Main reservoir for 5 districts of southern Tamil Nadu. Located in the serenity of western ghats.

An iconic dam. The famous Vaigai Dam park is now only a shadow of what it once was (it seems). The statues are damaged, the fountains vandalized, etc. PWD could at least keep dustbins around the park to prevent the unapologetic littering that people indulge in.But the Dam is still worth an evening due to the sheer brilliance of the Dam structure itself. The highlight of the Dam is the Dam Walk Way (3.5km long one way). At day break one can try and catch the sun rising atop Theni.Limited parking available - so people end up parking on the highway, which is quite dangerous for themselves and the traffic. Try and park your vehicle near the IB (guesthouseinstead, and walk down to the park and walk way.The Dam walk way is crowded near the park entrance. So if visiting with kids and/ or pets, go to the entrance thats closer to Andipatti Town.

One of the oldest dams in India. Nice location to have a visit. Dam includes parks for children, toy trains, boating which is totally fun and it is unlimited. We will not even know how the time passes by. Very neat place. Large area for seating and we will feel relaxed here.

At present the dam and the Park remain closed for public due to lockdown. However, if one goes to the upper end of the Guest house road, one can get a glimpse of the vast body of water stored there and also one can see the Kodaikanal FM tower if the sky is clear.Now, after the relaxation of lockdown, the dam and the Park have been reopened and people have started visiting the Dam. The causeway across the dam has been closed as water released from the dam is almost touching the top of the path. It would be better if a high quality eatery is available.

It is built across vaigai river near andipatti for most surrounding villages peoples needs of drinking & agriculture purposes !! Yet the Dam has good views & nice kids park & surrounding are also looks nice !! Overall Its a good place to visit in weekends with family 😍

Nice place to enjoy weekend but with humidity..

The Vaigai Dam is built across the Vaigai River near Andipatti, in the Theni district of Tamil Nadu. The dam view was scenic and great view of hills on the top of dam. There is a park for kids. It will be excellent if they maintain them well. Overall a beautiful tourist attraction for weekend with family/friends.

Poor maintenance in the park....

Is not maintained hygenically.... Not advised to bring young kids during week days...as it seems to be a Valentines park on those days
