Glad I visited this place. It was awesome especially on a Sunday morning when there was hardly anyone. I went to the following places: Statue of Hachiko and his master, Yasuda auditorium, Sanshiro Pond, Daiwa ubiquitous computing research building and Akamon.
MoreBeautiful.
Very Historic University in Tokyo, the Ginko tree is very Iconic
Of course the top rated university in Japan. The campus of Hongo is well integrate us with the town.
MoreGreat environment with a taste of elegance and history.

If anyone has any plan to work or study in Tokyo University, please don’t hesitate to start. It is the worlds top fifty institutions of higher education and it is the largest domestic recipient of joint research funding in Japan. I visited here in 2012.
MoreTokyo University is the smartest genius University in Japan.
A nice University near of Ueno Zoo.
I love that university because its my daughters dream university .One day she will come to this amazing place .
MoreThe beauty of the ginkgo trees at the University of Tokyo. During the autumn period like this, the ginkgo trees within the University of Tokyo will turn golden yellow, very beautiful. There are many ginkgo trees lined up in front of the Yosuda Auditorium, like a tunnel of ginkgo trees, and around the University of Tokyo there are many ginkgo trees to see. The yellow of the ginkgo trees contrasts with the western style architecture of the university building. Gives us a very impressive picture. 🍁🍂This impressive building standing at the heart of the Hongo Campus was constructed in 1925 thanks to a donation from Zenjiro Yasuda, who was concerned about the absence of a building of sufficient grandeur to receive the Japanese emperor when visiting the university. The architect, Yoshikazu Uchida, was well known for his bold designs. For Yasuda Hall, he drew particular inspiration from the towered gates of Cambridge University.
MoreThis place just gives me a lot of HOPE! I loved the butter and fried chicken, we played a lot of Tetris and piano lessons! We also made some healthy soup! There were some weird robot stuffed animals but that was cool, i had many fun classmates, though some died and there were traitors and masterminds, but either way it was super fun there! 10-10, would go again.
MoreA beautiful place in the middle of Tokyo. Easy access by train. You can find a lot of restaurants and stores inside the University. Depends on the season, you may come across a stunning trees. A must visit place!
MoreHope to see the gingko trees in autumn
Although Ive never studied at this place, this place was worth a visit. I visited the university of Tokyo as part of the jenesys international exchange program. Ive never such a diverse and huge University in my entire life. Its one of the top 5 universities in Asia and one of the top universities in the world. Theres a suicide point thats really famous inside the university. Just like almost the entirety of Japan this place is a must visit in Autumn.
MoreLiving in the neighborhood, I frequently stroll through the grounds to admire the architecture.
MoreI am absolutely in love with the campus especially the ginkgo path along the main entrance. Highly recommended place to enjoy autumn leaves in Tokyo. The best time to go there is from early to mid December.
MoreBeautiful campus, especially during autumn when the fall foliage is in full swing!
MoreI’m from Queen Mary University of London Estates and Facilities department. Would like to thank all who helped to organise meeting between our two universities including Ken Noguchi- general manager from Facilities Department.
MoreReally recommend the ginkgo avenue at the entrance of the university. Near the shop (cooptheres this hidden pond, and i think its really good to go there as well. Its kind of Tokyos hidden gem tho! Really loves the architecture of the building as well. They have halal meal on their cafetaria.
MoreUniversity of Tokyo (東京大学 Tōkyōdaigaku), abbreviated as Todai (東大 Tōdai)or UTokyo, is a public research universitylocated in Bunkyo, Tokyo, Japan. Established in 1877 as the first imperial university, it is one of Japans most prestigious universities. The university has 10 faculties and enrolls about 30,000 students, 2,100 of whom are international students. Its five campuses are in Hongō, Komaba, Kashiwa, Shirokane and Nakano. It is among the top echelon of the select Japanese universities assigned additional funding under the MEXTs Top Global University Project to enhance Japans global educational competitiveness.
MoreThe bestest school in Japan, ranked 20-something worldwide. Probably one of the best in the world if you exclude places like the Ivy League and Oxbridge. Unlike Kyoto University, Tokyo U is built on a slope and has a lot of ‘forest’ in its boundaries. Perhaps because of that, you can see more tourists and citizens just chilling in the campus.
MoreUniversity itself is the most prestigious in Japan. Some of the buildings are interesting to see.
MoreThe old style building with red bricks are very beautiful. There are also many trees and a pond in the middle of this Hongo Campus. Great 👍
MoreJapans best public university with a long history. Just starring at the beautiful architecture and wandering around this prestigious campus is already worth the visit. Tip: You can even eat at the student cafeteria even if you are not a student.
MoreBoth in name and reality Tokyo university would be probably the top uni in Japan.I strongly recommend this university to everyone cause it’s so close from the Ueno park and Kyu Iwasaki-tei garden. It would be a great walking tour course. It doesn’t matter where you start from. The Ueno park , Kyu Iwasaki-tei garden and then Tokyo university ~According to the Wikipedia Tokyo uni has been one of the first Asian university that tends to be a feature of modern times.Needless to say many students from all over Japan would be burning the midnight oil to get in this uni at right this moment. If you look at the grand clock tower building which is called the Yasda auditorium, you would be more impressed by the graceful and imposing appearance of it.Under the clock tower building there’s a cafeteria. It’s open to everyone.Even though you are not a student of this school you’re more than welcome to have a lunch or a cup of coffee.Low-priced and excellent food!!That’s why this cafeteria is popular to the public.I would definitely visit here again when the tall ginkgo trees in the campus turn yellow. This uni would be so beautiful in autumn.
MoreAlmost every anime and tv series I watched have mention Tokyo University, so now I’m very curious about this university and what it entails and it’s makes me want to visit Japan 🇯🇵 very badly. I would love to live there and share my experiences to the world 🗺
MoreFor tourist: beautiful campus with lots of Ginkgo and Maple trees, amazing to visit in the fall.
MoreNice campus with a lot of green spots!
Tokyo university, the best school in Asia. When I stepped into the school gate, I felt full of the academic atmosphere around and it leads me to explore this small world, which is composed lots of great thoughts, ancient building and Japanese culture.I found there is a lots of gingko. I take a picture to the biggest one, which might be the oldest one in this school. In autumn, this place will be decorated to a golden world with gingko. It is worth to visit.
MoreUofTokyo or Todai as it is popularly known in Japan is one of the best science and technology university in Japan! Home to a number of Nobel laureates the research in the university is industry focused and lets you have hands-on experience with cutting edge technology. The campus is beautiful, unique and photogenic. Pathway to the Yasuda Auditorium is the best especially during Autumn. Gogatsusai or the May Fest is the annual cultural festival at the university. Its lively and a lot of dance and musical events occur during the Fest. 10 mins walk from Hongo-sanchome and Todaimae station. So when are you coming to Todai?
MoreTokyo University, a good place for walk
Probably the best university in Asia. The university also ranks high in Global best performing university index. An well administered university with versatile faculties and schools. Best laboratory and research facilities with professional linkages. The campus is huge and beautifull. The university provides the leading research works in Asia.
MoreOne of Tokyos best school..
The first class university in the world! As a student of UTokyo, I have no reason to rate here as 4-star. Unlike the top universities in China, UTokyo is neither crowded nor noisy at all. Of course, I visited here on weekends. So, visitors can feel peaceful to enjoy the splendid scenery and old-fashioned buildings here. You may see students taking part in different activities like archery. If you are hungry, you can enjoy the food in dinning hall, even you are not associated with UTokyo. The tree in the 1st picture is cosplaying the broccoli!
MoreAs a tourist in Tokyo this University I think could be seen not only as University but also a historical landmark with many unique shape buildings.
MoreVery peaceful campus environments for visitors to enjoy walking. In addition to simple but well pruned trees, the campus is full of history for the early British and other European faculties influence, including various building, while some buildings and Main Gate do try to preserve Japanese culture style.Campus stores, including cafeteria and other stores, such as Starbucks, do welcome visitors. On campus, visitors can see students riding bikes from one department or research building to the other during the short break. In front of medical school building and hospital, visitors may see a few faculty-professors who drive sport cars to attend the class session, and driving sport cars is not common in Japanese society. .In Japan, college campus is seldom promoted as a tour attraction, even though most of the colleges and universities, including Tokyo University, Kyoto University, or Tohoku University, do NOT restrict tourist visit. Even for Japanese government tourist bureau, Japanese National Tourism Organization [JNTO] seldom includes college campus as part of tour attractions on its publications for Practical Travel Guides for Tokyo or Kyoto, although, sometimes, tourists can visit specific college campus, incidentally, in short walking distance. For example, visitors to Ueno Park, Tokyo, can actually walk to University of Tokyo within 30 minutes.
MorePeaceful n beautiful place to stay...
Lots of high school students visiting. Great pond inside the campus. Also, had a good lunch in the students canteen.
MoreHaven’t taken classes there but the campus is beautiful.
I still remember the reaction of the immigration officer when I said I am going to study at "Todai" (Tokyo university in Japanese). He said "Honthooo?!" with his eyes in wide open. Since then Todai became a precious jewel for me.I was fortunate to pursue my masters in Civil Engineering, with an expose to cutting edge technology, education and people.Everyone at "Todai" thank you very much!
MoreWent to see the University of Tokyo a while ago, drew a sketch.I like the buildings, made of red bricks! With a touch of antiquity and moss. Some of them remain in Yokohama too. There are some of them in my hometown of Nizhniy Novgorod, and I was always attracted to see these buildings.赤レンガが大好きです。だから、東京大学へ見に行きました。ステキな建物ですね。
MoreTodai (tokyo daigakuis one of the best and most prestigious university in Japan. It is also good for tourists to see. Theyre is an amazingly beautiful Lake inside the campus.
MoreDid research here for 6 months. Breathtaking campus, relatively diverse crowd. Great experience overall.
MoreUniversity of Tokyo, Known as "Todai" in Japanese, is the first National University and probably the best university in Japan. There are some historical buildings and lots of green in the huge property. Visitors can enjoy walking.
MoreI havent any own experience of the Tokyo University but I listened it is one of the best University in the world so I want to join my further study in this University very soon . Because I am much more excited to familiar in this University by nearly.
MoreCampus with beautiful scenery composed by its symbolic gingko trees and grand-ish architecture. In Autumn all the trees turn yellow and the roads will transform into yellow carpets.Apart from the scenery and architecture, there is a lot of history in this school worth finding out about too.
MoreOne of the best universities in the World. I spent 3 months there spending my research stay. The atmosphere encourages you to work. If you ever have a chance to study/work there take it!!
