They didnt bother looking into warning lights that had been on. When I made the reservation online I entered that information along with informing them when I showed up for the appointment. Also, theres not much room in their waiting area. Dont plan on getting very comfy if youre going to stay for a while.

Edit:They did what they said and I am pleased. :::: They sold me a vehicle that the Camshaft Position Sensor was out within 2 miles of leaving the shop. They claim they will take care of it. When I asked about getting my vehicle back they said they couldn’t do that… I’m still waiting to see if they cover the costs.
Wilson Toyota could not have done more to make the experience better. The entire team was a pleasure to work with. Our wait for the vehicle we wanted was worth it. I have recommended Wilson Toyota & our salesman, Mark to several friends that have asked.
Purchased a used Toyota tacoma on 8/12/2022 found the truck on there lot about 2 weeks prior to purchasing waiting on financing they were really good about holding the truck for me when it come to picking up the truck sailsman sent us to finance office she asked kinda rudely if we had the check I responded with yes she replies sign here here and here and your truck is ready for you outside to make a long story short they need better customer service I felt very out of place so my segestment is if you are looking at a vehicle there probably best if you go in a suit and tie 👔 also wanted to trade my wifes very nice 2011 Toyota rav4 for a camry until they offered us not even half of what it was worth Most Definitely Wouldnt Go Back

I was advised to purchase my first car from a dealership as I was told private sellers were more likely to lie or deceive you. With that in mind, I purchased my first car from Wilson Toyota of Ames a couple of weeks ago. I was aware before the purchase that the car was used and came without warranty, as-is. I made two separate appointments to test drive the car, once by myself and once with my partner. During both appointments, I asked the salesperson, Austin, multiple times about the ‘Check Engine’ light that repeatedly came on. Perhaps due to my naive and youthful appearance, Austin chose to assure me that the ‘Check Engine’ alert would cease if I changed the oil after purchasing the car. He assured me of this multiple times, despite the fact that I had told him I needed the car to travel for my new job the following week. Long story short, after taking the car to multiple mechanics in Ames, I have been advised not to drive the car WHATSOEVER or risk damaging the engine further. The engine requires about 3,500$ in parts (new multi-air valveand labor. I now have to tow the car to Des Moines for repairs. Upon realizing the full extent of the cars repair needs, my partner and I returned to Toyota Wilson of Ames to request a loan car as I had purchased the car in order to travel to my new job. We explained the full extent of the cars issues and Austin then gRaCiOusLy asked his boss to loan me a car for three weeks. Overall, my experience with Toyota Wilson of Ames has been very negative. I would not recommend first-time buyers purchase from this dealership as they WILL take advantage of your lack of knowledge about cars.

I was treated with courtesy at every step of the way. The sales staff were helpful in making choices and in determining what were the best decisions for me. In today’s crazy market, Austin and Travis got me a car that I am very happy with. And Amy in financing was most efficient and knowledgeable.
Armando was our sales person and he was fantastic...simply answered questions and sold us a vehicle. No pressure at all. We came back to Wilson Toyota because the first time we were there, 2 months ago, he greeted us at the door. At other dealerships, we had been ignored, as we were walking through. Armando is the reason we returned!
The sales Staff was very friendly and helpful. Didn’t like having to wait so long for my vehicle to be delivered but that’s just how it is anymore. Would definitely recommend them

About a month ago my wife and I put a $500. deposit on a new 2022 Toyota Highlander XLE AWD that was allocated to Wilson Toyota of Ames. Yesterday. 8/30/22 we drove to Ames from Waukee to meet our Salesman Travis Reinhardt and to check out our new car! We looked the Highlander over, inside and under , then took it for a drive. We decided to lease and the process took about an hour. Thank you Travis for making the process simple. I had spoken with several independent auto repair shops in the DSM area that service Toyotas asking for their opinion on various other import car brands and was steered towards the Toyota brand for its reliability, (if properly maintainedand Toyota of Ames because they are still a family owned dealership.We are very pleased with our new Toyota!

Had excellent service from Jack. Put a deposit down on a new vehicle and received regular updates about the status of the vehicle and when it ultimately came in, Jack had everything setup to make it a quick and painless process. Was in and out of the dealership in under an hour with zero issues. Additionally, there was no markup on the vehicle and this is extremely rare in the aftermath of COVID. A++. Would definitely purchase from Wilson in the future.
Getting a car is a process now of days. It I totally took about 3months and two weeks to get into a 2022 Toyota RAV4. The only reason I’m giving 4 starts is because I didn’t like the financial aspect of the process. They ran our credit to multiple loaners without my knowledge when I only wanted it ran with Toyota. They initially didn’t tell us the interest rate and let us decide if that’s what we wanted or not, so that we could possibly get a co-signer / etc. it felt like they were just trying to get us in the car. Ryan was knowledgeable and showed features of the car that I didn’t know of. Other than the financial aspect everything was good. My dad got his first New car ever since he came to this country !!
We generally love Wilson. For years we have driven from Des Moines for the better service.We were disappointed with our last service, though. We needed a belt replaced because our car was squealing when the air conditioner was on. We also needed a wheel bearing replaced and a wheel alignment.When we returned to Des Moines after picking up the car, we saw that a hubcap had fallen off on the way home (an original Toyota oneand the squealing was worse than ever the next time we started up the car (and ever since).I called Wilson to explain, and they said to make another appointment for the belt, and sorry about the hubcap.Im not sure we will be going the extra distance any more for a servicing company that doesnt seem to go the distance for their client.
Mark was very helpful as far as helping me get a new car. The Tucson will give me the cargo space I need for vacations, groceries and taking my lawnmower or snow blower in for maintenance.
Overall great experience purchasing a new vehicle in this challenging supply chain environment. Our salesman Mark made sure everything was taken care of, kept us informed on the delivery date, and stayed almost 3 hours after his shift to complete our sale.
The 5 stars are for the two women who checked my car in twice in one week for a continuing problem. I was a bit frustrated and Makenna Danger and Kaley Exline turned my attitude from one of frustration to feeling heard, validated and assured that my car was in good hands! These two are genuine and sincere! They were so positive and quick to get me checked in. I want to thank them again for taking such good care of me! I will definitely continue to support Wilson Toyota because of these two! ❤️
Wow! If you had checked on a review I had written about 8 hours ago, it would have been 0.🤣 Now here are and everything was made right. I cannot recommend this place enough because they know how to take care of customers. When you do that, you create customers for life. Now my hubby is eyeing up a new FJ. 😉We broke down on 35 on our drive across the country. It was a bit of long stay in the shop (one week due to Covid shortage), but the manager worked with us on getting our car on the road. I appreciate the family values and taking care of my husband, so he can make it home safely.

Horrible service experience with my fiancé, 3 hours for a oil change/tire rotation. 11:45 appointment wasn’t done until after 2:30. Had to be at work at 3 and was almost late. Shouldn’t take that long with an appointment in advance for a simple oil change.

Really disappointed in the service I experienced a couple weeks ago.I scheduled an appointment for 2:45 on a Friday to purchase a new FOB and have it programmed. The procedure ought to take about a half hour. After an hour goes by I ask the gal who checked us in how long is it going to be? Long story short she said they were running behind.. The manager wasnt much help, giving us excuses for the poor service. I shared if they had communicated that they were running behind that would have been better. We didnt get out of there until 5pm!I could of understood if we just showed up but we had a scheduled appointment. Again! Super Disappointed!

Helpful in buying our used truck. Arranged to have, and coordinated an independent mechanic look it over for us. We were called by the mechanic with the details of their inspection before they called Wilson. Quite helpful and reassuring.

We bought a mini-van from Wilson’s many years ago. Fast forward to when our youngest has graduated from high school and is ready to buy her first brand new car. We took her to Wilson’s Toyota, and she met Chad Christiansen there. He worked with her and our husband to find the best vehicle for her, and Aimee in finance worked diligently to send her the paperwork when her car came in. Brought a car from them. Pleasant experience. Friendly staff, helpful in answering questions. Very reasonable. I understand it is up to me to decide the condition of a used car. Make sure you know basic car mechanics or bring someone that does. There are things you can see meanwhile there are things may come up as you drive the car. Overall, would recommend.

Wilson Toyota of Ames was a great experience from the time I ordered my 2022 Tacoma in February up to the delivery just yesterday. My Sales Representative Ryan P was superb throughout the entire sales process. Wilson Toyota of Ames sales staff are honest and went out of there way to ensure a seamless closing experience. Thanks again to the lady that guided me through the closing documents and tags transfer from my old truck to my new truck. I’ll always recommend Wilson Toyota of Ames to friends and family.
Salesman Ryan and the sales manager were both excellent. They both worked hard to fine me a perfect truck. Wilson has a great selection of used trucks. Good thing because new truck are missing everywhere.
I was given an estimate of $800 for repairs that I was able to get elsewhere for under $100. I was told at Wilson that new parts were needed when in fact only brackets needed to be tightened. This is not the first time I have been told I needed to buy unnecessary new parts and given an overpriced estimate for repairs at Wilson Toyota. I cant trust them or feel safe because of this.
This was the first repair experience I have had at this dealership in Ames. I talked with multiple people, including Dan (manager in service), Dan the service advisor, Chad and Ashton! Mostly talked with Jamie (service advisor). This dealership makes you feel like your part of a family. I was not ever rushed off the phone during any of my calls to them (had to call a lot, since it was my sons car and he is a student at ISU!). Jamie had the repair done quickly (way faster than I expected!!). The courtesy, professionalism and willingness to help us out will get me to buy my next vehicle from this place! We are a family of Toyota vehicles and I wish I knew this place existed a LONG TIME AGO! They have earned my business due to the attention and care of the service department. Not to mention, the price was fair and everything calculated up front! NO surprises here! Thank you Wilson Toyota for having one of the best service departments I have ever had the pleasure to deal with!
Staff are very friendly and kind, willing to work with you however the quality of the vehicles they sell is terrible. I purchased a 2015 Subaru Forester from them one week ago and have had nothing except problems. They did not detail the vehicle after I requested it to be done prior to purchasing and after I brought it back to be done again. Yesterday my oil light came on-upon inspection there was NO OIL in the vehicle AND the transmission fluid was leaking. I do NOT recommend purchasing a used vehicle here.
