Unfortunately The Rookery is no longer in business (closed permanently 12/31/2020)
Great mature course...I moved in next door only for them to announce they would not reopen in 2021... very disappointing!!!
Great place to play. Workers make you feel good when you get there. Great course, it is kept up.
Beautiful course, I hope this place stays open.
18 holes a cart and then lunch for 45 bucks you cant beat it
Thoroughly enjoyed the course. Hoping it stays as a golf course with the next owners!
5 Starr. Great greens and fairways. Challenging but not overwhelming.
Its normally a challenging but awesome course. Went to play on Monday and for $60 a round its definitely not worth it right now. The tee boxes were very unmanaged and were rough to say the least. Most of the greens were dead, especially 17 (looks like they are trying to fix this one at leastand if you were on the fringe, good luck. You almost have to play the bump and run everytime because theres no way youll be able to read how your ball is going to roll through the patches of grass and sand. I will give them the benefit of the doubt on the bunkers, they were very hard and most were filled with water but thats probably from the rain over the weekend. It honestly reminded me of Frog Hollow around this time last year after their sprinkler system fried. But at least they recognized the condition and lowered the prices. Until they work on the course and get it back up to par (pun intended), Id much rather play a course actually worth $60 or Johnathans Landing twice. Im not trying to trash talk the course and say Im never playing here again, just that its not worth full price right now, but Ill definitely be back when its in better condition.
Great greens and great staff to get you started. I enjoyed playing here and will definitely go again.
Layout was great, but greens/fringes in terrible shape. Felt like a bait and switch from the south course when they group them together on the website.
Went to wedding reception, food was great
Delaware Lions Foundation held its annual breakfast here and was very good
I visited their banquet room on a business luncheon. The Rookery has a nice meeting room, and the grounds were well groomed. The staff were polite and helpful. The food was disappointing. The menu was fine, but there wasnt a single item that was exceptional. I expected better quality from a country club that is in an area with little banquet / meeting room competition.
Good Place to play a round of golf.
Class reunion, reasonably priced for large group. Chicken (bakedand fresh string beans very good. Friendly, accommodating, helpful.
Only played the front 9 but nice layover, course and grass were very dry. Great tee boxes but greens need some work but pins all in playable positions so the opportunity areas do not effect you. 4 stars based on course conditions and value. $35 for 18 holes.
My friends and I had a great time here! Staff is courteous and helpful, and we will definitely be coming back! Very clean and beautiful grounds and facilities!!
Course in great shape. No wait. 3 and a half hour round.
I loved the layout but the fairways need some work
This golf course is a hidden gem. It is short but challenging; with shade in the summer and a nice breeze when available. In my opinion this is the better of the two Rookery courses.
Attended a very nice banquet. Great crab dip and and good buffet. Attentive wait staff
Greens are still healing from aeration and sand application, but course is generally in good shape.
Golf Course is in good shape for this time of year.
Fun, local crowd. Good music and the food was pretty good!
I was very surprised with the quality of golf here. Much nicer than orihinal rookery and everyone from clu house people to cart girl seemed nicer and happier.
Its a good place to play golf at so go play
Dinner food in a country club setting, with country club prices. Web site says they have fish tacos with sauteed mahi mahi, menu says fish tacos with cod. Sorry we are out of fish today
Loved it. Its a keeper greens are perfect
Great public course. Plays well
Held my daughters wedding here. Tina and her staff were incredible. From the planning and then setting up, she was right on the money. The venue itself is beautiful. I would highly recommend it!
Course in reasonable shape particularly considering the recent rains. The greens were excellent.
Wonderful place! We had my sisters bridal shower there & we couldnt have been happier with the food & the service!!!!!
Some fairways are a bit sparse, greens in pretty good shape. Food good.
We had a family reception there, buffet lunch in a room with large windows overlooking the golf course. Staff supervised the event closely; food was ample and tasty and beverage service was quick and accurate. A very enjoyable afternoon.
Great course well maintained
Great course, great club house.
Excellent service food was good decorated beautifully for Christmas all in all a pleasant experience.
nice country club with a good banquet room to suit any size group
Nice course in great shape. Like the new expression: "Straight is the new long" - so keep it between the trees that line the fairway. I will play there again, if in the area.
Friendly staff, nice bunkers, decent greens but that is the best part the rest of the course was in very bad condition fairways are all weeds even if u hit fairways you still have a bad lie at 60 dollars i will never play again I would say not worth 20 dollars when there are much better options out there the south course is much better
Beautiful old course. Tree lined fairways and guarded bunkers challenge all skill levels of golfer.
Very nice course and really great staff
The played this course for the first time this weekend and I was really excited to do so. It was an okay experience, half dissapointing but not wholly bad. More water along the course route wouldve been really nice, as would a bathroom in the middle of the course. Was priced like a championship course, and the staff seemed to be championship level; they were very kind and friendly, but the grounds themselves had swaths of really beat up, brown, or dead grass around greens. Played the course from white tee boxes and they also were just mediocre in turf quality.I am torn about playing it again as it seemed to be a really nicely designed, moderately challenging course, that just wasnt in championship shape.
The Good: the greens were in great shape (see note below), the course was not crowded, the fairways & rough were fairly well maintained. The Bad: $60 on a Friday morning was a bit high, the tee boxes were very chewed up, numerous bare spots in the fairways, and they top sanded the greens that morning (my only guess because they were expecting 2" of rain that night...they had not punched or aerated the greens, just top sanded). From my local friend who took me, the course has come a long way since the "Rookery Group" took over, but in my opinion, they still have a little ways to go.
Terrible. Absolutely the rudest staff Ive ever encountered at a course. They harassed the group I was playing with almost non-stop while we played. Ive never had a less enjoyable golf experience.
Course is in good condition for this time of year. Narrow fairways forces good tee shots. A good challenge to any level player. Would not hesitate to return there. Staff is very friendly in golf shop and at the bar.
Beautiful and challenging golf course. The rates are very good and all of the employees are extremely friendly. Would highly recommend!
Fun course but there are better nearby. Go out early.
I went to a wedding at the Rookery and it was such a beautiful place.
A well-seasoned, tree-lined and challenging course. Loveingly brought back from early retirement by new managers.
