Yellow Creek State Park in Indiana County

Awesome! Our first time at this park. Kayaked the lake today and the weather was absolutely perfect! The trees lining the shore were dressed in vibrant Fall colors. A serene, relaxing, rejuvenating experience. We definitely will return next year for more kayaking and to stay in a yurt or cabin here.
MoreI liked that they have a nice sized pond thats for people with physical handicap s.
MoreYellow Creek has a day use area and overnight area. The day section has a beach, 3 boat launches and a boat rental.Theres plenty of parking and tables, but you might need to bring a grill as park grills are limited. There are 3 hiking and mountain bike trails.Across Rt 259 is an environmental learning center and the dragonfly pond with a fishing pier.Fishing and boating up to 20 HP are allowed on the lake. The overnight area on the north shore has camping, but cabins and yurts only (on a very rough road). Theres also a boat launch and boat mooring.Winter activities include snowmobiling and sledding, ice skating and ice fishing, and cross country skiing. For events at this park visit: events dcnr paFor more information: pa parks and forests(diamond)
MoreGreat fishing lodging and quiet. Tons of lake access hiking. Is our annual week long get away.
MoreWe held a surprise 30th birthday and rented the beachfront pavilion. It was perfect! Very clean, easy to find, right near the restrooms which were spotless. The pavilion also has a fun new playground right near it as well. We were basically the only people there. I cant recommend the park enough. Very clean and family friendly. Wheelchair accessible path to thw pavilion as well!
MoreWas very lovely and nice. There was a lot of litter around, though, which was so sad to see. But the staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help us.
MoreNot too crowded, nice family place, a few weeks ago our pontoon boat broke down, we called park rangers for help and they were their within 20 minutes, he towed us to shore and stayed with us until we had our boat out and trailored, he was amazingly kind and caring and made two older retired people feel better.
MoreGreat place to spend the day with your family or friends. Plenty of hiking and biking trails as well as a pretty decent little beach that was upgraded recently. Kayak and canoe rentals as well. Check it out.
MoreVery peaceful & idyllic setting. The part of the water that was marked off by yellow buoys was good to just get your legs wet or swim in or play or just to allow the water to lap against you. Such a soothing experience! Loved the trees & the walking trails were great too!
MoreVery nice place to picnic and spend your day.
Nice lake. Water was very low. Caught a few fish. Had a nice day.
Had a program with park educator Lisa Meadows. She was fantastic! She did a great job, everyone had fun, and we all learned something new.
MoreGreat place for families. Actually anyone can enjoy the park.
Nice beach great hiking trails awesome boat rentals at a great price
The swimming area is great but the grass is still high in certain areas there arent as many picnic tables and the road is terrible. Not sure if they lost a lot of funding but its definitely not like it use to be. But we had a good time thats all that matters.
MoreBeautiful State Park for Cabins, fishing, and kayaking. There are not many good trails but the beach area is pretty big and shallow however, they do not have any lifeguards. Nice play area for kids, good bathrooms, and cheap rustic cabins. Its usually not crowded. Make sure to go to Environmental Learning Center and DragonFly Pond. We saw some flowers, butterflies 🦋, and dragonflies and walked around a 0.5-mile loop around the pond. Worth visiting!
MoreWell keep ground by the DCNR great trout waters to fish from also the awesome cabin we stay in
MorePennsylvania has some amazing state parks. We hiked out to the dam. Beautiful and peaceful. Trails could be marked better, but we didnt get lost.
MoreClean well maintained state park, restrooms were Clean with running water. Beach area and picnic area was clean and well maintained as well. We enjoyed the pontoon boat rental and the staff there were just awesome and friendly to deal with. Boats were clean and well taken care of and we are looking to visit and rent another pontoon boat later this summer/autumn. Great place to have a picnic and/or Great family day outing.
MoreNice place to kayak, swimming area was all very little kids, with parents nowhere near them, so that wasnt fun at all (plus it is only 3 ft deep), but still its an alright place.
MoreNot a fan. Too crowded and open. The openness led tp brutal winds. Not a lot of options to fish from the shore. Return trip is doubtful.
MoreWas great! Few playgrounds for the kids. Pavilions to gather family around, picnic tables around the park. Fishing spots all around. Can take a boat or kayak out. Beach area. The water was pretty shallow at the swim area, but we probably hit the swim area on a low day.Was a great experience and definitely recommend it!
MoreHiking, kayaking, camping, swimming, fishing and sunset chasing. We love Yellow Creek State Park!!!
MoreWonderful trails. I have a ton of fun going out in the early morning (were normally out there by sunriseand taking pictures. Ive gotten some really neat pictures in the past. Birds galore, nice lake for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing.
MoreWeve been here 3 x. Love this place. Its clean, beautiful, kind hearted people. Cabins, to tent areas and nice size RV sites. Its a must go-to.
MoreWhat a beautiful place to fish, kayak, swim ,have family gatherings..clean,quiet and peaceful..Love this place
MoreA must to swim and just take on the sights. Beautiful and fresh clean air no fishy smell to it and beach was so clean with white sand. If your ever over that way stop and either go swimming or just sit and relax
MoreCelebrated daughters birthday and it was a perfect day the pavilion was set up perfect where we could watch all the kids play and its such a beautiful park with the water.
MoreThe only insight I can give is one day I got there late and I went over to the Boy Scout Camp and stopped at the old school house and watched as hundred of bats flew around eating insects. If youre not afraid of bats, take 10 - 15 minutes to watch them and listen to them!!!!!
MoreGreat place to just relax or do activities 👏🇱🇷❤
I hiked along the Yellow Creek Lake Trail and the views were definitely worth it. Most of the trail follows along the shore of the lake. The scenic views of the lake make the hike well worth it.
MoreEven in the winter there are some fantastic trails and recreational opportunities to be had. Recommend for beginners looking to get into mountain trails, biking, hiking and winter activities like ice fishing. The beach areas are in need of a little updating.
MoreNice to walk the trails. Take 📷 photos. Enjoy with the family or alone..
We maintained park! Wheelchair fishing platform available.
My fiance went on our first camping trip with each other here just last weekend8/20-8/22, and absolutely loved every second of it. Our neighbors at the site was beyond sweet, and the lady in the campstore was amazing, and so helpful with everything. We went on a canoe at the state park, and swimming. Played in the small creek near the camp, and listened to the water. On Saturday Evening they actually hosted bingo, and that was fun as well.
MoreLove this State Park. Dog friendly cabins, beautiful lake, relaxed atmosphere. Perfect!
MoreBeautiful Park. Took our yaks, bought our launch permits there, and were out for 3 hours! A lovely day.We went on a Wednesday, and it was not crowded at all. The people there were so friendly.
MoreRented the woodland pavilion. It was nestled in the tree line. Had electric, grill, horseshoe pit. Very nice. It is close to the walking bike trail, so did have a few random people walk close to get to trail. Bathroom is not close. There a little bit of a hill to climb to get to restroom, but it had regular toilet and running water. Dragonfly Pond was excellent. My grandson caught eight big Blue Gil. Had a blast.
MoreGreat place for kids to play and swim. Offers nature trails, kayaking, boat rentals, pavilion rentals.
MoreYurt wise disgusting road to the Yurts was terrible you need a four-wheel drive to get up the hill. The restroom was about 200 yards away from the handicapped Yurt at the bottom of the Steep Hill.
MoreStopped after getting off work early had place practically to my self. Peaceful and relaxing. Nice place to hang out.
MoreFamily friendly, wheelchair accessible, clean bathrooms, outdoor shower to rise off. Very nice beach/swimming area, my kids just love it. Large area of sand to give that beachy feel. Water is pretty clean for a lake/creek. I love coming out here, so relaxing.
MoreYellow creek state park is a large and located in Indiana county. It has lots of open areas to picnic, fish, and has decent beach for swimming. There are numerous places to launch boats and there are handicap accessible parking, bathrooms, and even a special pond for scenic view and fishing. You can also camp here.
MoreThe trails through the park are so much fun to hike or Mt bike!!!! The beach and swimming area has beautiful white sand and it just really looks so beautiful!!! We love to bpat fish and swim here at yellow creek!!!!
MoreNice day use area with very clean bathrooms, a boat launch, boat rentals, snack bar, and lots of parking. Great mountain biking trails, but overgrown in some areas. I was just visiting for a day, but would definitely come back!
MoreI take my kiddos here to hike or to go swimming. Its a lovely park. My husband and I rented a pavilion for my sons graduation, and it was really nice. If you enjoy hiking, swimming, kayaking, or picnicking, go to Yellow Creek State Park. I guarantee that you and your family will have a great time there. 😁
MoreGreat park for some hiking. Trails aren’t too long but lots of varied terrain and scenery. Ridge Top trail has some steeper parts and some parts were a bit overgrown so maybe they haven’t been used much yet this season. Also can be muddy, there were some heavy rains a few days before we visited. My dogs also enjoyed being able to cool off in the lake.
MoreBeautiful lake park.. loads of room for biking, walking, jogging and boat rides or if u just want some peace and quiet. Great spot for fishing as well and if u fancy a cold swim now thats it fall, theres a small beach area and water is slightly clean. I do wish they had more bathrooms though as most of the time the toilets are always closed. But otherwise great spot to hang out with friends and family.I
MoreMy family and I have been having fun at this amazing state park for over 30 years now and we will continue to do so for another 30 years! We love the fishing, camping, swimming, hiking, and picnicking they have to offer. We have a camper on a permanent site at Yellow Creek Campground just a mile away from the state park on Rt. 422. My daughter loves to swim at the public beach inside of the state park and I love Bass fishing here as well. Park rangers are kind, accommodating, and very knowledgeable of the area. Very family friendly place with activities and educational programs for children available different times throughout the year.
MoreGreat place for a couple hour hike with my dog. Lots of main and side trails to choose from. The lake is nice and clean and my dog loves to dive in and swim. Quite a few pavilions with grills. Restrooms available in main areas.
