Went to Wellsboro House on Halloween weekend this year for a very pleasant early dinner. Our server was the "Incredible"y wonderful Elastigirl who was very attentive to our table. During our meal the proprietor came over and talked to us about beer brewing which was friendly and informative. The meals that we got were tasty.Definitely a good place to go for a meal if you are in the area.
This was our second time visiting from out of town. We sat at the bar both times and had great service. The beer selection is eclectic and very good. The food is delicious! The crab rangoons are some of the best Ive had, you could tell theyre homemade and prepared fresh. Our sandwich was delicious, and the homemade chips are really good- portions are really great for the price too. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant & decor is warm & welcoming. Would for sure suggest checking them out!
A most stop if in Wellsboro- never a bad meal. Great selection of dinners & sandwiches- steak & cheese best in PA.
Great place, and good, reasonably priced food. Alexa was great waitress - professional, personable and attentive!!
Always a great experience. Chris and the rest do a great job! Great food!
Alexa was our server. Despite being short-staffed and absolutely slammed busy, she was very nice, calm and kept us up-to-date on our food order. Food was delicious and came out at a reasonable pace. All the staff seem to really enjoy working there!
The house was pack with homecoming from 2 schools but our wait was only 30 minutes which went fast with a beer on the deck. The calimari is possibly the best weve ever had. The haddock was so fresh and those house made chips, fantastic! The turducken burger was a one of a kind beauty and as explained by Chris, quite a culinary challenge! We tried as many of their delicious beers as our bellies could handle, then took more togo! It must be said that Chris has a wonderful personality and does so good under the pressure of maximum capacity for hours on end. The waitstaff does equally as good. We SO look forward to returning!!!
Awesome food! Crab bites were 🔥! Krabby patty was delish! Cheese steak was great. Great service from Angela. Chris was a great host lol! We definitely will be back!
Excellent service and food. Great collection of their own beers.
Whitefish sandwich was mostly overcooked batter with very little fish. Kielbasa cheese steak sandwich tasted like salt. Fries were oversalted. Worst weve had in some time. Server was friendly.
SOB sauce was very good, everything else could of been better prepared or priced accordingly.
Good brews. Best calamari and cold brews. Brittany was great waitress.
Brittany, our waitress was amazing ! Beer and Cider delicious! Calamari was fresh and delicious. Good Marinara sauce came with it; the aioli was not tasty and too salty. Salad and bread was great. Menu varied and was delectable. The filet was too tough, couldnt cut it with a serrated knife ! Brittany exchanged it for us and we selected the Mahi Mahi but the topping wasnt tasty and you couldnt taste the fish. So 3 stars for that.
Great eggplant parm sandwich, on an Amoroso roll which makes ALL the difference if youre a South Jersey/Philly girl like me! 3 other people in my party and all were happy with their meals and beer, no complaints and the waitress was great! Especially liked the British style and Red ales.
We love the beer that is brewed in-house. Locals wines are also available on tap. Always friendly service.
What a delightful dining experience. The drinks were superb; the food was outstanding, and the service and atmosphere were just delightful. We will for sure be back!
Restaurant was busy and full. Service was pleasant and prompt food was excellent, very good portions
Food was delicious. Server was very attentive. We had a large party so they put us in the back room.
I dont normally have much to say about the food. If its good, I tell people about it, if its bad or not up to par, I just dont come back.Which brings me to the Wellsboro House. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I ordered the Bacon Blue Burger and was asked how I wanted it prepared. My standard response is medium rare. How many times has that question been before you, lot Id bet. Usually when I ask for medium rare I get something that resembles well done to very over cooked. Not today, today my burger was cooked to perfection. Well done to the gang in the kitchen. Not to mention my waitress Savanna, I think her name is. Very attentive. The place was moderately busy and I was seated straight away. Brought my drink quickly and my order showed up in no time. This is a place that I will be returning to and Im going to tell everyone. Thanks Wellsboro House, see you next time
Our waitress Isabella was extremely professional and very sweet. She made our time there worth while.
We called in 1 day prior to our visit with a group of 11 people. They had the back room set up for us (nice because we were able to be a little louder). The beers were great! They had a huge selection and there was something for everyone! The juicy lucy is amazing if you like IPAs! Our appetizers came out at a reasonable time and were delicious as well! But the dinner... man the dinner was amazing!!! The steaks were cooked to perfection, and seasoned just right! I would absolutely come back and would 100% recommend!!!
Went to see Pat Cole sing, which was beyond awesome!! The food was fabulous and our sever very knowledgeable with the home brews and great service. An awesome place to go!!!
This is a wonderful place to eat! What a menu and what a beer list! Our waitress Alexa was wonderful! And dont forget to save room for the cheesecake!!
We went out for a family dinner last night (5/28/22), and I have to say I was Not impressed. We had reservations for 6:30pm and didnt get our meals until 8pm. The food came out cold, almost as cold as the service and was not very good either. Needless to say I wont be wasting any of my money or time at an establishment that doesnt care what their customers experienc is, we were not the only patrons that had a bad visit either, another family got tired of waiting and walked out after having to wait so long.👎
There’s so much to say about this place! We got to sit and chat with Chris - the owner - for a bit who told us all about the locations history and their story of turning it into the welcoming place that it is today. The 1862 building that is now the restaurant was once known as “Hotel Roosevelt” - named after US President Theodore Roosevelt who used to frequent the area. The barstool area at the tavern is the original and the back of the bar was built in the 1930s.Chris and his wife Laura renovated and opened the Wellsboro House back in July 2008 and to this day remains family owned and operated.Getting to know Chris was one of the highlights of our trip, and we enjoyed hearing stories from their renovation as well as their goals for the future.Located across the street from the Wellsboro House Restaurant is the Wellsboro House Brewery. Also owned by restaurant owners Chris and Laura, the brewery has found its home in the historic 1914 train depot in Wellsboro.Their motto is "limited quantity, high variety, and consistently awesome." They currently have 16 of their beers on tap in the restaurant, and to my surprise they had an excellent selection of dark beers to choose from…so of course I tried them all!Between the two of us, we tried:🍺 Dan Smith’s Chocolate Stout🍺 Rail Boss Coffee Ale🍺 South of the Border Porter🍺 Wynken, Blynken and Nod Out IPA🍺 Juicy Lucy IPA🍺 Quadzilla Triple BelgianSo many good brews that it’s hard to pick a favorite…although it was a pretty close call between the Chocolate Stout and QuadzillaOur only regret about going to the Wellsboro House on the last night of our vacation is that we didn’t go sooner! It is without a doubt a place that we would have loved to enjoy at least one more time before leaving.Excellent food. Excellent beers. Excellent service.
Perhaps the burgers are OK but do not get seafood here. The crabcakes had a lot of filler and were burned to the point that that was all you could taste. Fish was overcooked and dry as well.
Had great food. They servers were very helpful and friendly. Had a large selection of domestic, foreign and craft beers. Definitely going to be going back.
What an unexpected surprise finding this place. If I could give it more than five stars if I would. Waitress was super nice, great selection of craft beers and large selection of food options. I had a hard time deciding what to order! Everything sounded good. Do yourself a favor and stop by here!
We only stopped in for a beer, but the place is laid out nicely with a bar in the center, and two dining rooms on either side. There is a stage in the bar area where live music acts perform. Friendly staff. Great beers.
Great local beers! Fish sandwich could use more textural contrast and a bit more flavor, like some pickled veg. Piece of fish was pretty good but almost too crispy with the crusty bread.
Our server was excellent. We arrived too early for dinner (starts at 5pm but had an appy & cocktails and just relaxed in the comfortable dining area with fireplace on a wintry Friday afternoon.Had a great dinner (recommend musselsand enjoyed our visit very much.
Its a bar type atmosphere. The food and service were good. I would eat there again.
Craft beers and appetizers were great. My wifes meal was excellent and I would call mine very good. Ate outside on a cool night or would have had a wait, but like everyone right now half the dining room was closed due to staffing.
I stopped in to grab some good beer to take home and they did not disappoint! The staff were very nice and assisted me promptly. It looked like a good selection of beers. I took home the black cherry wheat and it’s amazing! I will be back!
Delicious and enormous Chicken Parmesan. Also tasty well prepared crusted Mahi Mahi with wild rice and sautéed vegetables. Staff apologized for only plastic forks; missing plastic spoons and knives : we had takeout and were struggling with just forks cutting the chicken. (Hence 4 stars). Cute lattice cut carrots on the salads! Absolutely delicious meal. Premises was clean and comfortable as well.
The food was good and we didn’t wait long for our order. However, the waitress never smiled or made eye contact with us. She never gave us utensils to eat with or straws for our drinks and completely forgot one of our drinks. We had to ask for utensils, straws and napkins. We also had to ask for our missing drink and wait 15 minutes for it. Restaurant was not busy at all. Also, menu is a bit over priced but it’s also a bit of a touristy area due to Pine Creek Gorge. When we visit the area again we are going to try somewhere new simply because of the bad service not because the food wasn’t good.
We stopped in for a snack and a drink on a rainy day and had a great time. GREAT Beer produced in-house and excellent pub food all at great prices. Our server was fantastic and had great beer recommendations and the prices were fair. The portions were large with the biggest tasters I have ever seen.
First time here and have to say, WOW what an amazing place. From the time you enter the building, to being seated, to being greater by your waiter/waitress, to getting your food, to checking out the hospitality and experience is beyond amazing. The beer they make is beyond great and very smooth. The steak was beyond perfect and on point along with the sides. Our waitress always checked in and not once did I have any empty glass nor need to call someone for something special cause they were always making sure you were comfortable and having a great experience. I will definitely being come back for years to come. And the place was very clean as well. Hats off to this great establishment that has earned my business and recommendations to all.
The restaurant does have gluten free options and even a few vegan options. Food was good. Nice outdoor seating, although the music was loud and the rain water had not been swept off the floor boards.
My friend and I ate lunch here after visiting Pine Creek Gorge. It was not very crowded since they had just opened. Our waitress was very helpful, attentive, and courteous. They have a very nice selection of sandwiches and appetizers (couldnt comment on entrees since we were there for lunchand the establishment is really clean. For those interested in beer, they also seem to have a nice selection of their own beers too. Likely to return in the future!
Great local find. We had the bacon and blue and the mushroom hamburgers. Both cooked perfectly with delicious homemade potato chips. The beer selection is great. The service is friendly and quick. The menu has lots of choices and the pricing is reasonable.
This is one of the best places to go in the area. Friendly staff, great brew, excellent food, decent prices. Based on what you like, I dont think you can make a bad choice here.
Very nice place, great ride for bikers. The food was delicious! It was not busy when we arrived but it took a very long time for our drinks. There is also a dinner train across the street from this restaurant. All in all I would recommend and visit again.
We ate dinner here 3 nights while we were in town. We definitely enjoyed ourselves. Great service. Decent prices. I wasnt blown away with the beer, but it was good.
I love this place! Went with colleagues to grab dinner and some brews, and was pleasantly surprised how high quality they were. Beers are brewed across the street in the train depot, and especially the Wynkin IPA is a hop lovers paradise. Place is Philly-themed, and the cheesesteak did not disappoint at all. Must visit if you are in Wellsboro
I can’t really give a better review. It took us 40 minutes to get our drinks from the bar. Our food order took an hour fifteen or more. The wild rice side was very undercooked (I mean hard and crunchythe salmon was just okay. Our waitress was new but the other staff could have and should have helped her.
Great food! Lots of options for beer drinkers. The food is to die for! They have a great BBQ Brisket sandwich. I am absolutely in love with the potato chips and I dont even care for normal chips. Cut and made to order. I added a picture but it was too good to stop and take a picture sooner.... Im hooked, My new favorite spot!
The staff is helpful but not well organized. Food is good and has some thing for everyone. Great crab bites a must.
Food that we got was good, but not great. We had their in house beer and all our choices were great. They put over some unique beers that are missing try’s. Prices were reasonable for what you got.
Wow! Check out the Full Moon over Kansas City(with the knifeand the Build ur Own Hamburger! Delicious..Delicious. The Chesapeake 🍟 Fries were seasoned well...brought back memories of the Boardwalk days.
