MoreI wish another company opened up & offered a service similar to them. Because U-Haul had dropped their bar so low your couldnt pass a paper under it. Its disgusting. They are always joking with one another and ignore every single customer who walks in. They are never efficient. They always screw up the reservation and can never find a truck. No one actually wants to work there and there is absolutely no oversight so they can do as they please & good luck if you open your mouth.OH how I wish someone would come in with a little capital. Rent trucks for the day. They would destroy U-haul in a week.
More1U-Haul app didnt work, so we had to go inside. They couldnt get computers to work, so it took 30 minutes to get reservation started.2App didnt work, so over and over when I tried to upload pictures of the many scratches and dents, it failed. We were an hour late getting started at this point.3Starting an hour late, we were late getting back. The office said, "Oh, we cant extend, a family needs this truck to move." Apparently 9PM on a sub-freezing Saturday night in January is prime moving time in Brooklyn. Uhaul said that if we were late, they would charge us another $97 because "its another day."4When we got back, the whole lot was FILLED with trucks, no one was waiting, and again, the app didnt work. After trying for 20 minutes (did I mention it was dark and well below freezing?I gave up and we went home.5On that morning, one employee inside didnt wear her mask. I asked her to put it on. "Oh, I just was eating something." But then she still didnt put it back on. I was very anxious and upset about this, so I went outside. My spouse stayed to get reservation garbage done. Six days later, we were both down sick with COVID. Weve been isolating religiously for almost 2 years, it was not because of anyone or anything else. We caught COVID here.6I called Monday morning about the "return fee" and additional $97 charge. "Oh, yeah, this happens." Thing is, the app has NEVER worked in the three years Ive weve tried to use it, so they know. They just figure if you dont call and complain, they can keep the money.7U-Haul never got back to me about how distressed we were about the poor pandemic protocols of the Bensonhurst office, and they never acknowledged that they infected us. Since we NEVER go inside with people, especially if we see anyone unmasked, it is the only possible point of exposure. The reason we had to do it with U-Haul on this particular day is that we are moving. Unless I wind up in the hospital.

MoreThere was a mix-up with my drop-off location under my reservation, by the agent who made my reservation. When I arrived, the employee immediately rejected my drop-off and offered no assistance to rectify this. I may added they were dismissive and obstinate. After an hour on the phone with Corp, Dispatch, it was finally amended. Better customer service at least understanding.

MoreI want to warn those clients who are going to ask for help from the staff of this Uhaul office. The staff are not professional. You check their information several times so as not to lose money. I turned to them to change the location of pick up of truck. they advised to close the truck reservation, and open a New truck reservation. Having closed the first order, they could not provide me with the truck at the date and time I needed. They didn’t apologize and couldn’t help me further to fix this problem. I had to do everything myself. Incompetent staff. I do not advise you to contact them. Do everything online.
MoreEXCELLENT. IT solved my problem of getting my heavy rear differential for my pickup back to BROOKLYN. The rent a car companies out in BUFFALO would not rent me a pickup for the part . CAUSE I didnt have a CREDIT CARD. U HAUL WAS A LIFE SAVER.THANK YOU FOR BEING THERE FOR ME.

MoreLocation near me (Park Slopesaid they have no trailers. Drove here (30 min awayafter reserving a trailer for 4pm. After waiting an hour they finally got to me only to tell me they dont have any trailers. They told me to go to Park Slope. They refused to call the place and confirm. Drove 30 min back to Park Slope and surprise: after waiting another 45 minutes ... no trailer! Does U-Haul internationally do this?

MoreAlthough we had a long wait and U-Haul headquarters cancelled our reservation after changing our pickup location across town, Dahlia (I hope I am spelling her name right), a representative helped us out immensely. If it werent for her, we would have not gotten a van out of Brooklyn to our destination. I am so very thankful for her and her support. Customer service on point. Headquarters needs to fix their computers and stop cancelling peoples reservations.

More1st We returned the truck with the same gas level we had received it, I advised that on during the verification process and got pictures. Got charged $36 for gas (which is way more than half tank)2nd customer service of the person that received my truck was terrible. He bossed me out about folding the 12th covers we got, not even taking the time to explain to me what was needed. Which I did not mind folding them, was the rude way I was approached with. I have tried to contact you costumer service phone lines for the overcharges on gas with no response.
MoreConvenient location and they always seem to have vehicles in stock. Not a huge fan of the return process as the clerk who checked in the truck wasnt friendly and had a mild bad attitude...i nearly forgot something inside because he was rushing me and didnt double-check thoroughly inside the vehicle. The agent inside who printed my receipt was polite however, so the other one might have been an outlier. Ill probably use them again in the future if i have no other options.
MoreAll the U-Haul employees with whom I interacted yesterday when I picked up and returned a rental pickup truck were just great. The two people at the reservation counter were more than courteous, they were friendly. Also, I had never driven a pickup truck before so another employee showed me how to personalize the drivers seat and the mirrors. When I returned the truck yet another employee inspecting it found and returned to me a GPS device I had left behind in the cab. The truck itself was clean as could be.
MoreI hadnt rented a truck/van for years so found the new way confusing - & a lot like work I wasnt getting paid for!But the guys at drop off were great! Very courteous & helpful! I had to have the gas station attendant hello me find where the tank was after neither I nor 3 other customers could, tho. Maybe that should be pointed out at the time of rental.

Ask for everyones name including their staff in the parking lot and take billion pictures before and after (like we didand you will STILL have to contact corporate to get your money back.We rented a small pickup for a short trip. Mostly highway (Belt, Cross Island, Northern State). Got to uHaul at 8:30am, finally got the truck just before 9am. Before we left the lot we took pictures of the whole truck. We received a text message from uHaul asking us to approve/dispute pictures of the same truck from their system. The last picture in their text showed massive damage to the bumper. Our truck had no damage. We pressed "dispute". When we spoke to the employee about it they said "Oh dont worry, that is an outdated picture. The truck came back yesterday from the garage and is fixed".9:30 - 12:00pm was on the road. Returned truck at 12:30pm. Took more pictures. Spoke about the fixed bumper again, paid our rental fee and on our way home. An hour later I receive a new email with a NEW charge, a $150 for damage! A "large dent". No location specified. The "accident" report stated that the accident occurred at 10:45am (while we were on the road? And how would they know if and when that happened?). It said that the truck backed up into an object. When we went back to uHaul to confront the employees, we showed them all of our pictures. Their first words were "what are we looking at? What damage?" Exactly. So she gets on the phone with the person who reported the damaged and little does she know I was listening to their conversation. I heard "Yes the back bumper. I see that picture. When did the damage occur? In the lot? Were the customers informed before they left? Did they know about it?" Then she got quiet and asked to see our picture again. Suddenly now she sees this slightly warped piece of PLASTIC on the back bumper and says "thats the damage". Now magically we were told they cant do anything and we have to wait until Monday to speak to the manager. Does anyone see $150 worth of damage on that bumper???!!! We called our bank and they agreed that this sounded like a fraudulent charge but we cant do anything yet until the charge gets processed and is no longer in pending. We then went directly to the Uhual customer resolution website and spoke to somewhere there who is requesting that we receive a refund.Even though we did everything one should do: take pictures of mileage, gas, damage, approve/dispute pictures, they STILL tried to scam us. Next time Im going to add "do a post-walk through with the parking lot employee" and then DONT LEAVE until all information is input into their systems and you receive that receipt! Because someone is going to do something after you leave and then claim it was your fault!
MoreWorst location. They’re a bunch of hidden fees that you don’t find out about until after you return the truck. My bill went was suppose to be $118 but once I returned the truck, I ended up paying $345. No one can explain anything to you. I would recommend another location
MoreIf I could give this place zero stars I would . I reserved a truck with them and a tow . The evening before my move they called to cancel saying they had no trucks in area . They shouldnt take reservations if they cant guarantee a truck. I asked to do have something smaller than since they called at end of business day and was told no they have nothing. The girl caught the a huge attitude when I told her she should have informed me earlier that they wouldnt be able to accommodate me. They take reservations yet have no trucks . Unreal
MoreVery unprofessional to the girl that spoke to me this morning by phone, if you dont like your job, simply dont work there. Thats all. Ridiculous.I was also told that the earliest pick up time is 12:30, and I know thats just not true. On my phone it showed earlier timings.
MoreOn 7/27/20 mid day I rented a van for a day. As I left the lot I realized that my phone was missing. I Went back to look for my phone but could not find it staff was not helpful at all, matter of fact the maintenance guy pretended to be insulted for me asking him if he’s has found a phone.As I can’t be with out a phone I drove the van to the next block parked it across from 7 eleven, took my car and went to a cell phone store to get a new phone that took up the rest of my day. The next day 7/28/20 I was busy & I did not use the rental van. By mid day I went back to we’re I parked the van & drove the one block back to the rental lot to return it. By return I was hit with a bill for driving the van 35 miles!!!!!!!!!!! I asked to speak to a manger I was told she’s not here.Don’t use them they are not honest.

MoreI recently rented the 15 ft van from here and the van was not in good condition. I had no choice to take it cause there were no more van. The alignment was way off and shock comes later when I get on Verrazano bridge and speed up a little. The steering started shaking every time I hit pot hole. That was scary. So nope,not getting a truck from them again
MoreWe arrived at 9 am, and we had to wait for a whole hour until we could get our truck. The staff seemed overwhelmed and clueless. It is crucial you hire more people for this location. Standing in line for 1 hour on a day where you have to move is immensely stressful and unacceptable. On top of that, they did not have the dolly Id reserved. Also absolutely unacceptable. A dolly was crucial for us to move our stuff. I had also bought 2 mattress bags online, and they were not in the back of the truck as promised. The whole visit was an utter and complete disaster and I would rather carry all my stuff by hand then rent from here again.
MoreI rented a trailer from the location, while I was there I ask the person behind the counter what is the latest that I can return the trailer? She told me that that the drop of can be done 24/7 even showed me where to park the trailer at night. I dropped of the trailer at 11.30pm the night before.The next day in the morning I received an unknown charge on my credit card from U-Haul, when I called them to ask them for the reason the person on the the phone told me that this is the after hour service charge.NO ONE TOLD ME THAT THIS SERVICE IS COSTING MONEY I WOULD DROP OFF THE TRAILER IN THE MORNING TO AVOID THE EXTRA CHARGE!!I end up paying the same amount for the fees as I paid to rent the trailer, this is not right!

MoreIt was good, the staff was friendly and courteous. Very helpful and entertaining. I ordered the truck online but not the supplies I needed. When arriving at the store it was nice to see their was sufficient amount if supplies I needed.

Just try to bargain a little bit.BTW this place have a line of customers.Update: Came there last week and all of the trucks were reserved. Just to find that out I spent 30 min in the line.I dont understand why the line goes so slow? They have 5 employees helping customers, but it takes more than 15 min for every customer to walk out with the keys.
MoreHorrendous. the customer service here is 0. The experience was a nightmare and I wont return. Heres why: First off, we rented a car and were promised half a tank when we started the car it was less than half... but we had to return it with half a tank because on the actual paperwork it was written that the tank was given to us half full. Customer associate was very rude and not engaging, not friendly, not welcoming AT ALL and most important not at all HELPFUL.. Can you guys please hire somebody that wants to work here? When we came back all the way from Jersey to turn the truck in it was closed of course but it was never explained to us that we needed to make a U-HAUL ACCOUNT AND DOWNLOAD AN APP JUST TO TURN THE KEYS IN. It wouldve been HELPFUL" if the gave us a heads up so we werent sitting there for almost two hours trying to figure out where to leave it and how to... at that, WORST EXPERIENCE. GO TO CONEY ISLAND INSTEAD....
MoreThis review is for the pickup experience/front desk reception. I placed a reservation online and put in all of my information including my drivers license and phone number hoping to speed up the pick up process. When I came to the location, the reception guy asked for my license which I provided him. He then asked if my reservation was made under Mr. "Smith". I said "thats not me and its a common surname", hinting him maybe he should look at my first name as well. He asked me whats my name. I was thinking, "BRO, you have my license ID right in front of you and you literally just looked at it few seconds ago to check my name." He noticed his brain memory hit the cap and not able to process further calculations, he almost had a panic attack. He then asked for my phone number, which I provided again. He proceeded in calling my phone number in front of me. After that, he asked for another phone number. I gave him my wifes. He then asked for a third phone number. I told him I dont have another phone number. He said, "Dont you have any friends?" At that moment, I almost did something stupid to this incompetent fool. I gave him my friends number and told him not to call him because hes still sleeping. No response, no explanation from this dude. He gave me a printout without going through the numbers with me. I started asking questions what the numbers mean and he answered in a tone like its common sense.
MoreEasy to reserve a vehicle but but very funny charging payment system. Was charge then money was out back into account then charged separately on 3 things that should of been all in 1. After 2 weeks of renting. For only 1 day. NO extra charges. Charges are correct but why give money back after charging me and then charge me 3 different times for 3 different items when it was all at once. Do u get charged for every item u bought at a super market ? No why did they do it dont know.

It took me 35 extra minutes to confirm who I was via the uhaul site and the lock box with the truck keys was stuck shut so I had to wait till a staffer came to open it with their own keys! Oh! & Dont get me started on how I drove there to pick up a truck only to be told I couldnt leave my car there! Which took another 25 mins to find legal parking!!!
MoreIf negative stars were a possibility, I would happily give them.Our experience began last Monday evening, as my business partner and I prepared for a 10 hour trip for which we needed to leave at 5am. We set up a reservation online for 8pm, and showed up at 7:58. All seemed well. We begin the process of picking up our desired van, soaring through the steps until we reach the lock box. We try the box we were instructed (several times), and it doesnt work. We then try the other boxes, we have the same lack of success. By 8:12, we call the number for the 24 hour help, and there is no answer. We call several more times, and there is still no response. I reach out on the Facebook page and am told the combination number has been confirmed. My business partner calls the number that reached out to him to confirm he was an alternate number for the reservation, and we get a wonderfully helpful customer service rep in Arizona. She then proceeds to spend the next TWO HOURS calling every individual listed as any kind of manager for the location, with still no response. We finally unload all of our product from our personal vehicle so that I can drop it with a family member to move the van as needed while we were away. During my trip back from dropping off our personal vehicle, I finally receive a call back from the 24 hour number/the store manager Dahlia Cunningham. Now, upon receiving this call, I am informed Ms Cunningham has been in the hospital with her son. While this is a justifiable reason to be unavailable, over 2 hours were spent trying to reach anyone for resolution, and she made no effort for anyone else to be on call or available. Furthermore, her "resolution" was to give us the truck that had been returned and was parked nearby, and she punctuates it with "thats all Im going to do for you."Now lets recap: 10 hour trip. We are travelling over 1200 miles. Some additional information: I have severely impaired vision with no depth perception and am unable to properly handle trucks of this kind. Pickups and full size vans tend to be the extent of my limits. But Ms. Cunninghams "resolution" after 2 hours of trying to reach her, was to give us a vehicle that hindered our travel and would cost us nearly twice as much in gas.Through all interactions, Ms Cunningham has been dismissive and rude.By the time we made it home, it was nearing midnight. We had to stay in town longer, at which point we attempted to get our van back, initially being told it would have to be re-booked at a higher rate. FINALLY, thats resolved and we make it on our way, now a total of 7 hours of our time wasted.This 7 hours, cost us several business transactions. Our initial 3pm arrival was pushed to 8pm when all was said and done, and an entire day of business sent spiraling down the drain.Since this initial experience, we have tried contacting Ms Cunninghams manager on a consistent basis. It has now been a week and a half, we have been dodged, we have been ignored, we have been disregarded, and mistreated. 7 hours and a day of business, a direct complaint against her, and Ms Cunningham provided a $50 refund saying once again, and I quote, "Thats all Im going to do for you."The poor attitude of management is outrageous. The extent weve been pushing to speak to anyone, is unacceptable.Dont bother with U-Haul, especially the New Utrecht location, your time ends up wasted, and youll be treated like garbage.
MoreLaziest staff, super unhelpful. I booked a 20’ truck and confirmed my reservation. The day before my move they call me and tell me they have a reservation for me for two 10’ trucks because the 20’ is no longer available. After trying for 30 minutes me trying to find another solution with them, they were extremely unhelpful, not friendly or accommodating, uneducated in regards to their options for customer, employee also repeatedly sucked her teeth at any question I had in regards to trying to make my move work since they couldn’t provide the truck I reserved. Don’t deal with this location, park slope has much more helpful staff.
MoreExtremely slow service. Seems to take 3 employees to get one person settled. They were kind and helpful once I did eventually get through the line. I wouldnt recommend using U-haul though. I had a much better experience with Cube Smart
MoreService was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Dahlia helped me sort out a problem with my cars hitch (wiring previously damaged in a fender benderand really went above and beyond to resolve the problem. All with a smile and a great attitude!
MoreI was very satisfied with their service. The place is a bit out of the way for me which is why I think I never went there before but I should have. Compared to the other uhaul places in Brooklyn this one takes the cake. They are organized and friendly and the store has boxes and tape and all your moving needs. Had I known, I wouldnt have gone to staples for boxes

MoreI reserved a truck at this location online.. not only did they spontaneously raise the price, but they also changed the pickup time to something super inconvenient (in the afternoon rather than the morning as planned). The women who worked at this location were neither friendly nor professional, but more like automatons with a hint of rudeness who basically said to me that if i am unhappy with my reservation there are many other people who will take my spot. So i cancelled my reservation and ran out of the store. Big yuck for this business.
MoreI had a wonderful experience renting a cargo van at this location! The van was brand new and very clean.Everyone there was professional, efficient, and my contract was quickly processed. I moved mid-month and completed their Express Online Check-in before arriving, so perhaps that is why I found the service to be quicker than other reviewers experienced.Regardless, I would definitely use this location again and I prefer it to another Brooklyn U-Haul location I have used in this past.
MoreI reserved a truck one week in advance to ensure that my moving day will be smooth. I received a confirmation call from this location at 6:30pm the night before to confirm a pick up at 5:30pm on my moving day. Absolutely unacceptable! Who begins their move in the early evening? Offering such ridiculously short notice they forced me to scramble to reserve a last minute truck by calling all their competing rental companies in the try state area. Never again will I rent from uhaul, especially from this shady location.
