.
What a pleasure to eat at a decent restaurant that is fairly local to Harper. We are "foodies" and after coming in from Colorado, and having culinary delights for our dining pleasure almost all of the time,, we have been sorely disappointed with the dining options in Harper, Anthony area. That is, until finding The Lumber Yard!!! What a treat to eat at a small business. Enjoyed our dinner immensely. It made our Friday night😀
Awesome small town steakhouse! They were swamped when we got there so we were glad for our reservation. The steaks and mozzarella sticks were well worth the wait! Definitely hit the jackpot on this one!
Great food, great service! Always a good time at the Lumberyard!
Best place in the area. Call ahead a few days for a reservation. Great food.
Pretty sure this was the best steak Ive had in my life. The people here are amazing. Also had the oysters and gizzards and they were delicious. STUFFED. 🇺🇸
Had hamburger and onions rings...it lack some flavor, but hopefully the dinner menu is better than the lunch menu
Unique, western feel. Great food! They are very busy on the weekends, so reservations are recommended.
Steak was tough and overcooked. Our waitress was wonderful! Potatoes were cold and butter wouldnt melt on them. The rolls and mushrooms were excellent!
A steakhouse in a lumberyard? I grew up in Hutch and have never heard of them. After the ribeye I had tonight it is a good thing. I would probably weigh 400 lbs. This is the best meal I have had in a long time!
Found the Lumberyard by accident about 3 years ago. Have been coming back ever since. Excellent food, very friendly staff, unique location and atmosphere at affordable prices.
Really enjoyed the lunch today. My lunch fave is the shrimp basket with sweet potato fries. Entire table was pleased with lunch. Mac & cheese bites were fantastic
On weekends, The Lumberyard ha guest from Oklahoma, Missouri and as far away as Kansas City. Thats because the food is great and the service is exceptional at this very unique restaurant.
Arrived and the place was pretty well packed. Apparently you should make reservations beforehand.. Oops.Staff was more than polite and we were still able to be promptly seated. Food was well worth the wait. Raspberry cheesecake topped the meal off nicely. Will definitely be returning.
We drove an hour one way just to eat here... And it was worth every mile. Best steak Ive had in a long time!
Had been on a all day bike ride. Got here later like 9:30ish.Service was good and staff very friendly. Food was made fresh to order.
We enjoyed it a lot, but we were only there for lunch, which has a more limited menu (only reason why I couldnt give 5 stars). The prime rib meat was very tender on my hamburger. Nothing disappointed 😁 Ill have to go back for dinner to get a better cut of meat.
If youre out in this part of Kansas, you have to stop at the Lumber Yard for lunch! The service was great and the food was even better. The burger of the day was insane, with prime rib on top, and the roast beef sandwich was piled high, tender and mouth watering.I will definitely be going back to the Lumber Yard on the next family visit!
One of the Greatest secrets in Kansas!Food like Steaks.. Ribs.. Mt Oysters are delicious!! Have had about everything on their menu, never disappointed!! Service is always super!!
Excellent food in a very friendly welcoming atmosphere!!
I had heard from a few different people that this was an amazing steak house. The steak was in fact very good. The sides, however, tasted as though they were out of a can. This place is a bit pricey, and Im willing to spend good money on good food, but the sides were nowhere near on par with the price you pay. We drove about 45 minutes to try this restaurant, and I think what stood out to us the most was that we were not made to feel welcome by the hostess. We were asked if we had a reservation, and, as there is no indication online that reservations are required, I told them we did not. They actually considered turning us away, but ultimately did seat us right by the front door, after a few minutes of the staff whispering to each other while we stood around awkwardly. I would have been fine with that had there not been about 50% of the seats unoccupied. Over the course of our 45 minutes at our table, at a peak hour, at least 25% of the tables were still unoccupied, and others, presumably locals, came in after us without reservations and were seating immediately. Maybe they were having an off-day, but we will not go back.
Had the baked beans and ribs very odd tasting rub. I would not have it again 67 dollars for dinner for four. All I ate was the baked potato. The restaurant is very clean though. My sister had the chicken fried chicken was good but to much breading. My husband and grandson had what I did and didnt like it neither. There was no offer of anything else to eat or change of the bill. It was like oh well we have your money thanks.
Its been a few months since weve been to the sea food buffet. What has happened to the quality of it all ? We waited an hour and never got one single crab leg. Almost everything was empty and had been for some time. This was at 7:30 pm . Others there before us were disappointed too. We left without eating. Such a shame to see it going down hill like this. Its nothing like it used to be. There will be no return visits for us. Is it new management thats ruined the once great buffet we were used to?
Quaint, comfortable atmosphere. Wait staff was very nice and accommodating, until it got busy, then felt like we were an afterthought to the larger dining parties, although they were still nice. Food was pretty good, but only had 4 bites of my t-bone as it was too gristly to eat, which was a disappointment, considering the price. Would probably go back, but would probably get a hamburger to be safe.
Wonderful diamond in the rough. Around an hours drive through scenic Kansas southwest of Wichita. The food is worth the drive and employees are very friendly and welcoming. My first visit and I will be back.
Excellent Angus steaks. Worth the drive from Wichita or wherever.
A lumberyard made into a restaurant? Sounds crazy, but thats what theyve done! The prices are pretty reasonable and the food is good. Its not a quiet, romantic place, but a good place to meet friends.
We had a great meal and the servo e was excellent! I had the chicken fried steak and my husband ordered the T-none. Then, we shared! Yummy!
Went for the seafood buffet the day before Fathers Day. I had made a reservation, and they got us seated immediately. The staff was very courteous and gave excellent service. Their clam chowder was a very nice surprise, as it was made by hand instead of out of a can. I didnt care for either the mussels or the clams, but everything else was fantastic. I just wish they were quicker to refill the crab legs, as they were wiped out pretty fast. The area where we were seated was back by the kitchen and it was fairy warm BUT it was a stiflingly hot day. Not many flies in there, too , and the dessert I had was fantastic. All in all, we were very pleased and will be back.
Great service, delicious food, casual atmosphere, and not too crowded. Definitely a great lunch spot. The building itself has a lot of history, so take a minute to ask the friendly staff for the story behind The Lumberyard.
I love the Lumber Yard Steakhouse located in Zenda, KS. It is a lot of fun to take a small road trip from Wichita to Zenda to take in some ribs and steak at the Lumber Yard. Small - very small, small town service with a friendly country smile. Take another couple with you and drive through the windmill farm after a nice dinner. Check it out and have a nice time in the heartland of America.
After hearing rave reviews about the steaks, my husband and I drove a little over an hour to have dinner, anticipating a good meal. What a disappointment! Truly, the staff is very friendly and welcoming. I wish I could be as positive about the rest of our experience. The mixed drinks we ordered had little, if any alcohol - flavored milk for a white russian and a black russian watered down with Pepsi. The rolls, while fresh, were obviously out of a package. I ordered prime rib, cooked medium, but it arrived well done - in fact, overdone for prime rib. My baked potato had a bad place down the middle, and the steamed vegetables were obviously out of a frozen package. My husbands t-bone was mostly fat and of questionable taste. We were polite, but when our waitress asked about boxes to go and dessert, we declined. Our wallet is $60 lighter. Needless to say, we will not be back, though we did enjoy the drive.
After hearing several rave reviews, I decided to try this place. Service was excellent, salad bar was as well. The two people with me ordered steaks and they were perfectly prepared. Mine was extremely over cooked and after letting the waitress know she offered to have it replaced, but as I was with a group I decided to to just eat it and not make everyone wait on me since she said they would adjust the price. Getting the ticket, not only did not adjust the price, they charged me for drinks that I never received. Bringing this to their attention, they took the drink off and took a massive $2.00 dollars off the ticket. A renowned steak house should stand behind their product. They obviously dont. I will not return, and not only will I never recommend them, I will recommend against going.
Very friendly wait staff and clientele. What can I say, its in a small town and definitely has that small town feel. The food was great, but not the best steak Ive had. I will be back to try the Mountain Oysters and the Prime Rib.With your entree youre entitled to one trip to the salad bar. In my opinion the salad bar could use a bit more variety in its choices of vegetables and lettuce.
I loved this place. The food is amazing and i will definatly drive the hour and half to go back. Loved it! I jad the prime rib on sat night. The homemade garlic mashed potatos to die for. Loved the home made potato salad and coleslaw on the salad bar. Also the beets. I will be back as soon as i can. Our server was great too. I musr say make sure u make reservations. Or you wont get a seat on sat night.
DnRC....Very good food! I had the full rack of ribs, very tasty, but they dont use sauce. Moderate salad bar but very fresh. Very busy when we were there. Polite service. Overall very good. Would go back anytime.
