Unfriendly INCONSIDERATE DISRESPECTFUL
It didnt have as much merchandise as previous.
ABSOLUTELY EXTREMELY RUDE LATINA WORKERS THERE, ESPECIALLY MANAGERS 😤 I WAS OVERCHARGED FOR PRODUCTS & WHEN I TRIED TO GET THE GM TO RESOLVE SHE REFUSED !!! I SPEND TOO MUCH THERE FOR DISRESPECT !!!
So stupid!!! On the website said that store close at 7:00 pm, but they close 15 min before that time. Even if you want to grab one thing that you know, do not try the close on or looking for something, so basically you will spend 5 minutes for all, but they do not let you do this. If you close at 6:45, do change on website, do not confuse people who count on something. I saw people who also been confused, not just me. So disappointed. I driven special to this store because I knew that I still will have 15 minutes before closing
I used to come to the Salvation Army on Grand Ave all the time. That stopped today. I came into the store and waited at the showcase while the worker helped three other ladies check out their items. When they were done checking out, two of the women came back to the showcase and stood right next to me and wanted to see something else and they were helped again by the same woman. I said excuse me to her and she walked away to the other side of the showcase and helped someone else! When she was done with that person another man walked up to make purchases I said excuse me to her again and she then went to help him. Finally she had no choice but to stop ignoring me but of course I was already heated. When she came to me I asked her why did she repeatedly ignore me. Of course, no answer. I told her that she was rude and reminded her that I was standing right next to the other woman she helped and still walked away. Instead of talking to me with courtesy she kept saying okay you wanna see something. Basically trying to get me to shut up. I told her that she needed her job and to act like it. I told her I needed an apology.I asked to speak to the manager and she was useless she said I overtalked her and I did cause I was already mad. I never cursed, although the urge was strong. She never took the time to see where her staff member went wrong. I told her that a sincere apology was all I needes. She only defended her instead of addressing my concerns. So now Im waiting on a phone call from a head office director. All of this could have been avoided had either the cashier or the manager had come to me in an apologetic manager. Training on customer service but I thought Salvation Army does this? I will update when I speak to the person from Corporate.
Sometimes not many items, but still great deals :)
I mean, simply, they have a drop-off service there it easy as 123
A lot of nice stuff. The pics in the google are neat pics. Of the store in reality the only Neat and clean is the front of the store. I saw 2 kids chasing a rat. One of the workers. Chased the kids away then chased the rat away. Be careful when shopping here. Rats
Short staff. Prices are really high.
I just dont get whats so hard to price an item when you find it that doesnt have a tag on it its really a stupid policy that you have to come back the next day what poor customer service I saw a really nice shirt with no tag needless to say I couldnt get it
Went in today . found some childrens learning books for my grandbabies .
Found some nice things but was overcharged for an item.
I was amazed to find exactly what I looking for at the store. I also was able to find somethings that I was looking for a long time ago.
Very high prices stuff is donated not fair.
Almost everything is marked at 10$ anything slightly good looking clothing wise is marked up, went looking for clothing to resell and didn’t find much at all.
I havent been to this place in a while I used to love it all my free time I spent there the prices right now are outrageously High I will never go back and I will tell all my friends about it its ridiculously high for same stuff you can get at Burlington or even Ross brand new stuff for cheaper
Didnt find exactly what I was looking for but, I didnt walk away empty handed.A large spacious store with plenty of items for sale.I ended up with two neck ties, this trip.Ill be back.
Store has nice selection for clothes and some hit or miss household products or funiture but, staff doesnt care too much for working there it shows in there poor attitude.
Looks like they are closing. Only one employee on front of store to take care of jewelry counter. Bathroom keys, and cash register.
You never know what you will find in the Salvation Army I found beautiful clothing beautiful shoes beautiful dresses beautiful portraits and pictures I found clothes with tickets still on them from the store. Candles and beautiful wonderfully made vases to put flowers in and also plastic flowers that will put together beautifully. When I visit Salvation Army I become excited because its not any surprise to me to find something beautiful I found a beautiful coat also beautiful I had it cleaned and I found out on the internet that it was worth $100 and and it only cost me $7.99.
A classic thrift experience. Plenty of floor space for lots of great finds! Very well kept for a thrift store. Highly recommended! Will definitely go back.
Love this place! I found some brand new Calvin Klein boots, brand new, 30$ price tag!! A steal!!! 😆 Lol no...thats wasnt a steal actually...the real steal was 14.97..HALF OFF FROM THE TAG!!!
Its amazing if something doesnt have a price they will add one and everything is just amazing they probably have what you are looking for 😊
Advertising as being open until eight, I got here at 5:30 and looked around for a while before I found a shelf that I like, I went back to the front to get a cart at 5:50 and the lady yelled at me saying that they are closed, I told her I’ve been here a while shopping, I was just getting the cart to grab something- she said loudly to me “well you ain’t gonna get it.”So I left my cart right there in the store walked out. I hope you had fun fetching it chick. Bless your heart.
The workers were nice to me and it was my first time donating today. 😊It feels good to give back 💜
Covid update: they no longer do thrift by the pound or Buy the pound. Not sure when it will start back up again. Had to go all the way there to find this out since it is impossible to call them. Hope this helps any one else.
I was disappointed at the selection. Maybe Ive been spoiled by other thrift stores, but the shelves seemed really empty compared to other stores. And the prices of dishes were at least 3-4 times more expensive than other thrift stores. I didnt buy anything and I will never be back.
This is a great store and its easy to find the things you need. A very special thanks to Mayte for her wonderful customer service!
Great selection with reasonable prices. However, the Caucasian manager there is extremely rude. She would tell customers not to sit on the couches because theyre for sale. How are people supposed to buy something without trying/inspecting it. Unfortunately, I did not catch her name. When I was checking out, she REFUSED to give me my receipt in my hand and instead she said, "HERE" and slammed it on the counter. I never did anything or said anything to upset her. She needs to be relocated to a different store.
Nice place to shop 🙂the customer service is good and on Friday it 75percent off it depends on the color of the tickets 😃
Very nice and clean, friendly staff and close to my home. Not over priced.
I really loved it, really cool things that are unique for a low price!! Its amazing because you can turn something that was worn for so many years into something that you will were for so many years. Really cool things!!
the majority of the things on the shelves and hangers are junk and priced as though its gold. I found a leather jacket hanging on the rack that was completely worn out. patches of leather missing and cracking all over it yet it was priced at $150. Shoes that look like someone had worn then everyday for the past 60 yrs, $40. Couches that were completely filthy and worn out for $900. my gf bought a small watering pot for her flowers that she just had to have because she loved the shape. unfortunately after paying the $7 for this obviously well used watering pot we found a hole in it. There were new things from stores in original boxes that still had the original store price tags on them that were half of the price salvation army was charging. Ridiculous.
Great selection, but expensive and staff are very firm. Frequent "managers specials" discount certain departments for 30 minutes at a time.
Their managers are unprofessional. I like the fact that its clean, but you need to have a class (people skillswith your management. Management needs to repremend their employees in their office not in front of the customers. Were not on this earth to belittle individuals, or embrace them. Your managers need an attitude adjustment!!!!
The best Salvation Army in Chicago. Prices are realistic and they are very helpful. The woman who runs the furniture floor looked in the back for a bed frame for me and was so sweet!
Great selection, and very well organized. Awesome deals on Wednesday and Saturday.
The security guard walks up to me and point blankly told me "I look suspicious" his reason being I walked around in the store without a cart and hands in my jacket pockets!!....I think they should train their employee to interact better, especially that knuckle head security!!...I UNDERSTAND BEING A BLACK MAN POSES ITS CHALLENGES BUT THE AUDACITY OF HIM FOLLOWING ME ON THE AISLE WAS JUST A LITTLE OVERBOARD....will head there and talk to management in the morning AND BETTER HEAR AN APOLOGY OR SOMETHING!
Most salvation armys in the city are quite pricey. This one is a hit or miss. You can get good deals on Friday or saturday. They make announcements where you can get certain items half price for a short period of time. Its just to move certain items to free up space. Sometimes its an hour or 2. Not really sure if its daily. Ive only gone late on saturdays when Ive heard the announcements. They do have some good furniture everytime Ive went. I was there last saturday and the furniture was half price. Its usually clean and well stocked but the area where the toys are is always mess. The parents just let the kids go to town. Not the stores fault but the parents.
I use to enjoy going here until they started to price items ridiculously high i.e dollar store items priced for double the price if you were to buy it new. Also they stopped doing the 69 cent furniture.
A good, big Salvation Army store, with a range of wares. Like all the Sally Ann stores, the prices are uneven, the cheap mixed in with the overpriced. Depending on when you go, youll find interesting furniture and decor, and the occasional staggering bargain.
It was very organized and cool clean very great deals on every item new and used affordable sales.
Store was organized, horrible service.Cashier named Theodora had a disgusting attitude. Never coming back again!
Great selection of clothing and very clean place friendly staff and respectful educated guard too
Had a selection for Autumn style. I spent a little too much but Im fairly happy with what I bought. Im going to have some alterations done to a couple pairs of pants! The store was super neat. My only complaint is the mixed in sizes.
Free parking and it is their newest store has just about everything.
It good place if you need furniture, trendy clothes, and knick knacks. The prices are to high for most of their things. You come out better going to Cook Brother or Walmart in the neighborhood.
There is a fireplace for sale for $130 dollars. This is the retail price!I would like to know why are you as long a fireplace at the retail price among other items I have noticed? This is a community that needs your help, not to be exploited by your high end prices. Are you diginified enough to help people or take advantage of them?
Better lighting than their old location.Prices have gone up a little too much... frustrates me to have to go farther for a better deal.3⭐
They always have such a good collection of furniture except recently the prices have been climbing. Went there today and almost every couch and table is over $100. You could go down the street to the cook brothers and get a brand-new sofa for cheaper than that.
